Is Pop really that bad?

By any chance did your hubby move up to smoke in front of our room, so the smoke wouldn't go into your room? (except in May we were at POR, not POP).
We had a guy smoking by our room (and it was sucked right in)..he said it was so his son with asthma didn't have to smell the smoke. Well, gosh, I got a non smoking room, so my asthma wouldn't be bothered. I just thought this was funny, because that is just what the guy said. :rotfl2:
I really wish that they would have a non smoking building, and those that smoking either stay in the smoking area, or move away from the non smoking building.

I so much agree with this! It seems everywhere I go, mall, Target whatever I have to walk through a thick haze of smoke as people congregate outside to smoke. I know at ASMO we had this problem the first couple of nights as the guy next door would smoke near our room and the smoke would drift in. This can happen at any resort. I also had a problem with smoke at the pool at POR which is an okay place to smoke rule wise but not much fun for those of us who don't smoke. I think the smoking areas and buildings need to be separate. I know I have a cousin who has serious asthma and even short term exposure to smoke can set off an attack. Plus I think smokers should be able to smoke somewhere where they don't get dirty looks and don't have people get up and move away when they light up (which is what I do). That must get old for them too.

No, it had nothing to do with the themeing at all. The room was in a great location in the back of the building near the Hippy Dippy Pool overlooking the Hourglass Lake. It may have been the 60's building now that I think of it but I really don't know or care. We did like the period music being piped in. But honestly, that was about it.The construction in my opinion is shoddy (paper thin walls) and the food was terrible and not much of a selection to boot since the menu doesn't change between lunch and dinner.

Oh that's wonderful. His family was so important to him, that he didn't want to subject them to it, but your family didn't mean squat. What a nice guy. I hope he quit once you said something about it.

its what you make of it. some love it some dont. If I got a rate of $50 a night I may stay there again. My kiddos loved the resort- I on the other had did not. :confused3 we do like to spend alot of time at the resort hanging out and it just wasnt my cup of tea but thats whats great about disney- there are so many resorts to chose from. have fun.

Hi everyone!

With all these recent posts on how bad Pop century is.... I'm getting very nervous. My Dh and I are going to be staying there July 24th-27th. We will probably be hanging out at the resort too, since I'm sure the parks are going to be packed and it'll be hot and we will want to swim. This is a last minute trip. We were just at WDW at the WL in February. and we are planning on going back again for a week in February 2006. I know not to expect a deluxe resort, but I just can't help wonder if we should upgrade to a moderate. We just can't afford to stay at a deluxe this trip. We do have APs, so we do get that discount. Would you recommend switching or stay put? If you recommend switching, then to what resort? Thanks for all your help.

I stayed at pop last fall and I loved it! I will be staying there again next year. I don't have one complaint about our 7 night stay there :goodvibes

It is now our favorite value resort! ASMo still holds a special place in my heart. Lots of wonderful memories there. POP has a very "disney" atmosphere! It is "funky" and upbeat and very vibrant! It may seem busy, but that's what I love about this place. It has full of action, especially with lots of kids enjoying themselves. We fit right in because I have two small children and this place is very kid friendly.

It is fresh and new. And I think it is better than ASR. But I wouldn't rule out the ASMo or the ASsp. They are wonderful resorts as well.

Nope..nothing changed.

We stayed at Pop for 10 days last August and we LOVED it. My wife really surprised me because she is the type of person that dosen't make a big fuss over things, but she kept saying how cool the place was.

We are going back again this August for a week. I was going to make reservations at CSR but my wife and daughter stopped me and said we want to go back to POP.

We have previously stayed at CBR and POFQ and liked them but we liked Pop better - and they are both mods. Even if I had to pay extra I would stay at Pop becuase we liked it so much.

When I read all the negative reviews on Pop I am amazed becuase when you walk in the place you are surrounded by great atmosphere, great music and it really puts you in a vacation mood. I just can't believe they are talking about the same resort I went to. I guess it's different strokes for different folks. I can't wait to go back. Pop Century here I come.

We just got back from 2 nights at the POP, and liked it. I would not say LOVED it, but it is nice. For 1-3 nights I think it is awesome.. For more than that, NO, (too long walks), food court gets old, No frig, etc...

I could not imagine a week there... But for value-1-3 nights, it can't be beat!!!

Sorry, But I am used to DVC accomodations, and this fits the bill for Weekends, but not for a week..

HTH!
