Is November a good month to go to Hawaii?

Thinking about booking a trip to Aulani for November and then hopping to Maui. How is the weather in November? Is it a good month to go?

Any month is a good time to go to Hawaii. The weather there does not vary significantly from month to month.

You are definitely more likely to get significant rain in Dec-Feb, than you are in Jun/Jul. November can be a good month to go - slightly cooler weather than in summer time, but still usually warm enough for beach activities. In October, the number of rainy days starts to increase, and towards the end of Nov, you’re more likely to encounter some of the multi-day storms that pass through, but I wouldn’t worry too much, unless you’re planning on late Nov.

It’s usually luck of the draw. The hurricane season is actually early fall, but most of the time, nothing actually rolls through. 85% of the time when it does rain, you’ll get a few minutes of heavy rain, followed soon by sunshine. But every now and then, you can get a storm that hangs around for a few days.

We've been to Aulani 4x...all between the end of October and the week before Tgiving. In 30 total days there...it rained one time....while we were at dinner at Ama Ama. It went from calm to torrential downpour in about 30 minutes. It actually added to the ambiance of dinner.

We're going again early November and can't wait.

October, November, April, May are the best months, lighter crowds and best weather. Having said that Hawaii really does not have bad months, but the summer is a little hotter and February march will get more rain

Weather will be spectacular. Waves will be decently strong in November, but at most resort beaches that isn't an issue.

That table should be relatively correct throughout the islands. Total rainfall of course will vary from place to place on each island, but the rainier months will see more rain all over.

Even in the wetter months you’d usually still see the sun. There are chances you’ll end up with 5-6 days of cloudy weather, but more likely, a day/morning of clouds that blow through, dump a bunch of rain, and then drift away:

LOL - I seem to run into 3-4 days of overcast every time I go in February, but nowhere near that bad!

Like I mentioned - that chart is mostly relatively correct. For Kauai, you need to multiply the rainfall amounts by 2.5x, but the curve is mostly the same.

There is one anomaly I see - March is usually the wettest month - this isn’t reflected in the chart k5xs provided. Here’s one I pulled up which breaks it out by island (with Kauai leading the way!)

Thanks for the info. I understood that Aulani was on the "dry side" of the island. As you can see when you drive there you go through a lot of brown scenery until you get to the Ko Ilina area where they have installed extensive irrigation.

OTOH, if people are heading toward the center of the island the mountains seem to always have rain clouds over them.

Honolulu’s Inouye International Airport (where the data was collected) is in the same desert-like area of Oahu as is Aulani. You’re correct, it’s arid.
