Is Stitch really THAT BAD ?

OMG Stitch's Great Escape is horrible one of the worst attractions in Walt Disney World history. Everytime I walk by there I wish that they would bring back Alien Encounter.

I hated this ride. I will definetly skip it next time. If you do go please do not go when you are starving and have that empty stomach feeling. You will be sick the rest of the day by that stupid burpy chili dog smell.

I also prefered it when it was still alien encounter and even when it first changed to stich. This "new" stich ride sucks!

How would you guys say it differs from the alien encounter that was there? That is how I remember WDW having not been there since '97. I liked that ride. Would you say this is the same thing just with stich and not the "scarier" alien?

I thought alien encounter was much scarier/thrilling than stitch. IMO stitch is on the same level as the haunted mansion as far as being scary is concerned. Now if I had kids I might think otherwise. I just find it really silly and not worth sitting through.

I wonder what the very original was like? The public never got to see it because Michael Eisner thought it was to scary and had them tone it down.

I think you have that info backwards.
The first version of AE (when it first opened) was not considered to be frightening enough to suit the higher-ups at Disney, so it was redesigned to be more scary, not less.

I'm not really concerned about it not being scary enough.. after all I am the girl who couldnt go in her own garden for a year after seeing Blair Witch :rotfl2: ... definitely not looking forward to being sprayed with Eau de La ChiliDog (to be honest, not really sure what a chili dog IS, though I have a vague idea and it doesnt sound like something we'd see at Bath & Body Works)... also wondering why they put you in harnesses for a show or "ride" that does not move ?! Weird!

The monorail thing sounds cuter!

We ride all rides in Disney, whether some say good or bad. Stitch is an experience, inside simulates a space ship, you're seated in the craft, harness comes down, if you raise your shoulders when its coming down it will stop and give you room. Back when this was mission to mars, I believe, same set up and the seats shook to simulate a space ship take off. The effects are top notch, we enjoy the attraction, it is dark, does have a smell but nothing really that bad. We're not Stitch character likers but the attraction is worth one shot.

Well, I'm gonna defend it. Poor Stitch.

Alien Encounter was a pretty cool show but WAY too intense for kids - I guess this way is Disney trying to pull off a show without having to do too much rehab and save a few dollars. WDW is a business, after all.

Sure, for those who liked AE, Stitch is probably a disappointment. I note most who didn't enjoy it are teens who probably love thrill rides (I say 'most', so don't start whinging at me!) I like Stitch as a character a lot, and I thought it was fun - pretty dumb fun, but that's just Stitch anyhoo. I would even go so far to say that the show is worth watching at least once just for the quality of the Stitch model - the Animatronics are some of the most impressive I've seen in an attraction yet.

If you don't like Stitch, don't go. Likewise, if you don't like pirates, don't ride POTC. If you don't like birds, don't see Tiki. If you do like Stitch, go. Watch it. Laugh at it. Don't expect too much from it. Relax, enjoy your vacation, don't get too worked up about times gone by or what everybody else thinks. If you don't see it this time round, don't worry. If you're coming back, you might see it then. It's not like your life is depending on it, is it?

People who hate Stitch forget how much most people hated AE.

Stitch isn't the best ride in the world, but it's fun. It fits the theming of the Magic Kingdom. You cannot look me in the eye and say that Alien Encounter belonged in the Magic Kingdom and, if you do, I will call you a liar.

Yep. It was the most-openly-reviled attraction in all of WDW.

I agree, i don't think AE belonged in the MK at all.. And we definately enjoy the Stitch "show".. We go every year. ( we are late 20's - early 30's and my dd is almost 6) I think it's pretty neat. But, then again, i love stitch.

having just returned and experienced stitch for the first time, it was one of the longest waits we had (abotu 10 minutes) I thought it was cute that once you get into the outsode queing area the CM throws a big ball in, and everybody gets in to batting it around with the kids, THAT was fun.

the set up though detailed is LONG, I was dying to get to the "attraction" part, LOL.

I will say Stitch himself is well done, but I hated the restraint system thingy, it kinda hurt, my shoulders LOL, honestly I think everyone should try everything at Disney at least once, so I say you have to go, at least ONCE LOL

It's just sort of stupid. Not very entertaining. It just sort of goes on and on with no real point. It's just an excuse for Stitch to be gross and annoying.

I don't totally agree with that.

Kids tend to freak out just as much during Stitch as they do during Alien Encounter.

It was an experience, I personally didn't like it, but if my kids want to go back on, will go! On the other hand my daughter, who was 5 at the time, screamed through the whole thing! It was our first ride of the day at the MK, and that set the mood for the rest of the day!

So true.....I can't tell you how many times a CM had to come in with a flashlight and escort families out. It does throw you into complete and total darkness. Though I thought at one point I was gonna have to call a CM over to escort my friends out (the germaphobe).....IMO while people may enjoy the attraction, I think it's a little to overdone with all the Stitch doing to wakeup call and interrupting the monorail captain, but then again, I'm a Mickey fan over anything. Opinions just differ, so if you want to see it, go ahead.

I love stitch, and had to drag my rents on the ride. I hated Alien Encounter as a child (the smell of the smoke made me feel sick so i didnt even go on it). Was very annoyed that it said a 10 min queue time when we went in but changed to 30 mins! so we almost missed out Fastpass tickets for buzz. The show itself was fun, esspecially for those who know the films (my rents hadn't a clue what was going on) but i had to say the restaint hurt my back and i couldnt get comfu and the HATED the chilli dog smell. Did feel slightly queezy after that! Yet it is family fun and fits in with Disney a lot more than Alien Encounter.

I took DS when he was 3 to AE. Little did I know he would absolutely freak out in the show and would not stop screaming bloody murder the entire show. I think we traumatized him, since he dislikes the dark, even to this day. So when the Stich "rehab" was done, foolish me took him in hoping that he would like it since he was 5 and loves Philharmagic and ITTBAB (both rides he used to hate). Let's just say that we will not be going back to Stitch until he decides to go by himself.

DF and I "experienced" this ride for the first time in August. It was disappointing for us but I am sure children love it!! I have seen clips of what AE was and we would have definetly loved that. It's definetly worth experiencing but I wouldn't wait longer then 25 min for it! :goodvibes
