Is it worth the time calling back to catch any cancellations?

My DH and I are going to WDW for our anniversary. We've decided to make reservations at V&A for our anniversary day, (thanks to all who responded to my earlier thread asking about V&A!) but also want to make reservations at the California Grill for another night. We want to dine at/around 8:30pm so we can catch Wishes, but nothing is available at that time. The only availability is 7:30pm or 9:10pm. Has anyone had any luck at calling back in hopes of grabbing a cancellation? We're staying at the Polynesian, concierge level. Is this something I can have them chase for us?

We have gotten lucky with cancellations, and concierge should be able to book that for you. Or at least make note of where and when you want to go, and if it is booked out they will be able to put you down when ti first comes available. We wanted to get into CRT in December and it was all booked out. When someone cancelled we got a phone call right away and was able to get our reservation! Good luck! Happy anniversary!!!

A lot of people may say no, but you never know. It is worth a try. Just pick up the phone and call whenever you have the feeling. Hopefully you will get lucky!:wizard:

I have wdw dining on speed dial on my cell. I have picked up several cancellations over the years. I would try to call at 2 regular times like first thing in the morning and maybe when I am in carpool line for school in the afternoon.

I have to go with others and say yes. After several times of being told there was nothing available I was able to pick up CRT for the first night of our family vacation. You never know until you try. Wishing you lots ofpixiedust:

If it is something you really want keep trying you never know...it may payoff just have aback up plan just in case. Good luck

Thanks for your responses. You've inspired me to keep trying! ;) I think I'll do both - contact the concierge to see if they can do anthing and keep calling on a regular basis. I have my fingers crossed!

We had dinner there in Dec for our Anniversary at 7:30 and was able to see wishes at 9. So depending on the time Wishes is, 7:30 might make it for you. Our waiter knew why we were there and slowed up our meal. We had drinks, appt, meal and dinner. It was so beautiful. Being there at that time also got us a window seat.

I would definitely grab the 7:30. You'll probably still be there when Wishes begins.

Absolutely! We cancelled 5 ADR's last week. We could not get decent priced flights for free dining so we had to give them up. I would call every day if you really want a certain place!

Definitely worth it! I called a few times and Le Cellier was booked up for every single day, lunch and dinner, the whole time I'm going to be in WDW and I REALLY wanted to try it after hearing so many great things, and I just kept calling and FINALLY got a reservation because somebody cancelled. It might take you a few calls but I would say to go for it!
