Is it pronounced Louisville or Louieville?

I didn't grow up pronouncing it either way - we (my mom & dad were from KY) pronounced it LOO-UVILLE

Yup. Grew up in the South, lived there for a year, and this is how I've always said it.

its lou-a-vul. Anyone that pronounces it louieville has never set foot south of the ohio river. :sunny:

native resident btw that has never ever heard lowell-vile

I should say though, thats for the one in ky....there are louisvilles in other states as well....colorado I think may be lewis-ville.

::yes::

Friends from there always pronounced it as above. :teeth:

Kinda like if you're not from there, the state is Missourie, but if you're a native its Missourah.

Before moving to KY (and still many times since) I always said it as Louieville. But I am from way south of the Ohio river....more like by the Miami river (FL) :)

I have lived in Louisville, Ky my entire life and it's Lou-a-vul or simply Ville (Da Ville or The Ville either is fine) Alot of the billboards around here say stuff like Welcome The Ville lately, guess that's easier fo non natives to figure out how to pronounce. ;)
