Love your review so far!!! Silly question though............What are the dipping sauces for:confused3 ? I know they used to be for the chips which are now gone. Can't wait for the rest of your reviews!!!

We are foodies too!!!

We plan our trip around our meals I think you have just convinced me to trade Ohana for LTT. I wanted to go before the stop the Char. Meals.

Great start cannot wait for more!!!!

Yeah! A new review with pictures!

Sorry 'Ohana wasn't up to snuff. We had a fabulous meal there last August. I didn't book it for our next trip though. Too many other places to try.

Looking forward to reading the rest of your reviews! We're going to lots of the same places you're going to!

Bummer that Ohana wasn't so good... We're heading there in January, so I hope it's a bit nicer then!!

I'm enjoying your reviews, thanks for sharing.:thumbsup2
Glad you're enjoying them, because this is helping me get over the depression of being home! ;)

Enjoyed your review. Looking forward to more.

I bet it will be - so many people love the place, it just must not be to our taste.

I agree - there are so many restaurants on property that I still need to try!

Enjoying your reviews. Can't wait to hear more! :wave2:

I have to say you will NOT be disappointed in LTT. It is my favorite restaurant at the MK, and I'm so glad we're going in October before they stop the character meals. But as long as they don't touch the food, I'll be okay - it's really great!

Now you're supposed to use the sauces for the meats, but they still bring them out at the beginning of the meal. I guess you can dip pretty much anything in them, but I liked them better with the chips they used to serve.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome aboard!

Can't wait for more!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Glad you're enjoying the reviews!

great reviews!
Thank you!

More please!!!!!! :)
Coming right up - dining reviews are my favorite to read, too.

All about the food here too!:thumbsup2
I'm glad to see I'm not alone! :lmao:

Looking forward to more reviews! I'm especially curious about the Crystal Palace breakfast. I haven't been there in YEARS and will be there in 67 days!
It's coming up next!

Yay!! I love the report so far!! That pretzel was soooooooo yummy!! And I can see myself standing in the background!!!
LOL LOL LOL I didn't even notice that. I can't wait until we get to Biergarten.

we also have calendar grids on where we are going to eat, what days.....
for us, it is all about Disney food, table service AND counter service. Your pictures of O'Hana look great - haven't been there in YEARS but have a reservation in two weeks....keep 'em coming!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
That's how we are too, we LOVE to plan out what and where we are going to eat. It's definitely the best part of the trip for us.

Great start. We've only been to 'Ohana once for dinner. I think it was Sept. 2005 (if not it was Jan. 05) We too thought the meats were all dry and overcooked. :confused3 Our fav. part was the starters. :thumbsup2 Also we were seated at a table for 8 and with our group only being 3 and no one else being seated with us it wasn't very fun. And our table was way in the back by the entrance so be the time DD (then 6) got up to join the games, they were almost over. We won't be back for dinner.

We did 'Ohana for breakfast for the first time last Sept. and it was good-we're going back again this Sept. for our last meal on our last day-it's become our tradition to do a sit down breakfast on our last day. :goodvibes

That pretzel sounds good-I think I'll have to use a SC on one!
See, now I thought I was the only one who thought this. But I'm going to have to try it for breakfast one day.

Bring It On, Great review's so far!!:thumbsup2
Thank you!

An awesome start! I am sorry about the slow service at 'Ohana. My dbf and I are going to try 'Ohana this September... so we'll see how long we are there!

And no, you are not a freak for not wanting to get dirty while eating. Dbf and I are the same way. Well, he is more awry of getting dirty since he will not touch anything with his hands (except fries, potato chips, sandwiches, and pizza). Anything else--if you cannot eat it with knife/spoon/fork, then it is no dice!
:lmao: That's how I am - I do NOT like sauces all over my fingers and under my nails. he he he

Yay Im in!
Thanks for reading!

Great start, looking forward to more. And I'm another one who gets just as excited about the food as the parks. We have 28 ADRS booked for our next trip and I can't wait!
Yum... 28 ADRs. I would be drooling.

:yay: Welcome aboard!

So here we are on July 4th and we are crazy enough to attempt the MK. Originally we were planning just to be there at rope drop, grab something from the Main Street Bakery, and start our rides. But DH and I got to talking and he decided he wanted to try to get into a park before opening for breakfast - something he's never done before. So we decided on the Crystal Palace, since we knew there was no way we'd get into CRT at this point. The park was opening at 8:00 this day, and the earliest ADR was for 8:05 am. I figured we'd get to the park by 7:30 and see if they would let us in a bit early.

Well, surprise to us! NO ONE was getting in early. We got there at 7:25 am, walked to the special Breakfast turnstile and waited. And waited. All the while guests are lining up at the regular turnstiles. At 7:45 finally a CM begins letting us through the 'breakfast' turnstile and corrals us around past the stroller rental area, past the gift shop... and stops the breakfast group AGAIN. Now we are waiting just off the right tunnel into the MK. Finally at 7:55 they let the breakfast people into the park so we can make our way to our dining reservations. Now, I'm not sure if this is a new policy that they are not doing early breakfasts or letting anyone into the park until immediately before opening, or if it was just because of the holiday, but I was a little surprised.

And, I admit, it put a damper on my plans to get a shot of me and the castle and no one else on Main Street....

But it's all good because we arrived at Crystal Palace, were about 5th in line to check in, and were called to our table about 30 seconds after the rope drop show started.

Look what was waiting on our table.

And we weren't even celebrating a special occasion!

Our waiter, Stephen, came right away and took our drink orders (coffee and OJ for DH, apple juice for me) and we were off to the buffet!

My first plate:
HPIM2180.jpg

I'll start with the strawberries and cream. OH.MY.GOD. Ohmigod. These were amazing!!! Now, we've all had strawberries and cream, I'm sure. But this. This was out of this world. The strawberries were big and fresh and juicy, but the whipped cream was fresh and home made. VERY thick and only slightly sweet - none of this runny, melts in three seconds, stuff from a can. I made DH try a bite and even he said they were amazing. The strawberries and cream alone are enough to make me book this breakfast again. Now that I think about it... maybe I will for the October trip.

Moving on, the grapes on the plate were equally as fresh as the strawberries. Then we have a biscuit with sausage gravy, which was so good! It's some of the best I've ever had (right up there with Whispering Canyon) - the biscuit was fluffy and the gravy was nice and creamy. Delish! Then we have Pooh's Puffed French Toast. Now, I have heard about it on these boards so I knew I had to try some. It was good, but very sweet. Lots and lots of sugar on the outside, cinnamon swirled on the inside. I could only eat one piece!

Here is DH's first plate:
HPIM2181.jpg

HPIM2182.jpg

Yes, his first plate is actually TWO plates. He is much, much better at the 'all you can eat' deal than I am. First he has a croissant, which he said was 'good'. Then the puffed french toast and two slices of the breakfast pizza. Now, I must tell you about this breakfast pizza. Again - OH.MY.GOD. This was the second best part of the meal! It's regular pizza dough with eggs and cheese, but it was SO cheesy and SO creamy. I don't know what they do to it, but my God was it amazing. DH loved it just as much as I did, and in fact he is now dying to make it at home. He talks about it every morning wishing he had some to eat right that second. So if anyone knows where to find this recipe, please let me know! Or if you're heading down to the World soon, can you pretty please ask for the recipe? I didn't even think to!

Okay, moving on to his second 'first plate' we have the biscuit with sausage gravy, which he loved. A hard boiled egg and two types of cheese, which he couldn't remember what kind. He also didn't comment on either of these, but I'd imagine the egg was pretty much standard. He ate the egg and the cheese, so it must've been good. Next are scrambled eggs which he said were good, not on the runny side and not stiff, either. Then he has sausage and bacon which he liked ("not bad, normal" :confused3 ), but the bacon was way too floppy and rubbery for me - I like mine falling apart crispy! Then he has potatoes, which he mushed into the corned beef and hash. He said he liked it. (Seriously, he is not cut out to be a reviewer!)

Now for my second plate:
HPIM2183.jpg

Yeah, that's it. Even though my first plate was so scarce, this was all I had room for! This is the 'famous' breakfast lasagna. I'm sorry to report, I did not like it! No flames, please!!! It's served warm, and is a layer of bread pudding (I think) and warm blue berries (sorry, but blue berries should not be served warm!) with a layer of vanilla pudding over that, topped with a layer of carmelized bananas. I literally had one bite and that was it. I also had a banana which I gobbled down, and that too was as fresh as the other fruit.

DH's second plate:
HPIM2184.jpg

Two more slices of the breakfast pizza, which I stole! :thumbsup2 Another piece of the puffed french toast, a few glazed Munchkins (he only had one of those, but I think that's 'cause he was more interested in the other stuff on his plate), and a chocolate croissant which he devoured in five seconds flat and declared "GOOD!".

DH's summary of the Crystal Palace is, "That place was pretty good, actually." We weren't expecting much, it being a character buffet and all, but we were more than pleasantly surprised. I can definitely recommend CP breakfast to you all - you won't be disappointed. We don't even like character meals (We're not big fans of being interrupted while eating. We like to focus on the food! LOL), but we'll have to add this to the list of exactly one other that we will go to. That other is LTT dinner - that food is so good we don't mind the characters coming around!

And just in case you're wondering, here is a photo of the breakfast lasagna on the buffet table. I had always heard people here talking about it, but had never seen a photo of what it looked like, so now I will show it to all of you, in case you're wondering as well:

The total for 2 adults, after the DDE discount and adding tax and gratuity was $47.46. Yes, a bit pricey for breakfast, but don't forget that is including the 'holiday pricing' increase (really, a bit insane, isn't it?) and I can say it was definitely worth it!

:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

What amazing photos you took!!! Thank you so much for the reviews. Both reviews you have written about we are hoping to go to in March. Ohana's food looks delicious. I honestly don't mind waiting 2 hrs to eat as long as the food is warm and we aren't rushed . My concern would be that my kids would be getting a little uptight. I heard though that they have games for the kids!!!
2nd is CP. We had dinner there in March and I found it the most amazing dinner we have had so far beside CR. The characters were fantastic and the food was overwelming. Everything was fresh and clean and the noise level wasn't as bad as I would of thought. The breakfast photos look amazing and really yummy. Thanks again and can't wait for more reviews and photo's:yay:

thanks for doing these reviews, awesome stuff!! can i just ask why you choose not to do the dining plan? it seems to me that you might get a better value that way, even if you do have to pay OOP here and there?

Thank you for all the compliments! :goodvibes 'Ohana does have games for little kids. This past time we saw a parade around the restaurant, hula dancing and they even had dads dance with their daughters and then mothers with their sons. I've heard they also have coconut races and hula hooping, but I've never been there while they were doing that.

thanks for doing these reviews, awesome stuff!! can i just ask why you choose not to do the dining plan? it seems to me that you might get a better value that way, even if you do have to pay OOP here and there?
We always used to do the DDP - to us it was a great deal! But with the changes they made for this year, we found that we actually save MUCH more money paying OOP. We have the Disney Dining Experience which saves us 20%, and adds the 18% gratuity on that - and it's also good for 20% off alcoholic drinks as well, which the DDP doesn't include. Add to that the fact that on CS meals we wouldn't order the 'desserts' and only get those because the DDP comes with them - most of time they go unused and we would rather have appetizers than desserts at TS meals, and it just doesn't make sense in anyway for us to get the DDP. Of course if we went during free dining that would be a different story, but otherwise it's just not worth it for us.

what is next? LOVE all these pictures!:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

Thank you! Next is the Plaza Restaurant for lunch... which I'll get to either later tonight or tomorrow morning. And lucky you going in two days! My trip feels like it was ages ago, and it's only been a week! LOL Have a great time!

I agree with you about the bacon. I cook mine to the point that it will almost crumble on its own. My husband laughs at me. I actually cook it on the George Foreman grill which does a great job of crisping it.

But I must disagree with the warm blueberries. Those can be quite yummy. Although I too thought the breakfast lasagna was a bit too sweet. I like blueberries cold, but warmed with fresh homemade whip cream (which I also make myself and I suspect you would LOVE) it is quite YUMMY!

This trip report is making me hungry! Great pictures too! Makes me wish I had made a breakfast ADR. I don't think DBF can get up that early!:) Can't wait to hear more, more, more!
