Thanks,
everyone, for the kind words about the mini-cakes but I cannot take any credit for them. They were a total surprise to me.
As a matter of fact, on the day of my event, I was a guest on a VIP Tour of the Magic Kingdom Theme Park. When we stopped for lunch at the LTT, I used the restaurant's house phone to contact my Event Manager. It was during our telephone conversation when she informed me that the "
surprise" dessert was all set to go for my party that evening. She asked me if I wanted to know what it was, and I told her that I didn't. I knew whatever she and the chef had planned would be perfect.
The funny thing is that when I went back to my seat inside the restaurant, I had no idea what the surprise dessert was going to cost me. I actually didn't find out until a few weeks later when my event's final bill arrived in my resort room (
I spent 5-1/2 weeks in WDW that summer). The charge was on a par with what I had been charged for the mini-cakes at my FTW vow renewal.
~Phew!~
I think I know the answer. Guests cannot take the remaining of their cakes right?
Sarah_n_brian2006, my Event Manager saw to it that
to-go boxes were at my event so that the mini-cakes could be taken home by any guests who wanted to do so. I've been fortunate that Disney has always done that for me. I've never had to ask. But if I were you, I would run it by your Event Manager just to be certain that the option exists for your event. It never hurts to ask.
Please keep us posted. If you go through with the mini-cakes, I can't wait to see what they'll look like. Disney always has some really fun (
and scrumptious) tricks up their sleeve.
