We are in the process of becoming DVC members, just a matter of time before closing on a membership at BWV. We have 2 little ones right now, my big one will be 4 in January and the little one is 16 and a half months old. We will be going to character meals as a family for many years to come, but once the boys grow up, WDW trips will most likely be just DH and me, and YES!!! We would definitely still do character meals! I liked the buffets at the character meals very much when we went in July. Here are the ones we did, and I would definitely do them with or without kids:
-1900 Park Fare dinner (I love Cinderella!)
-Crystal Palace dinner
-Chef Mickey's breakfast (can't go to WDW without hugging Mickey!)
-Hollywood & Vine breakfast (MAYBE this one I would skip if we were not with our kids, but we also LOVED the food there)
-Liberty Tree Tavern, although starting in January no more characters there
Next time I want to do the 1900 Park Fare breakfast (DH loves Alice in Wonderland AND Mary Poppins, plus I hear the food is excellent at that breakfast), Chef Mickey's dinner, Cape May Cafe breakfast (it is at Beach Club resort, right across the lake from our soon-to-be home resort.
I think the character meals are part of the magic at WDW. The whole place of course has a fantasy feel, and is a terrific escape from reality, but dining with cartoon characters is just so much fun. I'm 31 and I don't think I will ever outgrow the characters!
