Some advice from my DVC peeps would be appreciated

Yes, I would wait it out and see what happens. One-bedrooms will be the easiest to book again in the summer/early fall and I know you are up to the task of hunting for rooms. It's unfortunate, but if April falls through it's for a good reason and you can celebrate on your next trip.

I think letting your contracts reset and booking with current UY allotment will be very beneficial for you going forward. This is when UY comes into play. It's unfortunate something unexpected like this could happen. If the reservation was on current UY points and you were traveling prior to the banking window you could safely push every single point forward.
Agreed, reset and recharge! MS will be happy not to hear from me 🤣

This may be "heresy"....but I had a similar situation and this worked for me....

Depending on where your wife's naturalization interview will be (and how much time you need to allocate for it), simply fly back for it, and then return to WDW when it's over....

For me, I had a mandatory work meeting come up after I'd already booked my time at Disney....it was a long-ish trip (12 days total), and the day I had to be in Washington DC was a day when I didn't have guests with me (it was two separate trips w/two different sets of guests, w/two days between them....when I booked, it didn't make sense to me to come back home for only 2 days before returning to WDW, so I just extended one of my two stays....then, the work meeting popped up)....

It's very easy to get to DC from Orlando (or from Orlando to DC) --the trip was easily doable in just one day (very early flight out, late-ish flight back), and while it's expensive, it's considerably less expensive than losing the points for your booking. And you did start your post by saying you had your heart set on this trip. So, if you're traveling from/to an easy-to-get-to place w/multiple daily flights between your city and Orlando, this might be a way to salvage the trip "no matter what"??? Worst case scenario is you might lose one or maybe 2 days at Disney?

Good luck, and welcome to our country to your wife....
