This type of promotion means one of three things. Direct sales are slowing down, are below their forecast, or Disney wants to raise money to build another resort!

Are these incentives in place of banked points or in addition to? Because they are basically the equivalent, or a bit less than, what you could do with 150 2010 pts thrown in for a 2011 purchase, no?

Since most current use years ARE in the 2010 use year, you would get current (2010) points. 2010 points really isn't an incentive, just creatively worded marketing. February, March & April would get 2011 points, as those are currently in 2011 use year.

But is this instead of the $amount off per amount of points you buy? Like when you buy $220 points its like $6 off or something like that.

If you consider an average direct price of $35 (hypothetical example) per point more than resale, a 150 pt contract costs $5,250 more. That is a lot to spend to get a "free" incentive.

Meh. These are no different that Developer's Points, free cruises, free RCI stays and many of the other incentives they've varied over the years. To DVC, it costs a lot less to give buyers 60-70 points worth of free accommodations at Aulani than it does to knock $8 per point off of a 160-pt purchase.

DVC isn't exactly digging deep into their pockets for these bonuses, but for some buyers the end value may be better than taking the cash alternative.

This is not really a Wow. As others have said, these are similar incentives that have been offered in past. It is also in lieu of the price off per point that is always offered. Now if they offered the price off per point and the trip you would have something new that would be worth getting excited about.

If they REALLY wanted to offer an incentive, they should get serious and offer a one night stay in the Cinderella Castle suite with a full price purchase and/or a one-time membership in Club 33.

I think they would get some takers on this, especially from hardcore Disney fans due to the rarity of these places.

I just called
Only Hawaii, BLT and AK cannot guess why SSR is not in it. :confused3

DVC did away with all promotional incentives on SSR. The price is a flat $99 per point regardless of how many purchased.

AKV and Aulani are $120 per point with this "free trip incentive." BLT is $140.

The $21-41 per point savings for SSR is the trade off for not getting the "free trip."

My guide stated BLT was 130 and the other 2 were 120.
I did not ask about SSR, or retired resorts.
