Yep, I make my own whipped cream. It's pretty easy.
I buy the carton of whipping cream in the dairy section at the grocery store. I chill the bowl to my Kitchenaid stand mixer. Then pour the cream in the bowl, attach the whip and start it up. I then gradually add some powdered sugar and a little vanilla extract (or sometimes almond if I want a little different flavor). Then I just let it whip. So yummy!!
That's exactly the way that we do it - the chilled/frozen bowl is most important ! (OT, but don't you just love your Kitchenaid ?)
If you're making a fruit tart, pie, etc. try mixing in some lemon or lime zest and juice. . . . . very refreshing ! A helpful hint - if it's very humid where you live and your cream falls or won't whip properly, a dash of cream of tartar will fix that straight up, too !
We went to Biergarten last year and DH was also shocked by the size of his beer (pleasantly shocked that is). We really enjoyed the show too and DD had a blast dancing.
I would not have been able to handle that!! So I went with a glass of one of their rieslings. The name I can't remember, but I asked for the sweetest one that had and it was great, light, refreshing, nice and fruity. Now, let me say this, I am not a big desert person, I only eat desert if it is included which of course in this case it was!! The bavarian cheesecake was one of the best deserts I have ever had in my life!! FABULOUS!!! The little pudding cups were good to, Mr. Morrow really liked those, I think he ate about four of them!! He enjoyed everything else as well including his giant beer!! All that delicious food AND the really great show. . .I think Biergarten may be one of my new favorites!! I'm so glad I gave it a shot!! Now when can we go back??!!?
