Alright, this is the last review!
We had spent the morning at MGM (yeah, yeah, the Studios. Whatever.) with the Morrows and went on TSMM for the first and second times. Awesome! Bit of advice - if you want to get on that ride with shorter than a 1 hour wait get to the park before rope drop. Run IMMEDIATELY and get a fast pass, then hop on line. You will still have a 20 minute wait, but that's relatively short, plus you will have a fast pass for a normal time, not the end of the day.
We had ADR's for 1:20 at Sci Fi, but we were hungry about 12:00 so we went to see if they could seat us early. They couldn't and told us to come back in an hour, so we went at 1:00 and were seated right away.
Mr. & Mrs. Morrow and I started with the Orbiting Oreos (Orbiting Oreos - Oreo shake mixed with Godiva chocolate liqueur) while DH got a vanilla milkshake. When he realized we'd all gotten 'adult' milkshakes he commented that now his was 'boring'.
The Oreo was excellent! You can barely taste the liquor - it's just enough so it 'warms' you a little. It tasted just like a Cookies and Cream milkshake. Yum! DH said his milkshake was good - your basic vanilla. I think he was just let down that he didn't order the good stuff like the rest of us!
DH decided to get the Spinach Dip appetizer.
Spinach and Artichoke Dip - A blend of Mozzarella, Swiss, and Asiago cheeses with Spinach, Artichokes, and Corn Tortilla Chips $6.99 (from all ears)
We've had this before and I really don't like it, although DH and everyone else does. It's served warm, and it's much cheesier than the kind you find at a Fridays or one of those restaurants. I do have to say that this time it was better and less sharp than it's been in the past. It's also served with tortilla chips which are very salty, so that turns me off to it a bit. I prefer the cold spinach dip that you have at parties with the rye bread, so that may be why I'm not crazy about this dip.
Mrs. Morrow had the BLT Soup BLT Soup - a creamy tomato basil soup, topped with an herb crouton, freshly shredded lettuce and bacon $5.49 (from all ears)
I wasn't in the mood for soup this time, but I've had it in the past and I love it!!! Sooo good. I'll let Mrs. Morrow stop by and give her reviews of everything she ate, but I know from experience this is a great appetizer!
Mr. Morrow and I both had a cheeseburger. I don't see it listed on the menu online, but it was your basic bacon cheeseburger - $11.99
It was very good. A nice, thick burger that was juicy. The bacon was slightly crispy so that it broke off easily in your mouth, unlike the rubbery CS kind you usually have to pull apart. My fries were BEYOND salty - it tasted like half of a shaker was dumped on them. I could only eat a few - even DH commented on them, and he usually dumps salt on everything without tasting first. His fries were fine, though, so I had a few of those.
DH ordered the ribs.
Smoked Baby Back Ribs - Basted with barbecue sauce served with cole slaw and a choice of cucumber-melon salad or french fries $18.99 (from All Ears)
DH LOVES ribs, and he said these were good, but that although they fell right off the bone, the meat itself was very chewy. Anyway, that didn't stop him from eating it all!
Mrs. Morrow got the turkey sandwich. That, of course, isn't listed on the menu, either, but I think it was like a turkey club. She'll come by and give you her review!
By this point DH and I were stuffed so we opted not to have dessert, but the Morrows were on the DDP, so they got some!
Mrs. Morrow got the cheesecake (Cheesecake with caramel sauce and treats $5.49) - we were intrigued because the menu said it came with 'treats'. What are treats for people?
M&M's and caramel corn! I didn't taste any of this, but it looked SO good, and at that point I was wishing I had saved room for dessert. I'll defer to Mrs. Morrow again for the review.
Mr. Morrow had a Chocolate Tart with a mix of chocolate mousse, fudge and ganache $5.99(from All Ears).
I do have to comment on the service of this restaurant - it is extremely slow. It takes well over an hour to have lunch at this place, so don't plan on eating here if you have places to be that day. We've had dinner here twice before and each time it took over 2 hours - everything (waitresses, kitchen) seem to move at a snail's pace. It's alright if you know that going into it, but if you're looking to get in and get out, this is not the restaurant for you!
Although we had eaten here for dinner, this was the first time we'd had lunch at Sci Fi and I liked it MUCH better. The menu is basically the same as dinner except for one important thing - the lunch menu has burgers and the turkey sandwich. I have never been much of a fan of the food at dinner there, and the only reason I chose to go back this time was because it was for lunch. So then next time we come back it will definitely be for lunch and not dinner!
The total for 2 adults (after the DDE discount plus tax and tip) was $53.43.
Well, that's it for the review! If you have any questions, I'll be happy to answer them. If not, stayed tuned for Mrs. Morrow's input of Sci Fi and I'll be back with a new review in October. DH and I will be there from the 16th - 25th with his sister and our niece, and the Morrows will make a few appearances as well. Thanks for reading, and hope you enjoyed!
