Is October a good time to go?

Hope so because we are going back this October! Our first trip was a quick 2 day visit in February 2014 (10th & 11th). THAT was great weather for Florida and not busy. Trying out October because of MNSSHP and free dining and F&W festival.

Generally speaking yes October is a good time, but keep in mind October has seen growth in crowds in recent years with Free Dining (if offered), MNSSHP, Epcot Food & Wine, plus many schools now taking a mid October break week so it may be a little more busy then you would think. Personally I would suggest September as better time at least in terms of crowds, but October is much better than say any holidays or summer.

October is by far my favorite time to go! My husband and I have gone every year for Food and Wine for the past 5 years. This is the first year we aren't going but that's because the room only bounce back offers excluded October, so we're going in December instead. Each year it has progressively become more crowded so don't go expecting low crowds. A good plan is a good idea! Use rope drop and you will be able to get a lot done! I am really sad we aren't going this year but hopefully next year! Enjoy!

I am trying to decide when to go in 2017. What are the crowds like in mid October?
Weather is great. F&W is great. Crowds are building every year. I would put October crowds the last few years on par with Spring Break.

Avoid Columbus Day and the weekend prior to it and stay away from WS on Sat and you'll do fine.

Never been in October, but the first and second weeks of November are always lovely!

I've only been in October once, but it was my favorite time of all the many other times of the year I've been.

Our last trip was October 2014. We were there the last week of the month for 4 nights. It was still low to mid 80s, so swimming was fine and it was still tolerable heat while in the parks. The parks didn't seem to get too crowded until around lunch time.

I think if you go after Columbus day, or the last week of the month, you won't be as likely to run into school breaks.

I hope so. I usually go end of October and the crowds are nice, but last year we went mid-October and it was INSANE! And then everyone seemed to agree that October's crowds had gotten pretty bad, so I am hoping that this year since we are going at the end of October again things mellow out a bit.
