I'm curious to try it while in Vancouver but I don't even know where to go to grab some.

YES!!!! Try it, most people love it. Fries, gravy and cheese what's not to love. You should know that Poutine comes from Quebec and that is where you will find the best ones. Although all of Canada does eat it. One of my favorites is Poutin with lobster or smoke meat. Delish!!!

Yum...poutine and a smoked meat sandwich screams Montreal for me, but I plan to introduce the fam to both in vancouver!

Poutine is soooo good! I've never met anyone who doesn't like it. It's like perfect comfort food. We lived in a town on the Michigan-Canadian border for a few years and many places even on the Michigan side served it. I miss it so much! I've never been to Vancouver, but I would think most pub-type places would serve it. Maybe check Yelp?

Yes! Mean Poutine which is located at 718 Nelson St, just off Granville Street has delicious poutine. That part of Vancouver reminds me of East Village in NYC.

Enjoy!

I am ambivalent on the poutine issue. I like it, but I think I prefer my fries with just salt.

You should have absolutely no problem finding some in Vancouver. It was on every menu we saw. Some good pubs in the port area are Steamworks, Elephant & Castle and the Lion Pub. All have a variety of poutine options available. Oh, and the Lion Pub has delicious truffle fries that were amazing!

We got it on the touristy stops - Capilano and the aquarium. I'm sure like most tourist places it wasn't up to par with a regular restaurant, but it was still good. :-) My kids hated it, though!

Yes, it's awesome! We went to La Belle Patate in Vancouver, at the time it was rated the best poutine in the city. Nothing fancy, but it was good. And butter chicken is considered very mild.

Our favourite as locals is La Belle Patate on Davie Street. We get poutine and some steamies. We personally love it but try and not get it too often as it's loaded!

The best poutine of all will be made from Cheddar cheese curds from the province of Quebec... But... You know... I guess a canadian one is better than no poutine at all. :snooty:

LOL

Seriously, this is great comfort (junk) food. Find a good place and try it. If the cheese on it comes from Quebec, it's even better.

Please please please do not try the poutine from McDonald's!!!!! Despite what the last poster wrote, there are times when no poutine is the right choice..:crazy2:

Even Wendys and McDonalds has poutine in Canada. I like it. at least they actually use cheese curds.

McDonald's poutine is okay. But the taste and texture doesn't compare. It would be like Olive Gardens vs a great italian restaurant (MCD being OG)... You can like the McDonald one but it doesn't compare to the real one.

Yes! Most fast food places have horrible ones. I will however eat the ones at NYF (New York Fries), Dairy Queen and the chicken gravy ones at KFC. Costco also has a decent poutine.

Although all of Canada does eat it.

Not true. I'm not only from Canada but I grew up in Quebec where poutine originates. I think it's totally disgusting. But it's very popular.

However you should note that "proper" poutine is made with cheese curds, not cheese. Many places serve it simply with grated cheese which is not correctly poutine.
