Reading all the posts about it, everyone has sparked my interest. Could be a nice thing to take the kids to since we live only a little over an hour away.
I think it depends on what night you go. If you go on Halloween or very close to it I would think it would be crowded. If you go in the beginning of Oct--and most likely on a weeknight--I dont think they are to bad.
Your busiest nights will be the ones sheduled on Friday or Saturday nights, which typically attract many locals. The 31st is always the busiest regardless. Factoring in the influence of locals, any other day would be slower by virtue of it being a school night(most parents with small children are not willing to keep their kids out until after midnight when they have to be up for school the next morning). I've used this rule of thumb on three previous trips and it has served me well in choosing MNSSHP dates that are not as crowded. This year we'll be going on a Sunday and Thursday night. The weather would be my only other concern.
