Is Mineral Makeup "Addicting"?

Today's special value on QVC is a Bare escentuals makeup kit. It is a great deal. Tune in from 8pm to 10pm for their final showing of the bare escentuals products. Great makeup tips too!! :thumbsup2

Thanks for all the info everyone!

There is an Ulta and a Sephora store not too far from me. I'll have to make a special trip one day to try them out (sans children!) I'm really interested in this stuff but I definately want to try it out before making the investment!!!

Thanks again!

I have 3 holes uncovered in my FS foundation jar, and I'll do one shake with the lid on to get my minerals onto the lid.

Then I'll unscrew the lid and use what's there to do my face. I tend to apply backwards to the 'official' instructions, but it works for me because I like to make sure that my blotches on cheecks are covered.

That's a great idea about the cotton rounds though- I'll have to start doing that! I usually take the sifter off to dump the minerals back into the jar.

I'm always learning something new.

Today I bought the fashionista kit on QVC because it had so many things in it. Did I mention that I have NO IDEA how this works :confused3 but I'm tired of the worn look at the end of the day and my face is breaking out more now than when I as a teenager. Is there somewhere I'll be able to go for tips on how to put this stuff on like the mascara (I don't even know if that's included) but I saw it's just a wand with goop and no brush on it. I hope ya'll can help me through this :thumbsup2

BTW, QVC is currently doing the presentation of the TSV from Bare Escentuals at this moment- if anyone is interested........

lovemygoofy - don't worry about it. It will be a breeze for you. I was very skeptical and was having the same feelings about my skin...I saw BM adverstised on the late night commericals and i said to myself, what the heck I am going to try it. I really had no idea at that time how much I wuold love this product.

It is all very easy to apply and I believe you can log onto QVC and find tutorials. Also, I believe with the kits you get instructions right from Leslie on how to apply.

You will truly love this stuff and will be totally happy with it. I am. I have used it now for over 3 years and like DVC, i wish i would have found it sooner.
Good Luck !!

Okay, two questions - how many steps does this foundation process take to apply? I HATE spending a ton of time on my makeup.

It takes me 5 minutes from start to finish (after I wash and moisturize).

My process includes BM foundation application with the flawless applicaiton and kabuki brush, glimmer (blush) on my cheeks and mascera/eyeshadow on my eyes (non BM).

It will take you longer when you begin. I suggest practicing on a weekend when you have some time.

wdwmom2 ~ that makes sense ;)

lovemygoofy-

There is a tutorial that is available in either DVD or VHS. If you're interested, I can email you the information.

Also, keep in mind that if you're used to using nonmineral makeup (like liquid)- it's really easy to use too much in the beginning.

Start with a really small amount, and build gradually. Take a look, and if you think that you still need to apply more- walk away from the mirror for a few minutes. Then return and take another look.

It's easy to get frustrated in the beginning, but keep at it! You'll be glad you did, and the efforts are worth it!

How do you know what color foundation to get? Would you buy the same color you would use in liquid foundation?

most women wear the medium foundation. if you are light or fair then get either of those....likewise if you are darker complected get tan or dark.

i have always gotten medium and found in the summer when i am tanner i need a little darker. i usually just add a little warmth to my medium foundation and then that way i don't have to buy two different colored foundations.

Check out this page - http://www.beaddicts.com/befoundation.html. If you click on the names, you'll see a picture of the color. The odd numbered foundations are pink based, and the even numbered ones are yellow based. The "decimal" foundations are a mix of the two. I am pretty pale, but #1 was too light and pink, and #3 was too dark and pink, so #1.2 was my perfect match. The colors are very forgiving because they go on so sheer.

I am a convert to BE! I threw away all my Clinique and Estee stuff after I got an intro kit and I will NEVER wear a liquid foundation again. I was at my MIL's birthday party today and my SILs kept asking me if I lost weight because I looked so good!

I originally bought the fairly light/light foundation kit, but today on QVC, I purchased the Today's Special Value in the Medium. I figured I can mix and match!

thank you for the site and the information. :thumbsup2

Okay so I am looking at the QVC site, what all does one need to get started on BE? What is sheer veil and what do you need it for?

:confused3

Anyone else order today's special value on QVC???? I did!!!!! I'm just like a kid in a candy store when Bare Minerals is on :hyper: .

I ordered today's QVC special value. I've heard so much about BE that I have to give it a try. I ordered the Med. Beige...I hope I'm right about the tone. The only reservation that I heard was from an on-air caller. She said something to the effect that you have to play with it to get it right and that it takes some time to get the hang of it. These weren't the exact words, but the general idea. To all you BE addicts out there...what is the trick to getting this right? I want this to work and I don't want to get discouraged.

Quite honestly, the best thing to start with is the infomercial kit at www.bareminerals.com. It gives you all the tools you need to get started at a very good price.

The Mineral Veil is a translucent finishing powder that helps keep the "shinies" in check.

The key is not using too much to start with. It takes very little to get good coverage. Remember, this will not be the kind of coverage you had with liquid makeup. It will be your skin, but better. Don't pull the label off the holes of the foundation jar and blush jar. Just poke some holes in the label...maybe 4. If that's not enough, go for 6. Anyway, turn the jar over (with the top on!) and tap lightly on the bottom and turn the jar right side up. There should be some minerals in the lid. Swirl your brush in that really well, tap the brush lightly on the side of the lid and start buffing it into your skin.

It may look like you don't have enough on. Don't be tempted to put on more just yet. Leave the room for a minute and come back in and look at yourself in the mirror. If you feel you need more, repeat the above steps, including leaving the room. The biggest mistake new users make is putting on too much, and then they get a really shiny face.

Take a look at the videos on the infomercial site, http://www.bareminerals.com/demo.html. This will help you with the application since you can see it being demonstrated. Also, check out www.beaddicts.com (my site) and look at the BE FAQs and the BE Tips. There's tons of helpful info there.

Well I just ordered the Special Value Kit. So I hope that gets me started.
:Pinkbounc

I ordered the Medium beige also. And if I have to I will order just the foundation in a different color and mix the two. I just need to see how it looks in person.

Well if I sit and keep watching this I might order more.

I need to go to bed.

Thank you ladies for all your help. :thumbsup2

You will need a brush to apply the foundation because there isn't one in the kit. I highly recommend this brush: http://*******.com/fp2mx It really applies the foundation really well and it's super soft. I don't recommend drug store brushes for foundation because so many of them are not designed for mineral makeup application.
