Disney Stores Coming Back??

I doubt it… and if they do… it won’t be close to the number of stores they had last time..

They’re more likely to bring back:
Mickey’s Kitchen
Or
Club Disney
Or
The ESPN Zone

And have a merchandise section like Rainforest Cafe does…

I am not holding my breath for any of these concepts to be revived…

If it's the same concept as when it closed then I'll pass.
I would love the merchandise… but perhaps Disney should also add a small little cafe in some of the stores… those cafes would then serve a selection of Mickey shaped snacks from the parks (like Mickey pretzels, waffles, ice cream, etc). I think Primark/Penneys is doing something similar in its UK stores.

If they do this, they should allow guests to buy tickets and APs, sell disney prepackaged snacks, a soft serve with dole whips, and occasionally have park only merch. Maybe a quest character once a month for a meet and greet.

I mean, I would like to see it, but I don't think it's going to happen. Retail just isn't a winning proposition right now. I think we will continue to juse see more Disney presence in existing stores, like a Target near me was recently remodeled in includes a Disney area near the toys that showcases Disney merch and has a little interactive area with TV and such (I am not sure exactly what it did, but kids were hanging around).

Can agree too! It would be amazing to maybe meet up with Moana in that once a month period… the meet and greets could further be adapted to regional exclusives (I.e. if there should be a location in the Ala Moana center)…

Disney Stores actually making a return to malls would be a really smart idea because if they truly were to come back they would probably be adopting a new format similar to Rainforest Cafe with the store in it and a Disney themed restaurant in it "like Woolworth's stores used to have" and the restaurant would feature Disney inspired food and a stage with a show "like Chuck E. Cheese's" with the characters singing and performing and on occasions like holidays and movie premieres there would be characters for meet and greets. But I doubt this new Disney Store format would happen. When looking through the telescope Disney Store already has a contract with Target and JCPenney selling Disney merchandise and if they were to make Disney Stores return they would have to team up with Kohl's like Macy's did with Toys "R" Us. Because Kohl's is popular and they have teamed up with stores like Sephora and Babies "R" Us a Disney Store section would fit Kohl's like a glove and get a lot of shoppers to the stores

Oooh, that would be fun!

Disney hasba store in NYC. I could see Disney adding a few more stores. Possibly Vegas.

Malls are closing. I don't see Disney returning to a big retail operation

One perk to get people in the stores would be to allow someone to buy something from the online Disney store and have the merchandise shipped to the physical store free of shipping charges. The store is already getting merchandise for stock. Put the purchases on the same truck. Yes, delivery would take longer but the thought of free shipping would be enticing. Also, when someone went to the store to pick up their online purchase, they may see something else in the store that they would also buy.

The thing that stopped us from going to the Disney store was that the merchandise turned into pretty much nothing but stuff for kids; clothes, toys, etc. When the Disney store first opened, they carried adult size clothes, collectible merchandise, etc.

Sorry but it's just a fake rumor (one that surfaces from time to time) but Disney Stores are not coming back. It's much cheaper for them to have the partnership with Target and focus on online shopping than it would be to open and run brick-and-mortar stores.

Disney store predates online shopping. Customers were buying theme park tickets. Booking vacations. Promoting upcoming movies.

The stores aren't coming back to our local mall.
