OUR favorite part of the meal though was that we were able to watch the animals grazing in the savannah ... a few steps from the windows of Sanaa !!! :dance3::dance3:

laura & DGH

Laura,

Great pics! I always order the shrimp and chicken. My DH and DD like the shrimp and beef short ribs. How was the Tandoori Chicken? Might try it on our next visit.

I prefer to have lunch at Sanaa so that we can view the animals while we eat. We had a 5pm reservation in December and it was already getting dark.

No flames intended, more shocked than angry. You do such a great job over here and your answers really help. We may be a bit spoiled. Thanks. :goodvibes ENJOY the DOMES!!

Not sure if this is a dumb question or not. Can guests staying at AKL use the pool at Kidani? (Everytime I think I know everything about Disney, I come up with another question :goodvibes).

A short update since there is not much to report. Bob is stable. That means he is no worse and no better. The staff at the hospital are working very hard to make certain he stays that way and I am very grateful for their work. They are amazing people.

Elin, I am so very sorry to hear about your DH's stroke! I wish him a speedy recovery and will keep him and you in my thoughts!!

I think so but....I'm not sure. When we stayed at AKL, Kidani's pool was not open yet and when we stayed at Kidani, we would swim at the Kidani pool. So...there you have it....I don't know either....:rotfl:

They need a Kimmar over there! :thumbsup2 They have no leader on that thread -- unlike here where we have the best! ;)

I absolutely agree!! :thumbsup2

...okay, so I'm not here to 'flame' any other FAQ threads, but it is really the responsibility of the OP to 'set the tone' for that thread. I, for one, have diligently always tried to answer questions in an expedient and as-accurate-as-possible manner, and I feel that subsequent posters have followed suit. When one posts a question, obviously, chances are that question may have already been asked, but, also as obviously, wouldn't it make sense that the question-poser could have READ THE ENTIRE THREAD? So, if someone is posting a question, it is, quite frankly, in good taste to simply answer that query - plain and simple. I truly think that is what sets this thread apart from the others - AKL and otherwise.....now, WHERE ARE THOSE ZD's that you promised?? :hyper:

Kim, thanks for the effort you put into this thread! It really was my very first "home" on the DIS and it has always been the perfect thread to feel at home at! Besides getting lots of useful information on AKL by the experts on here! :goodvibes

We am staying at AKL for the first time in May. We only walked into this hotel once last year and knew we wanted to stay here one day. It is such a unique hotel and we are so excited to spend time there.

Which floor and trail has the best pool view rooms? Anyone know the numbers of the best pool view rooms?

That's the same way many of decided that they had to stay at AKL! :goodvibes

If you really want to see the pool, it would be best to request a high floor. Lower floors might have the view blocked by plants. 4th floor would have the best views, but 3rd floor is the same level as the lobby, so you can avoid stairs/elevators if you are on that floor. I prefer a pool view room on Zebra trail because you pass the windows which look out to to the Arusha Svanna when walking to and from your room. You are also a bit closer to the Mara, the CS restaurant. Both trails have exits to the pool in the middle of the trail as well. Giraffe trail gives you a private exit to the path towards the bus stop, so that is an advantage as well. I think it really does not matter very much which trail you are on. But my request for a pool view room has always been: 4th floor, Zebra trail.

Hope this helps

Unless it has changed since last year the answer is: yes, they can. :goodvibes

My life has become a comedy, laugh so you don't cry type of thing:confused3
Never heard from the temp agency guy, not surprised:sad2:
Then yesterday, Scott's car died:sad1: Something he can't fix himself, no money to get it fixed. Car is so old and has so many issues it's not worth sinking much money into it, but he can't afford to get another car.
No, we are sharing a car:scared1: Not really a big deal, but I do need to get 2 new tires as it is. Have to hope and pray my car stays ''healthy''.

Prayers, positive thoughts and pixie dust your way. Things will get better!:grouphug:

Thanks for the reply. You all seem so very nice, so I thought maybe I could put out our trip information and get a little critique. I have to admit the first 3 days are at POFQ, so I hope that doesn't immediately get me thrown out of the club!:lmao:

We are staying 3 nights POFQ with deluxe dining, and 3 nights AKL CL. The deluxe dining ends the 4th. day, which is my bday.

You are going to love both the POFQ and AKL:cloud9:

Thank you everyone. I got to "talk" to him a bit today, so that was encouraging. He is still in critical but stable condition, so keep those good thoughts and prayers headed his way. :goodvibes

That is how we ended up staying at AKL. We went to Boma's and DH said we have to stay here next time. We went in April,2010 and even ending up buying DVC so we can stay there over and over:goodvibes

Yes you can though we never tried the pool at Kidani.

Sooooooo the question is, do you do CL regular room or go Pool View with the DDP? At the moment we are doing the math and the cost to downgrade gives us our DDP for our family. We would have to give up the Sunrise Safari but I think we could live with that.

What do you think? What would you do? We are there for 9 nights so food will add up. :surfweb:

I would choose pool view, DDP. We stayed pool view and it was wonderful. There are plenty of other viewing areas for the animals. :thumbsup2

We stayed in Rm. 3432, third floor (lobby level), Zebra trail, second section down from the lobby. We had a perfect view of the pool:

Have a great trip!

Okay, I need about 5 of the "Frozen Balls" for my signature. I have just experienced the coldest night ever. Can they cancel school due to "COLD?" :goodvibes

I just talked to my sister and she and her DH and DS and DD will be going to Disney for the first time this August with us!! I think they will love AKL! How's that for a first time resort? :cloud9: She thinks that she will be a little nervous waking up to animals :sad2: but thinks that the theming is beautiful. We may all end up at Kidani. :dance3: I need info on the 3 bed room. There would be 8 of us. What are the configurations for a 3 bedroom? How many beds including sleeper chairs and sofas? I'm getting excited :cheer2:.

Same here with the "Frozen Balls". The actual temperature is -7 but with the windchill more like -30. My 19 day countdown is looking better every day. Poor DS is regretting not caring if we went without him, not that I would change my mind now and bring him. DH will take him to the bus or more likely school's will be closed because of the little one's standing at the bus stop.

So I am officially done planning, and tomorrow I am paying everything off. Not sure if I had too as AKL is room only, but hate doing on vacation when I have a balance.

We decided on the "Keys to the Kingdom tour", well I did, it is a surprise, then the Wishes Dessert that night. I couldn't get the Safari tour to work in the planned schedule that DH knew about, but think if we are not totally wiped out we may do it the Saturday we leave. I am buying the extra day of ticket just in case. We leave Saturday, but not until 7:30pm and I really only wanted to to a DTD run that day. It's only like 8 dollars to add the last day, so said and done.

As excited as I am I must admit how using the services to book my ADR's and tours did NOT work for me. I called to have them book the Keys tour at 9:30 and they said it was not available. I called two seconds later and booked it, and they said their was more room if we had guests??:confused3

And in my not so long post, yeah right, I am debating changing the Jiko to Sanaa, but have a few things holding me back. It will be later at night, so dark, and I would assume, no animals. And even though the pictures were posted, I still can't get my brain to figure out what the food is like. I have well 19 days to figure it out!!

Bundle up everyone, cuddle if you have a stuffed Disney favorite, and I will be reading, etc.

Good morning, Jamborinis. :)

First of all... Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers for Bob and our family. I know they help.

I am going to try to teach a somewhat normal schedule today. I need the normalcy.

As of 7:30 last night Bob was still stable. We are hopeful that there will be a change for the better in the next couple of days.

Hi Golden Girl!!!! Big Hugs!!! I"m glad to hear he's still in stable cond. - continuing prayers and good wishes! Keep us posted!

*** Just wanted to add - a few post back there was some talk of other FAQ threads/questions/answers -- I just want to say that Kim is exceptional - the "tone" she sets for this thread is about being helpful to ALL who ask questions, having fun and really bonding over something we all love - and that is AKL-Kidani. Some complain that this thread is too "talkative" about other things - first of all - most of us here have been here for years, we care about each other, some of us have met, but the point is - we have fun and enjoy the friends we have here. We also ALWAYS answer questions asked, (yes sometimes repeatedly) - but, that's OK!!! And we ALWAYS welcome newcomers to join out little corner of the boards. I think that is what sets this particular thread apart - our fearless leader is awesome - we all think she does an amazing job and we all appreciate her! Big Hugs Kimmy Pie - we love ya girl! Thanks for keeping us all in line over here! :goodvibes

Okay.....Now I'm feeling....some kind of way...Must be a glutton for punishment. Went back once again to the "other" site. Had a few more questions, thought maybe it was a fluke. Skipped AGAIN!! :guilty::sad1: Literally skipped and went to the next 3 questions. So....quoted my post saying "hello, is this mike on" all in good humor. Got a response advising me to check the thread.... I've been on the boards for a while and we all ask questions instead of going through the entire thread. I've seen questions on that thread asked many times and some seem to get answers while others get the "read the thread" posts. :headache::headache: I unsubscribed :guilty::sad1::sad1: I know this is the AKL thread but does anyone here have any experience with the buses from BC/YC to DTD? Just curious. And, to make sure I'm not hijacking, Jambo to all, Zebra Domes are on me tonight. (Maybe this is a sign from God......."GO BACK TO AKL THIS YEAR"

Not to worry I asked my question 3 times and never got a response!
