I am the same age as the PP and I LOVED the old one. I guess that means that I was mature for my age!! (Not even close!)

OP - If you don't want to read the paper, put the news on. Do I sit and stare at the television for the full half hour of the nightly news? No. I put it on as I'm cleaning or doing something else. You'd be surprised how much you absorb! I started this when I was younger because I honestly had no interest or understanding of politics. The more I exposed myself, the more I learned. Based on your other posts, you may not believe this, but knowledge is very powerful.

Look I know I'll probably get flames for that but I don't think it is such a bad thug, my husband is a smart man and I value his opinion. And no he doesn't tell me who to vote for, he will just say his opinion on the candidates and I agree with him.
Editing in to add that I'm 27 , not 29, please I don't need to be any closer to 30 than I have to be ok.

You know, I ask my husband what he thinks too. We discuss politics a lot...and then we both vote the way we believe, sometimes it's for the same candidate and sometimes it is not.

Every time you post I get the feeling that you are a very sweet, sheltered, and clueless child. I hope your family will always be there to take care of you.

There is nothing wrong with asking others what they think of current political situations. The problem is when you allow their opinions to overtake your own. Hopefully you take his advice into consideration, but make your own decision once you're in the voting booth. Otherwise you're just giving someone else 2 votes, which isn't fair to other voters or to the candidates. You'd be better off not voting at all, if you don't want to take the time to form your own opinions.

As to the original topic about conspiracy theories, I have to say that I can't get enough of them. While I've never subscribed to any of the ones I've heard, I will say that they are an important part of the human existence. In another thread (I think?) someone mentioned the 9/11 Conspiracy movie "In Plane Sight." While the crux of the arguments can be easily disputed, the fact remains that there are some important questions asked regarding the event that were never answered. If the conspiracy theorists are able to pose those difficult questions and they lead to good answers (probably NOT the ones the theorists believe), then the existence of the theory has served a greater good.
