Is it too late for Character Meal?

We will be leaving in a week and will be there for a week. We weren't really planning on doing a Character meal unless it just happened. Now the Father in law has requested that we do one. It will be for my son so Cinderalla won't really do anything for him. Is it too late to book one and what would be my best options? We did one a few years ago at the contemperary resort, it had a buffet but I'm not even sure what that was called. Thanks in advance.

It's not too late. Call 407-WDW-DINE.

The breakfast at the CR is Chef Mickey's. It's a high energy event, so mom and dad better load up on the caffiene before arriving. Personally I am not fond of the food, but then others on the DISboards love it. If you want a very high energy meal, pick this one.

A little more low key is Cape May Buffet at the BC. This one has better food (JMO); features Goofy, Chip & Dale and Minnie in beach attire. Less frentic than Chef Mickey's. Minnie greets guests at the door; Goofy and C&D wander around.

1900 Park Fare at GF is another option -- I can't recall the characters there.

These are 3 CBs I've done and thoroughly enjoyed.

I think you would be able to get a character breakfast somewhere. AK has Donald's Breakfastsaurus. Crystal Palace at MK has a character breakfast, lunch, and dinner with Pooh and friends. Cape May at Y&BC has a breakfast. 1900 Park Fare at GF has a buffet. Epcot has a princess breakfast at Norway. The Contemporary has Chef Mickey. I have been to 1900 Park Fare and Norway. 1900 Park Fare's buffet is wonderful. My DH enjoys going there every time. Norway is not a buffet, but you can get refills of anything.

I'm sure it won't be a problem. Call now or wait until you are at the resort. Since you'll be going the week after Presidents week, they should have some openings. A different character experience is the Ice Cream social at the Garden Grill in Epcot. For (I believe) $7.95 adults, $5.95 children you get an icecream sundae and Mickey, Minnie, pluto, and I believe Chip and Dale. I'm not sure if they are all there or they switch off and on. A less expensive alternative and they still spend the same amount of time with you. :) Good luck!

The character meal at the contemporary is Chef Mickeys. I love that one! :)

We like the Beach Club character breakfast each one comes to your table for pictures or for fun. Food is also better here.
Good luck have a wonderful time

At first looks we are looking at the AK Donald's. For the main one main reason that Donald should be there. Any experiences there?

Donald's is my favorite character meal. The servers are better there than most other character meals. They actually interact with you instead of just bringing your drinks and clearing your plates. We usually get to see all of the characters at least twice and sometimes more. The food was good also.

Hey, we will be down there 3/1 through 3/7 and I just booked our PS for 2 Character meals with no problem. We will be doing Donald's Breakfastsarus 3/2 for my nephews 1st BDay. We have never done this character meal before but have read only good reviews. My personal favorite breakfast is at the Poly. - OHANA, the atmosphere is very tropical, the CMs are great, the food is fantastic, but the characters really spend a lot of time with you and come around usually 2 or 3 times. I like to do this one on our "drive home" day. You still feel like you have been into a park because you can take the ferry across the lake or monorail to the TTC. Then you can either take the monorail to the Poly. or the "water taxi". Its a great way to say so long for now to Disney without having to use a ticket day.

For a big "Family" meal we have done the Liberty Tree Inn at MK and enjoyed it . For menus a great site is Deb's Unoffical Disney website. Check under dining.

I think the address is

wdwig.com

Have fun!!!

It might be too late for some of the character meals, such as Chef Mickey's or the princesses, but you shouldn't have any problems getting into at least one.

When we went to MGM we were hungry and just went up to the PS stand near Sunset and Hollywood Blvd. We asked where we might be able to eat the earliest lunch possible, and we got PS at Hollywood and Vine for 11:30. I tell you, it is now our favorite character meal. The food was great, the characters were the most fun of any that we have seen in any of the character meals, and it is very upbeat. For a great time, I would definitely recommend that one!

Good choice!
My favs so far are breakfastosaurus and ice cream social at Garden Grill. Those two I'll be SURE to do again with my kids on our next trip, if I can. :)
I think your son would have a blast at either (or both!) of those. You should be able to get PS for them also, depending on when you are going ofcourse. I was able to get PS for both of them even the week before travelling. :)

We love Breakfastosaurus. The CM's are great and really get into the act (students at an archeological dig). The food is really good. The made to order omlettes are to die for. The characters are great too.

Thanks everyone! We have 8:10 am seating at the breakfastosaurus. Then we will play it by ear and take our chances for the Ice Cream at Epcot. We are staying offsite, what time do you think we would need to arrive at the park to get to the restaurant by 8? Any ideas?

The main parking should open between 5-15 minutes before 8:00. You should be able to get really close parking at that time. We did have to walk to the front from the lot (not far) because the trams were not running yet. They do not open the ticket gate until right at 8:00. From what they told me, the first time available for this meal is 8:10 because it takes at least that long to check in and have your guide bring you to the restaurant. Do not worry if there are resort guests already in line when you get there. If their PS time is after yours, you will still be taken back first. A few points of advice:

Purchase your park tickets before the morning of your meal. Ticket sales were not open yet the day we ate there.

Be prepared to walk fast to the restaurant. Each guide takes about 4-5 groups back at a time. The guide walks fast and will not slow down for slow groups. He/she will also let you in on valuable info that you might not hear if you are too far back.

If you want the picture, have it taken after your meal. A few exceptions you might consider are if you have a child that will likely get messy eating or if you will not be staying at AK after your meal.
