Is jan 7-13 a bad time to go?

we originally had a plan to go on a 4 night Disney cruise jan 7-11 but that changed when we realized we couldn’t afford a room higher than deck 2 (and we wanted midship not aft or forward in case anyone got sea sick). Since plans changed we realized we could afford a 7 day trip at the parks and be able to add in some special things as well (bbb, maybe a character breakfast ect). Anyway just wondering how the second week of jan is? Are there a lot of ride closures? Heavy crowds? Are prices a little better at this time or are they still substantial like they are for dec-new yr? We typically go in Oct but due to my college schedule have to go during one of my breaks.

Will have at least 2 adults and a 12 and 4 yr old when we go...possibly my parents as well

Is jan 7-13 a bad time to go?

It is if you don't want to accidentally run into me.
We're planning a trip during that time in 2019.

It's generally a decent time to go.
The Marathon is that weekend, but that doesn't affect the parks, much.

I'm of the opinion that a bad day at Disney is better than a good day anywhere else

We’re planning on that week but my parents keep telling us the parks will be packed and prices will still be sky high from the holidays. I remember being in the parks after a marathon in November and it didn’t seem any more busy from our October trip but they think jan will be different. Also because most schools will have the first week off they think parents will keep the kids out a few more days. Hopefully prices won’t be at Christmas level and crowds will be less...

The marathon is at the tail end of that time frame. It might make getting around more complicated certain mornings...and will probably impact occupancy.

We were there that time this past year and, unfortunately, it was super crowded. Over the past year we have been for week-long trips in June, July, October, and January. Surprisingly January was by far the most crowded with the longest lines. We still had a great time and we didn't find the crowds so heavy that we were necessarily bothered by them (well, except for the first day at MK when it got so crazy we gave up and headed over to the Wave Lounge for a few drinks - it was a change of plans but was still a fun afternoon as we had never been to the Wave Lounge before). I think, for the most part, heavy crowds are just the norm throughout the year now. You will still have fun!

It's actually more likely to skew the OTHER way.
The kids have been off school for the better part of a month already, and LOCAL school kids and their families (often a big factor in swelling crowds) don't generally take extra time off after Christmas break.

Otherwise, many adults who took time off from their jobs at Christmas are trending toward returning to work.
