Is Sci-Fi worth going to ?

i think its worth it for the atmosphere, thats where we normally do lunch at mgm.

Really enjoyed Sci-Fi the last time we went (a few weeks ago.) Service was great, drinks were great, food was very tasty. We had alot of fun! BLT soup was awesome:)

I had canceled our Sci-Fi ADR for a lunch prior to our trip thinking it wouldn't be worth it. Ended up changing my mind and making an ADR the morning of our MGM day. A great decision. It was a wonderful break at MGM (was there in August heat). My boys (10 and 7 years old) loved it and it may have been their favorite place. Atmosphere was really fun. I didn't think I'd like the idea of sitting with my kids' backs to me, but it was fine. Used credits for DH and my meal. Paid oop for kids (yes, they did ask how old my son was and since he is 10, he had to order from adult menu). But, waiter was the BEST. He was very nice about bringing extra plates to share our appetizers and desserts with the kids. He was the best waiter I have ever had. I wish I knew his name. I told him that he did a great job and he responded that he loved working there. He was so nice. (This was not my experience with all wait staff while on the dining plan and this was pre-free dining). Anyway, everyone in our family is so glad we went. Defintely you should go.

We loved the atmosphere, but I thought the food was awful. DS loved it (he got the kid's hamburger for dinner, then chicken strips for lunch). The Spinach Artichoke dip is acceptable - similar to Applebee's. The BLT soup was interesting - it was OK, but not delicious. The steak at dinner was OK, but the potatoes and veggies with it weren't very good. I hated the Apple Crisp - too tart. And the moon pies were pretty bad. The filling was OK, the ice cream was good, but the cakes were terrible. The worst of all was the chicked ceasar salad entree at lunch. No flavor in the chicken and I didn't like the taste of the dressing. (And I LOVE Ceasar salads as a rule!)

I was a little worried when we decided to try the Sci Fi in May. I had heard just HORRIBLE reviews. However, I must say we were very pleased. DH and I both had a WONDERFUL chicken sandwich with fries and one of their cocktails. DS (was almost 3y) had a hotdog with fries and milk and he loved the movie clips (I agree with another poster though.. If you have sensitive children beware..the clips can be a little frightening. Food was really good , atomosphere was great, service was wonderful.

Do you still have your receipt? It would have your server's name on it.
If you do find his name, be sure to send a message to wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com commending him.

sigh...the only receipt I kept is what I got at the end of our stay. It has a reference number, I don't know if I call the billing number listed if it is on their receipt or not. Our trip was about a month agon. I think I will try that, though, tomorrow. He should get a professional compliment. I did leave him a very generous tip and my praise. But, a pat on the back from the boss is probably better :)
Good idea.

I think every WDW restaurant is worth trying - that's the only way to see if you like it.

We have a lunch ADR at Sci-Fi, but plan to order only appetizers and dessert,
paying OOP. It's a great place, but not worth burning a TS credit over.

we are thinking about going to sci-fi on our trip too, i also am a bit nervous about the food, but i LOVE old sci fi movies. in fact i peeked in the entrance once and saw that they have a huge poster for my favourite sci-fi film, Teenagers From Outer Space, hanging in the lobby. that's a sign we have to go i think :teeth:

When my grandkids found out we were going to Disney World, this is the one ressie they requested, "Neeno, you have to get ressie's for Sci-Fi!" Then they also came up with Chef Mickey's since we've eaten there every time too. These two restaurants are always a given when we go to DW!!! Just order sandwiches and forget the steak and you'll be OK!!

Sci-Fi is great.... for burgers. We love this place. They serve a real good cheeseburger there. I would not order anything else. You can't go to a place like this and expect to get a good pasta dish or steak. It's just not that kind of place. Stick with the hamburgers, fries, onion rings and milk shakes and you will leave happy.
