Is park hopping very time consuming?

Going mid Feburary for 7 nights and am looking at a 5 day pass but I have no idea if we'll like hopping or not. Also thinking the water parks will be too cold....we've never been to a waterpark though, especially in Florida in Feburary.

For us , park hopping is not a experience that we plan or try to do,,for us it is simply a convenience.

I like the Park Hopper because I tend to eat at the same park every time. I end up having to park hop every time. We are suppose to visit in December and we are eating almost all the time at Epcot!

Park hopping for us is a treat. I am actually considering not hopping this year to save the extra 50.00 per ticket (x 6 tickets). I like going to one park in the a.m. - coming back to the camper and attending a different park in the p.m.

We would take a mid -day break regardless if we went back to the same park or a different park.

I have an AP which has park hopping built in, but if for some reason I had a regular ticket, park hopping would be very important to me.

We might visit three parks in a day, but not all day every day.

We'll go to breakfast somewhere, then go to a park for maybe 1 attraction (mainly to use as a transfer point to get back to our resort), then back to the camper or room for a good part of the day, then off to a park just before dinner, and do 1 or two attractions, then after dinner it's off to the evening EMH park. That is when we do most of our touring. We especially love MK from midnite to 3am!!

The park hopper option lets you be flexible. I ALWAYS go the Magic Kingdom the first day and this year it looked like it might start raining mid-afternoon (doesn't it always?). We hopped on the mono-rail and went to Epcot. We felt that the front half of Epcot gave us lots of indoor options should the rain hang around for a while. If you are going to make reservations for a sit down restaurant, the park hopper option lets you take advantage of available reservations for days you might not be in that park. ...and NOW is the time to make your dining reservations for a February visit. I believe the dining books open 6 months in advance.

We're big on hopping. :yay:

We like to bebop from one park to another for meals, fireworks, Dole Whip floats... ;)

If you're not sure, you can always hold off on adding the option to your ticket until you get there and decide if you actually need it. You can add PH to your tickets at any time during your stay - costs about $50 (+tax) per ticket regardless of the number of days.

We agree! We also have AP so it is not an add for us but when we have friends/family come down with us we always get them to add the hopper. That way if at the end of the day you are just too tired to stay for the parade or fireworks or if there is an attraction that was really busy but that you really don't want to miss out on, you can come back and do it another day/night. Very convenient.

Park hopping can be easy with some pre-planning. We pick out our priority attractions and use the daily schedule for times. For example, AK, in our opinion, is best early in the morning. Even if there are a lot of people waiting in line at the opening, the size of the park "absorbs" the crowd quickly. It usually takes us about half a day to hit our favorites. Then back to the Fort for a break (lunch, pool, rest). Since we are not that into the AK Parade we usually head to the Studios in the afternoon. The only place we usually devote a whole day to is Epcot because it is our favorite.

We have done the park hopping once... and would never do again. It made everything seemed stressed and rushed. For us, it is not worth the extra costs. We prefer devoting a full day to each park... and it's cheaper.

We do all 4 parks the same day. We just go in do the thing we like to do and leave. the key is driving to the park so you don't burn up your time waiting for the buses

Park hopping just for the sake of exploring multiple parks in a day would be time consuming and (in my opinion) not worth it. But, if you break up you day with a trip back to the camper for a nap, meal, swim, etc, and you plan to return to a park after, then it doesn't add any time to select a different park for the second part of the day. We do exactly that, and would never go without the park hopper add-on.

Park hopping really depends on your needs. If all you really want to do is one park all day or leave and return later that day to the same park, it is not needed.

It does give you a great deal of flexibility though. Animal Kingdom for example closes fairly early in the day most days unless EMH. With Park Hopper you have the ability to go to one of the open parks that night for fireworks, parade or dinner.

I go solo a lot and it gives me the ability to breeze through one park in the morning, go take a break in the afternoon and then go somewhere else that night.

:thumbsup2 We too, on occassions, will visit all 4 parks in day and we too use our own vehicle.

I think alot has to do with "how many in your party" and as much as I hate to say it your age. We enjoy the "Hopper" since we can vist MK early then go to Epcot in the late afternoon/evening for dinner.

Just got back and the Park Hopping was GREAT.

With the extended hours for disney hotel guests and parking pass - I was able to fly around park to park. 2 hours in the mornings Animal Kingdom, then down 192 for lunch, then to another park, then hit another park with the extra magic hours to end the day (or whoever was open latest).

The shuttle buses go everywhere too, you just have to figure out in advance where each picks up / drops off / connects - to save time.

We love to hop, especially with kids. We thought that it would be a hassle too, but after years of doing it, we wouldnt go without that option. Like others had mentioned, we do one park in the morning, go back to the hotel for a re-charge and then do another park in the afternoon, sometimes go to a third park for the fireworks/parade. Just remember to give yourself about 40min for travel between, in case there are lines, etc. Have a great trip!
