He is currently living with us and going with us in Oct next year and was wondering if he would qualify for the DVC discount on annual passes because he lives in my household. TIA!

I don't see why not.

Although I'm not sure if they ask for licences on adults to prove same household... can't remember. If they do does his licence have your address or does it still have an old one (not sure if this is a temporary situation where he didn't formally change his address)

Based on the comment online on the DVC member benefits page - "The fun just got better! As a Disney Vacation Club Member, you and and your immediate family (living in the same household) can save on select annual passes for Walt Disney World Resort in Florida." I would think my brother qualifies since he is my brother and lives in my household. Now just need him to get his license changed since he hasn't updated it since moving out of my mom's house ages ago :)

If he is 18 or over, he must have photo ID showing your address.

Although... how strict is that? I mean here if you move from one town to another in the same state the RMV would just give you a sticker to put on the back with the new address.

You don't even HAVE to do that since there is a line on the back and it says "Change of address, print below. Permanent Ink." so apparently if I move I don't even have to tell them and chan just write it in.

Try it, but don't be surprised if you don't qualify. Disney isn't going to give you $200 off just because you wrote on the back.

I wasn't trying to get tickets so not an issue for me. However my point is that even if you legitmatly move and change your address with the RMV they aren't going to give you a new licence. Which means they would 100% be illegible and have legally moved and disney wouldn't allow it because you live in a state that doesn't reprint licences.

That could be a problem. I don't know what Disney would let you use when you can't get a new ID. It might be a good question for MS. This must come up often if there are many states that will not give you an updated license. In PA we can go to the DMV and get a photo ID, you don't need to have a license, just an ID that indicates where you live.

We can get him a drivers license with our address without a problem. He needs to change it anyway. He left it as my moms while he was living in apartment because his mail wasn't safe. Now he's with us, and if it saves him $100-200 on the pass, I am sure he will pay the $20 to have his license updated.

We just changed our address and received new drivers' licenses with the new address. We live in Minnesota.

AFAIK, if your drivers' licenses doesn't give you a new card when you move, you'll need to provide another form of photo ID with your address.

He'll need to show proof of the address of record but he'll quality if he can do that.

I suspect he'll have to give up any DL from elsewhere to do so. Even for a state ID you normally have to give up the DL from elsewhere now. There are some fees and hassle. He may want to change it and leave it with your address for now as long as it's in the same state as he'll be once he moves.

Wouldn't be a change of state so it will not be a big deal. Our whole family has lived in the same state for 20+ yrs. Thanks everyone!

And fwiw my state doesn't even have a spot to write a new address anymore, and it is NOT required by the DMV to get (and pay for) a new license.

In PA, you can do it online and they just send you a card with the new address to keep with your license until it expires. There is not a charge. That was one of the first things I did after I moved. Then I had to carry the extra card for over 3 years until my license renewed.

I don't know about the DVC angle, but there is a specific, published list of acceptable documents that can prove Florida residency. I would think the list should be similar to show proof of residency at the DVC Members address.

The documents state that all adults over 18 need to produce either a drivers license or state ID card with the same address. No other means for proof of address are listed.

Good info, and that clears it up (at least for me).
That said, I can't imagine why they would use the same criteria such as financial statements with address to the individual.
I guess they have their reasons.

I actually I think in practice the ticketing or GS CMs accept others docs.

I may have even had them do that. :ssst: But I wasn't counting on it and was ready to pay the full amount. It was for my mother, who was living with us, but could not drive anymore and was too overwhelmed with the thought of going to get a new ID card until her old one expired.

Technically though, it states that they must have one of those two photo ids.

The Memberships Extras Acknowledgement and Extras is where I found the statement that either the DL or State IDs with same address are required for picking up the APs. This was in the April 4th revision.

Where are you finding the other documents are allowed? I did think at some time in the past that a few other items were allowed but when I went for the list last night it was only the 2 showing.

As I said though, in practice I think other means are often taken. And my experience was several years ago and my mother still didn't technically have exactly what they wanted but they accepted what we had as proof enough. They might have reduced what's considered allowed for DVC when they updated with the new restrictions in April. I'd have to dig out our docs from time of purchase to compare but was a little surprised last night to see the short list, but that seems to be it at this time as far as I could tell.
