Is it silly for Adults to do Character Meals?

We are in the process of becoming DVC members, just a matter of time before closing on a membership at BWV. We have 2 little ones right now, my big one will be 4 in January and the little one is 16 and a half months old. We will be going to character meals as a family for many years to come, but once the boys grow up, WDW trips will most likely be just DH and me, and YES!!! We would definitely still do character meals! I liked the buffets at the character meals very much when we went in July. Here are the ones we did, and I would definitely do them with or without kids:

-1900 Park Fare dinner (I love Cinderella!)
-Crystal Palace dinner
-Chef Mickey's breakfast (can't go to WDW without hugging Mickey!)
-Hollywood & Vine breakfast (MAYBE this one I would skip if we were not with our kids, but we also LOVED the food there)
-Liberty Tree Tavern, although starting in January no more characters there

Next time I want to do the 1900 Park Fare breakfast (DH loves Alice in Wonderland AND Mary Poppins, plus I hear the food is excellent at that breakfast), Chef Mickey's dinner, Cape May Cafe breakfast (it is at Beach Club resort, right across the lake from our soon-to-be home resort.

I think the character meals are part of the magic at WDW. The whole place of course has a fantasy feel, and is a terrific escape from reality, but dining with cartoon characters is just so much fun. I'm 31 and I don't think I will ever outgrow the characters!

Silly? No. If the food were good enough I'd probably still do some of them - I've done them in the past. But I don't think the food is good enough to put up with the chaos, and I'm not terribly interested in the characters as a main draw.

NOOOO not silly at all! You're at DISNEY WORLD, after all!

My BFF and I went to Disney in 2000 and we had 3 character meals! (Chef Mickey, Crystal Palace and LTT) We loved them all!!! It's Disney so go ahead and enjoy the characters all you want!

I think it's great that adults do Character Meals. We did two of them on our honeymoon and they were a wonderful part of our week. I'd do a character meal in a heartbeat even if I didn't have my boys with me. I can't imagine not doing character meals on our WDW trips. :wizard:

Not at all! DH and I do character meals. It's usually good food, and lots of fun! And you don't have to stand in line to see characters!

My wife (then fiance) and I ate at 1900 PF the morning of our first visit to meet with the Disney wedding folks over at the WP. We had so much fun just being goofy with the characters and eating a big breakfast knowing we had so much to think about that day. It kicked off the next 14 months of planning (and paying) for our wedding. We're heading back for our 1 year anniversary in 6 weeks and may go over for breakfast again.

Me and my husband just booked our next Disney trip for May. We've been there before but decided to take my parents along with us. I'm 27 and my husband is 26, my mom and dad are in their late 40's.

I wanted to do some character meals, but wasn't sure if it was just for family with kids. Do the characters interact with adults as well or do they just pass by the tables? I'm not sure if adults do these things lol.

Here are the meals I'd like to try:

1900 Park Fare (I love Alice and the Mad Hatter)
Garden Grill with Chip and Dale (I love them as well).

Just wondering if anyone has done a character meal without kids? Thanks!!

I hope it's not silly..my husband and I are doing Chef Mickeys and eating in the castle on our Dec trip:woohoo:

I have been on 2 solo trips so far(not married, usually go with friends) and I always do character meals. This trip will be LTT(if I can change time), Crystal Palace, and Chef Mickey's.

I don't think it's silly at all! The food at the character meals is amazing!

I just got back yesterday. I am 24 and my DBF is 27. We did three character meals. I had four planned, but we couldn't do one of the breakfasts. I'm really glad we did them. The lines at in Toon Town and Epcot were 45 minutes long! I like the idea that I get to eat and the characters came to me.

I never got to do to any Disney park until I was 16. I didn't get to have the childhood memories that other people have, so I figure I'm making up for lost time. Plus, I worked hard for this vacation! I want a little character time too!

Not silly at all! It will be just DH & I next December and we're doing 3 character meals! I so want to have dinner in the castle one night, I'm dying to go to 1900 PF with the step-sisters another night and our last night there....Chef Mickey's to be with our classic faves :goodvibes
