Is Jim Lewis doing a good job at DVC?

But back to the question of the results of a non-binding poll going contrary to Disey's plans...do you think the poll should take precedence over the DVC board...and if so, wouldn't it then be more than a simple non-binding poll? Why should the membership be asked to pay for a poll if the results are non-binding?

Oh I am not agreeing or disagreeing with merits of the concept, just that doing something isn't as difficult or expensive as anyone thinks.

I am actually quit happy with everything and could for the most part don't care about valet issue other than failure to give anyone a heads up. I get the quarterly magazine and stupic Deevee See video e-mails, so they obviously have a way to communicate.

This thread is making me re-think buying into DVC! :scared1:

Sounds like a lot of unhappy DVC members out there.

If you are buying DVC simply because of a specific non-guaranteed perk, rather than the right to use your home resort, you would be purchasing for the wrong reason.

It would be the equivalent of you would purchase a residence because the owners currently received free cable, knowing that could change.

There are something like 400,000 DVC members (150,000 families) and you're only seeing a small sampling of responses. With something like this, it's a given that most of the vocal feedback will be negative, but that doesn't mean that tens-of-thousands are regretting their purchase.

Like Chuck said, perks will come and perks will go. Some of the rules and regs of the program may even be tweaked over time to your advantage or disadvantage. But that doesn't change the fact that you're still likely to vacation for $.25-.35 on the dollar for the next 40-50 years with DVC. Being asked to pay $12 per day for valet (an optional service), doesn't do much to diminish the overall value of the program.

Whether you remain a cash guest or buy into DVC, over the next few decades The Walt Disney Company is likely to make changes which you greet with some level of disappointment. Whether it's raising ticket prices during a deep recession, changing the terms of a dining plan or making you pay for valet, change is inevitable.

No just a bunch opinionated and long winded owners/DISERS who think their ideas are the only ones that are right. :surfweb::rotfl2: I decided to use orange because it's Texas-OU weekend. Not quite the right orange but guess who I'll be cheering for. :)

Yep kinda like Texas fans that think their team will win. ;) Sorry but you set yourself up for that one. :lmao:

Well, Teasip, good thing you aren't opinionated and long winded.

We have been members since 2003...love the parks...love the villas....but really like the Disney cruise....usually work a stay at the parks into every cruise we do.....and we go to the member celebrations on the ship. We also go to the presentations for prospective members. We sailed on the Wonder in September and attended both....and the presentations were in my opinion a little more high pressure. We were reminded many times of how tough the economy has become and they both had families to feed. Was kind of funny when it was being said, but seemed after a while that maybe they were being a little serious. The valet parking is not much of a big deal for us....although we really liked it. Now I will drop the wife off and park the car. Communication is the key and they are not real good at it.

So we now have discounted annual passes and dining plan, both profit makers for Disney, meaning one can only ask how could they have been so dumb not to provide those earlier than they did. We also of course now have a $95 fee to trade out to Disney hotels, another of Jim's "membership enhancements." Free internet: if there is any cost involved, you are paying for it via dues so "free" is a misnomer.

He uses Disney Files (a magazine we pay for) to promo and seek contributions for a mainly management timeshare PAC, ADRA, i.e., he uses our money to promo his organization so that DVD does not have to pay mailing or other costs out of its own pocket to seek contibutions.

Website sucks and why is it that the search engine can never find anything you are looking for. Housekeeping needs serious improvement including something simple like just spot-checking to make sure they are actually cleaning the rooms. His main focus has always been sales not membership quality. His ability to communicate with members is abysmal.

The great point change disaster: this is an example of completely mindless and callous management. They sell BLT using a point chart that purchasers rely on in making decisions to buy points. Then after four months of excellent sales, Big Jim and his crew do two things in sequence: create a 100 point minimum add-on for BLT and then change the charts to make all week nights higher, effectively telling the BLT purchasers, who had not yet even been able to use their points, that they are screwed and can't even buy a low point add-on. That is mangement at its callous worst because it just emphasizes that they did not think at all about the impact on members. They afterwards changed the 100 point add on minimum back to 25 following a lot screaming.

My vote: I will take whatever evil replaces him.

Yep, I agree with you!!

Although I have been critical of DVC I am still glad that I have bought.

I do though think it could be a lot better with a little more effort and consideration from DVC.

Although some perks have gone, none of the changes are really big issues for me.

Lets hope it keeps that way!

Sorry, but I have very selfish reasons for hoping that Oklahoma has a good weekend. Break a leg, and ROLL TIDE!
