It's going to be our first trip to WDW for either of (DH and I) since we were kids, and the first time ever staying at a resort. :) Well, we did stop at Epcot a few summers ago, but just for the day, and not for the fireworks. So it'll be pretty much a completely new experience. We're traveling down with friends, who know more about Disney and suggested the Mickey Christmas Party.

And those Zebra things that people keep mentioning. They look... tasty. :teeth:

I have never been to the Christmas Party, but I am sure there are entire threads devoted to it, but others on here may be able to help.

You could also go to each resort and see all the beautiful decorations they put up. I know Beach Club, does an entire carousel made of chocolate.

It is Zebra Dome Friday, around here on the thread. They are wonderful little morsels, you have to ry them, take a picture of yourself enjoying them and post it here when you get back.... Kind of a tradition here. :cool1:

Hello again!
I'm sorry, I already asked this question once before and was told that standard rooms could be located anywhere in the resort. When I look at the resort map that is posted on allears, I'm still confused as to how that can be. It says that standard rooms would be a view of the parking lot. The map doesn't specifically show the parking lot, but I'm assuming it must be to the front of the entrance. If that's the case, wouldn't all the standard rooms be along the outside of the Ostrich Trail Guest rooms or the Giraffe Trail guest rooms? I know I'm getting a little nit-picky... but with the size of this resort, and with my Dad's mobility issues, I'm just trying to get an idea of where we might end up.

Also, does anyone know if the number at the bottom of the fact sheet (407-938-3000) is actually for the resort? I tried to call that number to ask the question, and the lady that answered kept cutting me off, and asked me if I knew the number for Disney reservations, or would I like her to transfer me. I told her it I do have that number, but my experience has been that the CM's on the reservation line don't usually seem to have a lot of specific knowledge about specific resorts. She cut me off again and said, "that's their job, would you like me to transfer you". I just said no thank you, and hung up. Honestly... if I was actually talking to the resort, that may have made my decision for me.

Thanks for any help you can offer!

How excellent, you guys are going to have a blast! I might be the only one on here that hasn't tried a zebra dome, can't eat sugar, but everyone else raves about them!

What a horrible CM! You can't cut guests off! That is the number Kim put on the first page of this thread, so it should be directly to the hotel. I'd try again and see how they answer the phone.

...first of all,

!!!!

...yes, you are correct that the std rooms are all facing the parking lot (which is the entrance of Jambo House)...if I were you, I'd request Giraffe Trail, since you have a walking issue with your dad. Remember that it is a request only, so thee are no guarantees. However, once there, if you are really not happy with a room after check-in, they WILL do their best to accomodate you....good luck!

...lemme see if I can find another number that she may use.....:car:

EDIT:

They will not release the direct line to the front desk. You must call that (407)938-3000, which gives you the reservation center and they can connect you directly....I dialed the Zawahadi Fitness Center and they transferred me....

Thank you so much for your help! We always stay at POFQ, which is so small that even if you have horrible luck with a room assignment, my Dad can still make his way to the bus and food court pretty easily. Right now, there are no discounts available at POFQ for the week we can go. AKL has standard rooms with free dining for less than we would pay rack rate plus food at POFQ, so I was thinking it might be a great time to try it out! However, if my dad is going to have a horrible time getting around... it wouldn't be worth it.

Thanks again for the help!

...like I said before, your best bet is Giraffe Trail - it's fairly close to the lobby, bus depot, pool, and eateries....

He has to have a full evaluation in two weeks and then the surgery will be scheduled. Hoping that this will happen before Christmas!

Keeping Bob and you in my thoughts ! glad to see he is improving !!! and I so hope that you'll always post good news !!

I just came in after visiting Dad at the hospital - they are taking very good care of him , but :confused3 HE WANTS TO GO HOME !!!
The doctors said he will have to go through a "little" surgery - but we still don't know when & how ...

My class is :rotfl2::rotfl2: unpredictable and unbelievable , but I have to say that the girls are really working hard , I love them ! They are so nice and spend lots of "patience" with the boys ... Boys ??? :scared1: Sometimes they are so rude and difficult to deal with , but (reading their notes from previous schools ) it looks like they are TRYING to behave ... SOME lessons have been really good - I could not believe that EVERYONE was doing what I had asked for ...
I guess we have to wait , some days I am down , sometimes I think we'll make it !
Thanks for asking , it is so challenging ( and tiring) for me !!

Thoughts coming your way , laura

Hi there !
it has been a long time since I last was online !
:grouphug: HOW ARE YOU ALL Jamborini & Kidanites ?

I feel so excited for those who have a trip planned soon !!

:dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:
:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: :cheer2::cheer2:

Here things have been CRAZY between my new :headache: "very challenging" class and family ( Dad is at their local hospital - with "tummy" problems ).
Could someone PLEASE send PD his way ?

I'm just now looking through some of the photos from our last stay at AKL ( my happy place !)
and thought I would post one of my favorites :

ry%3D400

to wish everyone : HAPPY WEEKEND !!!!!
Don't you feel like you're going to take a stroll on to Arusha Rock ?!!

:grouphug: laura

Prayers and Pixie Dust heading your way.

I love the photo.

Good morning, Jamborinis and Kidanites! :sunny:

Bob had a wonderful check-up with our PCP on Wednesday. He has gained weight and strength and his blood work all came back in good shape. He surprised us all by getting himself up and down from the exam table with ease!! :yay:

The follow-up with the eye doctor was not as good, unfortunately. The scar on his cornea (from an abrasion gotten sometime during his hospitalizations) is healed as much as it can and the vision in that eye is only 20/70. He has a cataract on that eye so we have opted for cataract surgery within the next two months in the hopes that it will increase his visual acuity a bit. The only other option would be for a corneal transplant and that is just not something that appeals to us at all right now. No pixie dust needed here as it is much more required other places! To quote another very good Disney friend: "It is all good!"

I am glad that you had so much positive news and hopefully everything else will fall into place as well.

Corinna

Laura - Best Wishes for your father.

Tiggrbaby - glad you dad is recovering

Elin - So glad to hear Bob is doing better

Fran is moving ahead slowly...

Brandi - Thanks for the domes!

Hooray for the great check-up!:woohoo:

When we stayed CL at the AKL, my dad had mobility issues. We had down on the ressie that we needed a room close to the elevators, and got a room that was the first one on the wing. We were able to convince my dad to use a wheelchair getting around the parks.

Good morning Jamborinis & Kidanites! :goodvibes

I am packing up and moving out of my studio at SSR this morning. Will be in the parks until late this afternoon, then DME to the airport for my flight home. :)

Crowds (both at the resorts and the parks) picked up yesterday -- could definitely tell it was the weekend!! :rotfl:

DHS is all decked out for the Holidays. Last night was the CM preview of Osborne Lights (no, they wouldn't let me attend!! :rotfl2:) The Lights go on November 10th. :thumbsup2

I didn't think I took many pictures, yet there are 365 images (so far!) on my camera!

Wishing all my friends a wonderful weekend. I should get home around midnight -- then clocks fall back an hour tonight, which might help me recover! ;)
