Is LeCellier dinner worth the $$ if paying OOP?

So DH and I are considering hiring a babysitter on our upcoming trip so we can have a date night at Epcot for our 10 year anniversary...I mean...I think that's the least we deserve since we're bringing our kiddos with us ;)

We LOVE LeCellier and usually do it for lunch....but want to try Akershus with the kids and than thought to eat there for our adult only dinner...except the prices are high!!! For what we want I think I figured it would be about $100. Do you think that's a good value or should we consider somewhere else?? We do have the world at our finger tips at Epcot!:lmao:

I usually budget ~$50pp for TS at Disney. Sometimes it's a bit less, sometimes more.

No I don't think its worth it, but I'm not a big LeCellier fan. That being said, Epcot is great for a "date night".

We love LeCellier and I would never personally pay out of pocket for it. I think it's disgustingly overpriced even for Disney and if it were not on the dining plan we wouldn't eat there. And I'm from NY where restaurants are overpriced!!

I think that all Disney restaurants are overpriced compared to the normal world. I don't think Le Cellier is any worse.

I would have to say no that Le Cellier is not worth it for dinner even though we enjoy a burger there for lunch.

For date night I would chose something like Citricos or Artist Point. If you are set on going to Epcot, I think San Angel Inn has more ambience but unfortunately a crowded dining area.

Even though I can't recommend it since I haven't been there, I would like to try the Bistro De Paris the next time DH and I head to the world without the kids.

Hope you have a wonderful anniversary whereever you decide to dine.:goodvibes

It sounds like you've been there before so is it worth it for you?

DH and I love it and have paid out of pocket and on the dining plan (before and after being made a signature). We have fabulous food each time and a fabulous time.

I agree. I feel the same way. That place is so over rated, soooooo NOT worth the money OOP. No way in heck. Go elsewhere!

Agreed. Le Cellier gets singled out by so many "not worth it" and "disappointing" posts because people had insanely high expectations for a casual Disney restaurant. Whereas whenever I go (and acknowledge that the menu items might cost a few extra dollars than they might in the real world), I usually enjoy myself, although some menu items are definitely better than others.

As far as I'm concerned, Le Cellier lunch is one of the better 1-credit locations on property in terms of food quality. :)

I totally agree! I think for 1 credit, it's the best theme park TS restaurnt in WDW. I don't expect a signature meal for lunch (just b/c it's signature dinner). My expectation of TS restaurants in the park is very low so I enjoy Le Cellier. It's higher than my "expectation." If I'm expecting something great, I'll go for resort signature TS. :goodvibes

Agreed. The food in the theme parks isn't great overall (including Epcot, IMO). I think Hollywood Brown Derby is my favorite park restaurant, but Le Cellier is probably second (as Bistro de Paris largely disappointed me from a food and atmosphere standpoint).

But add in the resort signatures, and for the most part Le Cellier doesn't truly compete with them (I think the dinner food is probably better than Narcoossee's, and depending on the night it can be better than others as well). Still, it's usually a solid choice if I really want to eat in the park, and I can't think of many 1-credit restaurants that serve a better dish than the filet with truffle butter (Sanaa's slow-cooked dishes might be more 'interesting', even though the spice levels are on the mild side).

If you're paying OOP and you're in Epcot, consider exiting through the International Gateway and take a 10 minute walk over to Shula's Steakhouse in the Swan or Dolphin (I can never keep them straight in my mind). It is a legitimate award-winning restaurant, and the food doesn't need the Disney name or theming to make it an exceptional experience.

I love Le Cellier, we always pay out of pocket, have never done DDP, one DD eats like a bird and I cant justify it and the other DD is so picky, I still cant justify the DDP when all she will eat is chicken strips, so anyway, any really nice restaurant that you go to your are gonna spend close to $100. We live in Arkansas and go to Wiederkehrs (like the wine) restaurant and they serve a filet that is similair to Le Cellier and we pay about $90 for our meal there, so to us, it isn't to overpriced because we get about that at home. To other people I'm sure that it is overpriced, but adding prices and credits, I would rather pay out of pocket at LeCellier, I think for credits, 2 is high, that adds up to alot of money for 1 meal.

IMO, none of the Epcot restaurants is a good pick for a date night anymore. They are all too crowded, chaotic and noisy. And, the food has gone downhill at all of them. Perhaps the only one I would remotely consider is the Morroccan restaurant, as it does not get as much business as the others, so is at least somewhat romantic (okay, not romantic but at least quieter). Plus, the belly dancer is fun to watch.

If paying OOP, I would go to Shula's. It's not that much more and much, much better.
