Thank you! I think it's now going to be one of our must dos, too.

This was the last day of our long holiday weekend :sad1: , so we checked out early at CBR and took at cab to the Poly for breakfast. We had a 7:30 am ADR so that we could finish and head to a park early for rope drop.

Kona was empty when we arrived, which was nice. I love this restaurant. Yes, it is out in the open and gets very loud, but that doesn't bother us at all. We've been here for both breakfast and dinner and every time we go the food is DELICIOUS.

I ordered the Macadamia Nut Pancakes.
Macadamia Pineapple Pancakes - with macadamia nut butter,, pineapple sauce and your choice of ham, bacon or sausage $9.99 (From All Ears)
HPIM2277.jpg

I've had the Tonga Toast before and loved it, so this time I had to try something different. I have been drooling over pictures and descriptions of these pancakes for months, so I had to have a taste for myself. They did not disappoint! These were wonderful. I got them with the pineapple and butter on the side. It would have been a bit much with the syrup on them as well. There were macadamia nuts in every bite, and the butter just made the pancakes. It was all melty and I poured it over them - YUM!!!!!!!!!!!

I also got a glass of the Lilikoi juice. It was good, but very sweet. I hardly finished the one glass, and definitely wouldn't be able to have more than one.

DH got the Big Kahuna Platter.
Big Kahuna - French toast, Macadamia-Pineapple pancakes, eggs, home fried potatoes, ham, bacon, and sausage $11.99 (From All Ears)
HPIM2278.jpg

DH said 'it was great, a good mix of everything, and everything was pretty good.' All I tried were the eggs. I love these eggs. We ate breakfast here for the first time last September and he had gotten the steak and eggs. We both decided they were the BEST EGGS we had EVER had, so when he ordered this platter I made him order the eggs the same way. He gets them scrambled with cheese. But these are beyond phenomenal. They are so creamy and cheesy - served 'loose', not stiff and dry. My guess is that not only do they melt the delicious cheese over the top of your eggs, but they also scramble them with cheese and a little bit of milk before they cook them. Oh.My.God. Just fabulous.

I also have to note the bacon. We all know by now how I like my bacon cooked. Practically burnt. And this bacon was nice and crispy the way I like it. HOWEVER. It had no taste whatsoever. I have never experienced a flavorless bacon, and I was a little disappointed. The first bite had a bit of a smoke-y flavor, and then nothing. No salt. NOTHING. It was completely bland. I don't remember it being that way last September, so maybe it was an off day? :confused3 Either way, it was not up to par with everything else the restaurant turns out.

The total for 2 adults (after the DDE discount plus tax and tip) came to $29.17.

Up next - Sci-Fi Lunch!

Totally without a doubt hands down agree, Kona has the best eggs ever...and I always order the butter and pineapple sauce on the side.

Thanks for this, cannot wait to go next month.

I am so psyched to hear about Sci Fi

Thank you for taking the time to do this. I have enjoyed it soooo much! 1/2 of the fun of going to Disney is the eating for me.:cool1:

tasteless bacon its like that low fat low salt bacon sad!!!! but man I tried to eat my screen on the macadameia nut pancakes and cheesey eggs mm! Enjoying your reviews so far! I've been lurking thought I should post :)

Alright, this is the last review! :guilty: We had spent the morning at MGM (yeah, yeah, the Studios. Whatever.) with the Morrows and went on TSMM for the first and second times. Awesome! Bit of advice - if you want to get on that ride with shorter than a 1 hour wait get to the park before rope drop. Run IMMEDIATELY and get a fast pass, then hop on line. You will still have a 20 minute wait, but that's relatively short, plus you will have a fast pass for a normal time, not the end of the day.

We had ADR's for 1:20 at Sci Fi, but we were hungry about 12:00 so we went to see if they could seat us early. They couldn't and told us to come back in an hour, so we went at 1:00 and were seated right away.

Mr. & Mrs. Morrow and I started with the Orbiting Oreos (Orbiting Oreos - Oreo shake mixed with Godiva chocolate liqueur) while DH got a vanilla milkshake. When he realized we'd all gotten 'adult' milkshakes he commented that now his was 'boring'.
HPIM2283.jpg

The Oreo was excellent! You can barely taste the liquor - it's just enough so it 'warms' you a little. It tasted just like a Cookies and Cream milkshake. Yum! DH said his milkshake was good - your basic vanilla. I think he was just let down that he didn't order the good stuff like the rest of us!

DH decided to get the Spinach Dip appetizer.
Spinach and Artichoke Dip - A blend of Mozzarella, Swiss, and Asiago cheeses with Spinach, Artichokes, and Corn Tortilla Chips $6.99 (from all ears)
HPIM2285.jpg

We've had this before and I really don't like it, although DH and everyone else does. It's served warm, and it's much cheesier than the kind you find at a Fridays or one of those restaurants. I do have to say that this time it was better and less sharp than it's been in the past. It's also served with tortilla chips which are very salty, so that turns me off to it a bit. I prefer the cold spinach dip that you have at parties with the rye bread, so that may be why I'm not crazy about this dip.

Mrs. Morrow had the BLT Soup BLT Soup - a creamy tomato basil soup, topped with an herb crouton, freshly shredded lettuce and bacon $5.49 (from all ears)
HPIM2284.jpg

I wasn't in the mood for soup this time, but I've had it in the past and I love it!!! Sooo good. I'll let Mrs. Morrow stop by and give her reviews of everything she ate, but I know from experience this is a great appetizer!

Mr. Morrow and I both had a cheeseburger. I don't see it listed on the menu online, but it was your basic bacon cheeseburger - $11.99
HPIM2286.jpg

It was very good. A nice, thick burger that was juicy. The bacon was slightly crispy so that it broke off easily in your mouth, unlike the rubbery CS kind you usually have to pull apart. My fries were BEYOND salty - it tasted like half of a shaker was dumped on them. I could only eat a few - even DH commented on them, and he usually dumps salt on everything without tasting first. His fries were fine, though, so I had a few of those.

DH ordered the ribs.
Smoked Baby Back Ribs - Basted with barbecue sauce served with cole slaw and a choice of cucumber-melon salad or french fries $18.99 (from All Ears)
HPIM2288.jpg

HPIM2289.jpg

DH LOVES ribs, and he said these were good, but that although they fell right off the bone, the meat itself was very chewy. Anyway, that didn't stop him from eating it all!

Mrs. Morrow got the turkey sandwich. That, of course, isn't listed on the menu, either, but I think it was like a turkey club. She'll come by and give you her review!
HPIM2287.jpg

By this point DH and I were stuffed so we opted not to have dessert, but the Morrows were on the DDP, so they got some!

Mrs. Morrow got the cheesecake (Cheesecake with caramel sauce and treats $5.49) - we were intrigued because the menu said it came with 'treats'. What are treats for people?
HPIM2290.jpg

M&M's and caramel corn! I didn't taste any of this, but it looked SO good, and at that point I was wishing I had saved room for dessert. I'll defer to Mrs. Morrow again for the review.

Mr. Morrow had a Chocolate Tart with a mix of chocolate mousse, fudge and ganache $5.99(from All Ears).
HPIM2291.jpg

I do have to comment on the service of this restaurant - it is extremely slow. It takes well over an hour to have lunch at this place, so don't plan on eating here if you have places to be that day. We've had dinner here twice before and each time it took over 2 hours - everything (waitresses, kitchen) seem to move at a snail's pace. It's alright if you know that going into it, but if you're looking to get in and get out, this is not the restaurant for you!

Although we had eaten here for dinner, this was the first time we'd had lunch at Sci Fi and I liked it MUCH better. The menu is basically the same as dinner except for one important thing - the lunch menu has burgers and the turkey sandwich. I have never been much of a fan of the food at dinner there, and the only reason I chose to go back this time was because it was for lunch. So then next time we come back it will definitely be for lunch and not dinner!

The total for 2 adults (after the DDE discount plus tax and tip) was $53.43.

Well, that's it for the review! If you have any questions, I'll be happy to answer them. If not, stayed tuned for Mrs. Morrow's input of Sci Fi and I'll be back with a new review in October. DH and I will be there from the 16th - 25th with his sister and our niece, and the Morrows will make a few appearances as well. Thanks for reading, and hope you enjoyed!

Great reviews and pictures. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I made a mental note to try some of those milkshakes!

I looked at the recipe board in hopes we might have that delicious looking mozzarella and tomato salad that your DH enjoyed at Narcoosee's - but we don't. They might share the recipe if he requests it from Guest Services: guest.mail@wdw.disneyonline.com . If he does happen to get it I hope he can share with all of us on the recipe board.

Great pictures and review! Can't wait to experience it again myself in September!

Have good news regarding the tomato salad recipe. Narcoosee's was able to share the recipe and I'm posting it on the recipe exchange.
I hope it's okay to use your picture so we can see what the finished salad should look like.

Really enjoyed your reviews, thanks so much for taking the time to share them with us!:goodvibes

Thanks everyone - I'm glad you all enjoyed the reviews! I certainly had a great time 'reliving' the trip. Tatania - go ahead and use the photo. I'm heading over there now to print it out. :goodvibes

You know, I've always wondered about Sci-Fi and have read good and bad. But I think this is the first time I've really read some detail and have been able to pick out exactly why we probably wouldn't love it. I think it would drive me nuts to have to wait so long. And while the food looked ok, there didn't seem to be anything amazing about it - although that chocolate tart look quite yummy (I'm craving chocolate this week.)

Absolutely fantastic reviews! Can't wait to read more! Haha, I like DH's brief but to the point comments.

Boo!! I can't believe your reivew is over!! :sad1: Great job!! Now we have to get to October so you can do more!!

Oh, for my opinions on Sci-Fi, I'll keep it short!! The BLT soup, delicous!! One of my favorite apps anywhere!! My turkey sandwich was great too!! It was supposed to be served on multi-grain, but i went with white bread and 86'd the lettuce. It had an avocado mayonaise on it that was actually very tasty!! And that cheesecake. . .was soooooooooo good!! I was so full but I ate every single bite, yum!!! The first time we went to Sci-Fi it was for dinner and we hated it, we much prefer lunch. Unfortunately like you said, the service is slow no matter what time you go!! I have a feeling we'll be back!! Perhaps sometime in 2010. . .

Oh! I forgot to mention the Orbiting Oreos!! I'm not a fan of alcoholic beverages that taste alcoholic so this one is right up my alley!! I love cookies and cream shakes to begin with so I definitely love the Orbiting Oreos!! I can't go to Sci-Fi and not have one!
