Ok, this is our first Disney Cruise! We are sailing the Dream May 22nd! We have resevations for Palo on our 3rd night (Pirate Night) and Remy on our 2nd night. Obviously, I don't know our dining rotation but I am OK with skipping dinner on 3rd night for Palo since 4th night is a repeat of same restuarant. I hate to miss out on one of the main dinning restuarants but if Remy is soooo worth it then I will! Thanks for all opinions!

:thumbsup2 one word..............NO! :thumbsup2..........................PS.......OH! , see you guys may 22nd on the DREAM.

i haven't been to remy's yet - but i think you said that this is your first cruise? IMHO, although i understand the reservations can be hard to come by, for my first cruise, i'm not sure that remy's would necessarily be my priority, even though i am definitely the foodie of the family. the reason being, there is alot to explore and experience (maybe not on the same level culinarily) that i would not want you to miss and it is only 4 days....

howevr, there is always something to be said for not missing an opportunity!!

but from what i hear, and to my food loving expectations, i don't see how doing it at least once could not be worth it!

have a great cruise!

We were there 2 nights ago. DH said it was one of his favorite dining experiences ever. I was slightly more lukewarm. The service was absolutely amazing- the chef even came out and chatted with us for a bit. The food was very very good- things we wouldn't eat on a regular basis. I loved the champagne cocktail they started with. I suppose it was worth it for the combination of food and experience, but I don't know if I would do it every time. But then again, I'm a die-hard Palo lover.

One of the best meals I've ever had. Go if you get the chance. You will love it!

I haven't been to Remy yet (next month is our first cruise also!) but DH and I have decided to see if we can get into Palo during our trip. Personally, I don't mind paying an extra $15 for an exclusive, upscale dining experience but $75 (I think that's what it is) seems steep to me when I consider how many thousands of dollars we're already spending just to be on the ship. I may change my mind once I've actually experienced a Disney cruise, but for now I think we'll stick with what's included plus a slight bit of extra at Palo. :-)

i will let u know in 2 weeks when we get back. this will be our first cruise too and we have remy resies! :thumbsup2

Palo is $20 per person for dinner and brunch.

I hope to try Remy in November, I know there are some things on the menu I don't like, but there are a lot of things I do. For me, $75 is fine. I went to Napa Rose in DL for dinner one night and the bill for 4 adults was over $400.00. No visit from the chef, either.

Seriously, the only person who can tell you if it;s worth it is you. Some people really enjoy it, some don't. But my saying it's worth it is only meaning it's worth it to me. You may hate it and them be mad at me because I said it was.

My biggest objection to REMY'S was the lack of a menu (choices) We were given one menu only with no choices at all. I was so looking forward to trying some of the French dishes but alas! strictly the American menu! Don't know if they alternate or not. And no, we were not allowed/given the tasting menu people have talked about. The food was very good - but not excellent, service was incredible, and yes they did add a tip automatically to the $75 pp we have already been charged. Maybe the tip was added because we had 6 in our party, don't know about that.

Did you have alcohol with your meal? DCL told me that the $75 per person included your tip (not including alcohol). We plan on leaving an extra tip, but would not like it if they added one for us.

I believe Remy is supposed to be in the same category as Victoria & Alberts. My dh and I ate there once and it was worth every penny. We booked Remy and are looking forward to it. If this were my first cruise, I would skip Remy.

I'm always curious about a comment like this - I'm wondering if tge diner expected a menu where one chooses their own combinations of starters and entrees not having had a prix fix/"fine dining" experience before and didn't know what to expect? I would be disappointed if it weren't like that! :)
My experience at places like this is that there is a set menu, occasionally a choice between two proteins and the option of trading something if one is allergic like myself.

I haven't been yet - I guess I thought it was a French inspired menu generally? I'll have to look into what the American menu is!

We ate there on 4/11 -- food/service/wine all were excellent. We were able to add courses to the pre-set menu, or do whatever we wanted. If you are a foodie, do not miss.

We were not impressed with Enchanted Garden on the first night and ended up in Remy on night two and Palo nights 3 and 4 . . . Palo was excellent as always :-)

I'm amazed that, after all we've been hearing about how difficult Remy reservations are to come by, that a first time cruiser -- who would book in the last window open -- can secure a reservation.

Good for you!

I would definitely do it for the experience. We started with Palo that way and are now hooked. I'm anticipating difficulty in getting reservations for our B2B New Year's cruise and one directly after it, as both are rumored to be sold out or close to it, but maybe sometime in the future.

Yeah, maybe when I'm finally a Platinum Castaway Club member in 5 more cruises, ack!

Sounds like you were very lucky, so I'd take advantage of that.

Maybe concierge?

Re ?'s about menu/alcohol
First of all a complimentary champagne cocktail was served at the beginning of the meal, all other alcoholic beverages you were charged for. Concerning the menu: a card was sent to our stateroom early in the day outlining the menu for the evening. No, there weren't ANY choices of entree etc. I had seen copies somewhere on the internet that showed the American (Scott Hunnel) menu which is what we were given and the French menu so I had a chance to read both. That is why I was surprised when getting there we were given only one. Yes, I have eaten at V&A's multiple times and absolutely love it! Best food/service anywhere. Remy's had great atmosphere, stellar service second to none, and 'good' food. Yes, I would go back despite the upcharge. That is not a deciding factor for me. The experience also was very nice. One of our party did not eat fish/seafood and they offered her something different - i think it was a veal dish which i had seen on the French menu. That is why I wondered if they alternate this prix fixe menu on different days.

Some friends recently returned from the Dream and hadn't done their research so they didn't know that there was such a large upcharge (they expected something along the line of Palo). Needless to say it was quite a shock! They didn't think it was worth it. The food was good, but they would rather have a great tasting "normal" food like steak than having a fancy, unusual food. I definitely fall in that category, so we are skipping it! My fear is spending all that money and not really eating.

Personally speaking, I don't care how good the food and/or service is, $75pp is just not justified in my book!

We enjoy a nice meal but for the 3 of us to spend $225 to eat that meal is beyond my comprehension.

Just my $.02 worth.

My 75 day window recently opened on a sold out cruise. Remy was wide open. I could have had any of 4 of 5 nights, including the sea day. Palo was tighter, but also had some availability for dinners.
