Is it still possible to visit resorts you are not staying at?

last time we visited Disney world, 5 years ago, we stayed on site and liked to resort hop a lot, just to walk round and see the place and maybe have lunch in their qs restaurant or a drink in the bar.
This time we are staying off site but I’ve got an urge to visit Pofq where we stayed last time (would hopefully get the boat from Disney springs if this is also permitted to non residents) and also to get the monorail from magic kingdom to the poly to take in the atmosphere and eat a dole whip!
Can you still do this type of thing or do you need proof that you are staying on site to do it? We know we can’t use the pools and wouldn’t dream of doing that, we just want to have a little visit in the hope we may stay there another time!

You can still visit resorts that you are not staying at as long as it is not your intention to use the pools. Your idea to use Disney transportation is a good one since parking can be iffy for non-resort guests who do not have a confirmed ADR.

Most of the hotels encourage you to visit. If you visit you may spend money there and you may like to resort so much that you will stay there on a future trip. We are staying at AKL in a few weeks because of the way they treated me. Let me into the pool area to take pictures, even gave me a tour of one of their rooms. AKL at least is 1st class all the way on the way they treat visitors.
