Is It Wrong That We Get Most Excited About the Food!?! W/ PICS COMPLETED!!!

Yep, I make my own whipped cream. It's pretty easy.

I buy the carton of whipping cream in the dairy section at the grocery store. I chill the bowl to my Kitchenaid stand mixer. Then pour the cream in the bowl, attach the whip and start it up. I then gradually add some powdered sugar and a little vanilla extract (or sometimes almond if I want a little different flavor). Then I just let it whip. So yummy!!

That's exactly the way that we do it - the chilled/frozen bowl is most important ! (OT, but don't you just love your Kitchenaid ?)

If you're making a fruit tart, pie, etc. try mixing in some lemon or lime zest and juice. . . . . very refreshing ! A helpful hint - if it's very humid where you live and your cream falls or won't whip properly, a dash of cream of tartar will fix that straight up, too !

Isn't Narcoossee's awesome? We were there back on Nov. 30th. We did get to see the Electrical Water Pageant. It was fantastic. We are seafood people, so we both had the Whole Maine Lobster which was awesome! Hubby actually still talks about Narcoossee's. We sat on the upper tier, not at the windows and we could still see to the castle with no problem and I don't remember that many people being out on the deck.

It's so funny because we had never eaten at Narcoossee's, but had stopped in for a drink about two years ago, and ever since then DH talked non-stop about it and had wanted to eat there so badly. We finally fit it in on this trip and now he STILL can't stop talking about it. I loved the food, obviously, but the atmosphere was great because it was elegant, but very casual, so you felt so relaxed being there.

Exactly. My hubby is not the "elegant" kind of guy, but he was more than happy to put on a nice shirt and pants to eat there and he was really quite relaxed. I know he really wants to go back and I fear it might become a regular dining option for us...fear only because money doesn't grow on trees.

This will be a really quick review. Saturday morning we were planning on making rope drop at Epcot, so DH just ran to the food court at CBR to grab a quick breakfast. He got one bacon and egg croissant and one sausage, egg, cheese croissant and we split them in half so we could each have a taste of both.

HPIM2219.jpg

Sorry the picture is terrible! We were in such a rush to eat and finish getting ready in time to make it to the park that I forgot to take the picture until there was only half of the sausage croissant left!

Both sandwiches were good, and what you expect from a food court breakfast. They were a little on the greasy side, and the egg on the bacon sandwich was a little cold. I personally preferred the sausage sandwich, even though it came with only one tiny patty for the large sandwich.

The total for the two sandwiches plus tax was $12.76.

Next up is Biergarten lunch, which I'll get to soon!

That's our problem, too! We love all the 'Signature' restaurants and if we ate at all of our favorites every trip, we'd go broke! And don't even get me started on V&A's - we ate there on our honeymoon and DH constantly talks about how he wants to go back. Yeah... not for a few more years!

We spent the morning at Epcot which, again, was amazingly uncrowded. We did all the big rides and by 11:00 were done with Future World, so we headed into World Showcase to browse.

We had Biergarten scheduled for lunch with the Morrows, and they met up with us around 11:45. Our ADR was for 12:30, and we were seated almost right away. It was nice to get out of the air conditioning!

We were lead to a table on the first level right next to the dance floor. The first order of business was ordering a beer - we were, after all, in a German beer garden! I couldn't decide between a glass and a liter, and since DH and Mr. Morrow were both getting liters I figured I'd be a trooper and join in.

HPIM2221.jpg

Mine is in front, the Oktoberfest, and DH's and Mr. Morrow's are in the back, the Spatin Optimator. The look on my face was priceless when these things came out and I saw how much beer I had to finish before the end of lunch! They were as big as my head! I thought the Oktoberfest was good, if a little on the bitter side, but I still like the Sam Adams Oktoberfest the best. DH said he liked the Spatin a lot - but I had a sip and wanted to spit it right out. I didn't, though, for fear DH would divorce me on the spot! :rotfl2:

And just in case you can't tell how HUGE the liters are - here is me taking a sip. Let me tell you, that thing was hard to wave around during the Cheers song!

My first plate:
HPIM2222.jpg

Starting at the top and going clock wise I have the pork schnitzel with gravy, which was good, if a little tough. Then is the Spaetzle (plain and then a spoonful of cheese spaetzle on top). Now, I tried spaetzle for the first time at last year's Food & Wine fest and didn't like it. It reminded me of soggy corn pops, but since we were at the buffet I wanted to try a bit again to give it a fair shot. Well, I still don't like it, and it still tastes like soggy corn pops with zero flavor. Oh well, can't say I didn't try, right? Moving on, we have Potato & Leek soup, which was very salty, but I still thought it was really good. It looked creamy, but was actually more on the brothy/runny side. Also, there were hardly any leeks in the soup, which was fine by me! Next is the macaroni and cheese, which was my favorite thing the last time I ate here. It was so creamy and cheesy. I have to report that although it was still good, it paled in comparison to last September. *sigh* It wasn't hot, only luke warm, and it had an odd sweet taste to it, which wasn't there last time. Not to mention it wasn't as creamy as it had been. Oh well. I had talked it up to the Morrow's and then it had to go and let me down. Figures! And lastly is the pretzel bread, which goes without saying was delicious. Nice and warm and soft and chewy. SO GOOD!

DH's fist plate:

Oh boy, it's going to be a project to figure out what he has on his plate! It looks like at the top is the ham and gravy from the carving station, then a roast chicken leg, a tomato salad, a macaroni salad (which I wouldn't touch because there should never be peas in a macaroni salad! I hate them!), the mac and cheese, sauerkraut, and the cheese spaetzle. He cleared the ENTIRE plate and then went back for more!

My second plate (and you can see Mrs. Morrow's in the background):
HPIM2226.jpg

I got more of the mac and cheese, plus the pork casserole. This had sauerkraut on top, which I don't care for, so once I picked it off it was fabulous! It's basically mashed potatoes with little bits of pork mixed in. Mrs. Morrow had some mac and cheese plus the pork from the carving station. I know she'll be by to offer her opinions of Biergarten.

I somehow didn't get a picture of DH's second plate. I'm guessing this has something to do with the fact that by this point I was WELL into my Oktoberfest, plus the band had started to play. They do such a good job, and it's always fun to sing and dance along. But, I do have desserts for you!

DH's dessert plate:
HPIM2232.jpg

Florentine cookie, the blackforest cake (I believe), Bavarian cheesecake, apple strudel, and that big white puddle is the vanilla sauce that goes with the strudel, but DH likes it on the cookie. All I know is DH hates cheesecake. He will not eat it. So I was surprised when he came back and had it on his plate. I even said, 'Wow, you're trying cheesecake. Good for you. Way to try something new!' and then went to get my own plate of dessert. I couldn't have been at the buffet more than three minutes and I came back to an empty plate - complete with missing cheesecake. He said it was delicious and he loved it! That must be some amazing cheesecake, folks! He didn't comment on anything else, but he ate it all, so we know it's good.

My dessert plate:
HPIM2233.jpg

Apple strudel with vanilla sauce and the vanilla pudding. The pudding is my favorite dessert at Biergarten, and it was as good as always. I'm not sure what they do to it that makes it so wonderful, but it's thicker and just so much better than pudding you get in the supermarket or make or even get at restaurants around here! The strudel was so good. It had a lot of cinnamon on it, and when you put the vanilla sauce over it, it gave it a tiny bit of a *sweet* taste. The flavors together were just fabulous.

DH says, 'altogether Biergarten was good and fun. I love it here.' I know this is one of his top ten restaurants, and it really is a fun time, so we'll definitely be back.

The total for 2 adults after the DDE discount, plus tax and tip was $69.39

Great pics....although, I'm still not convinced I'm going to like the biergarten....I hate kraut!

I'm hesitant about Biergarten myself. I've actually been to Germany and didn't really love the food so I've always been a bit shy about going to Biergarten. But maybe I should try it if we're on the dining plan next time we go.

Side note: Just noticed you're from Jersey. What part? Hubby is from Bloomfield/Nutley.

Great reviews! :thumbsup2 Narcoossee's & special MK fireworks - sounds like a fun 4th of July to me!

Thanks for the update.:) We went to Biergarten last year and DH was also shocked by the size of his beer (pleasantly shocked that is). We really enjoyed the show too and DD had a blast dancing.:goodvibes

Thanks! You know, I hate sauerkraut and sausages and all that, but I still really enjoy Biergarten. Of course I was forced into trying it the first time, LOL.

It's not so bad to try, especially if you're on the DDP. Or, better yet, the FREE dining plan! If you don't like it you can always fill yourself up on the desserts!

I live in Rockaway - Morris County. But DH and I actually got married in Bloomfield, so I know the area pretty well!

Really enjoying your reviews. Those little cups of vanilla pudding look so cute!
And they were delicious!

Oh no! Seeing those photos of Biergarten really makes me want to go there!!
LOL Looking back at them makes me want to go, too!

It really is a great time there. And I love watching the little kids dance. And let me tell you, with one of those beers, you'll be having the time of your life! :lmao:

Thanks for the pictures.

We tried to book le Cellier but no luck so we booked biergarten for my German brother in law.

I wasn't so sure in the beginning but now I am looking forward to it.

I'm here!! Ok, I must admit that I have always been skeptical of Biergarten. What I was really looking forward to believe it or not were the pretzel bread sticks and they did not dissapoint!! But I absolutley loved everything else!! I feared that there would be a limited number of choices since I wasn't too sure what kind of foods were "German". But the chicken was delicous, the pork schzitzel was great, the pork loin was even better and I thought the mac and cheese was delish too!! Plenty of choices that I was not expecting! Oh, I must also point out that there was no way I was ordering one of those huge beers!! :rotfl: I would not have been able to handle that!! So I went with a glass of one of their rieslings. The name I can't remember, but I asked for the sweetest one that had and it was great, light, refreshing, nice and fruity. Now, let me say this, I am not a big desert person, I only eat desert if it is included which of course in this case it was!! The bavarian cheesecake was one of the best deserts I have ever had in my life!! FABULOUS!!! The little pudding cups were good to, Mr. Morrow really liked those, I think he ate about four of them!! He enjoyed everything else as well including his giant beer!! All that delicious food AND the really great show. . .I think Biergarten may be one of my new favorites!! I'm so glad I gave it a shot!! Now when can we go back??!!? :thumbsup2

You will definitely enjoy yourself! Not only is the food good, but you get great entertainment, too.

Excellent:thumbsup2
Thank you!

Loving your report!! So glad i found it:goodvibes Can't wait for more!!
Thank you so much for reading, and I'm glad you're enjoying it. I love writing these dining reports - they help keep the 'blues' away a bit longer!
