Is MNSSHP worth the admission price?

We live here and have AP's and go quite often to all the parks. Is there really that many different things to do than any other day? I understand characters are in costume, trick-or-treating, and there is a special parade. Anything else?
We are a family of 4 so it would cost about $135.00 for a non-AP discount day and I can buy a lot of candy for that price or a nice dinner at the Yachtsman Steak House instead.
We don't have anything against going; we just don't want to be disappointed.

why not go to the AP discount days?

We went on 9/30 and didn't do much trick or treating, did lots of people watching, but the parade and the fireworks IMO was worth the money.

However, if you don't go you're not missing out on much. I say, get an ADR for Cali Grill on the MNSSHP night right around the fireworks and watch Hallowishes from there. The music from Hallowishes is fantastic.

So what did you end up doing?

We went to our first party this year and definitely thought it was worth the money. We lived in Miami for four years and went to Disney at least half a dozen times a year, but loved seeing the MK "after dark" and characters in costume, new parade/fireworks, etc. Hope you'll consider going - it was so much fun and your kids will probably love it!
