Hi! AKL newby here :goodvibes. We have been to DW a number of times but have never stayed at the AKL so we are very excited!! I have booked a Pool view Bunk Bed room. Any advice? Any idea where this "type" of room may be or any room requests or view requests we should make.

Getting ready to dig through this thread a bit but just wanted to say "hello" and any advice from you AKL fans would be appreciated. :cheer2:

...there are some in Giraffe Trail and in Zebra Trail - do you have a pool view roomor a savannah view room?

[...BTW ~ JAMBO! ]

First of all: athenna - those memories of last year are important! Keep remembering them! In fact, Bob and I talked about the night 39 years ago that he proposed to me last night.... You read that right.... keep reading! Yesterday was an amazing day. Bob woke up and made such a ruckus trying to talk to me and write on my palm that the nurses put out a call to any doctor to come and write permission to remove the breathing tube. They did and he hasn't shut up. I stayed with him for 8 hours yesterday and he talked constantly. His speech and voice have been affected (but his mind is still sharp) and I can understand about 95% of what he is saying. He is still having to use the feeding tube though, because he can't pass their swallowing test yet. When that happens he has given me a list of food and drink "wants" that spans three notebook pages. I came home to check on the dog (who ate pottery last night.... there is no end....) and to eat lunch. I am going back with renewed hearing! Thanks for sharing in my delight.

:sad1:  wow.

Pool View. I wish it was Savannah view but I booked on a pin code and I had to have the bunks and didn't see Savannah bunks available. I think it will be good though. Plenty of common areas with views from what I understand. Right? Are the pool view rooms not so good? I assume a pool view is better than a parking lot by far so I'm happy.

...well, you will probably be in either Giraffe or Zebra - both are great locations! I think that the Zebra Trail will probably offer bome better views of the pool area, although the Giraffe Trail seems to be more 'centrally located' and closer to the bus stop...

ok...since Kim is chatty today...what is a good standard room..3rd floor is lobby level, right? I don't want to listen to the bus noise..so is there rooms close to lobby on the west side?

...those would be pool view rooms though...and yes, 3rd floor IS lobby level! If you are getting a std room, perhaps the Ostrich Trail would be quieter for you - however, there'd be more walking involved....

Wow! That is an awesome pool view room. I would love that one but I guess it is not advised to ask for a specific room is it? After going over some of the thread it sounds like all pool view rooms are pretty centrally located (near lobby I assume) so at least that is an advantage even if the view isn't stellar.

Thanks!! and Jambo

Okay, I need about 5 of the "Frozen Balls" for my signature. I have just experienced the coldest night ever. Can they cancel school due to "COLD?" :goodvibes

in RI, they have in the past and probably would have yesterday (-3) except we are already 3 snow days and probably another one for Thursday. Poor DH and DD7 will be going to school 4eva!!

Hi Folks, I hope you don't mind me popping in to ask a question about food at AKL. I need help picking a restaurant. We are spending one night at AKL before our Disney cruise in three weeks. It will be a Saturday night. I want to eat around 5:30 as we will be bringing my 16 month old son. I keep changing my reservation. First I went for Boma, then changed it because I read a lot of the food is sweetly spices. Then I booked Jiko because I read rave reviews. Now I'm thinking Sanaa because we love Indian food. How far of a walk is it from the main building?

If you could eat at only one of the AKL restaurants, which one would it be?

I'd pick Boma as the other two restaurants seem too exotic for me.:lmao:

Wow, I actually had to edit the above post as I went over my allowed allotment of smilies:laughing:

Not much to report here today, my big news, if you can call it that:confused3 is, 1 year ago today was the best day of my life:love: We were engaged at Epcot 1 year ago tonight:lovestruc
Of course it's in my siggie so you may have all figured it out anyway:rotfl:
Wish we could relive it, my 1st stay @ Poly:love: My 1st time @ Bistro de Paris, and getting proposed to @ Illuminations, my fav show ever:yay:
Happy Belated proposal anniversary. DH & I still joke about the time he proposed (over 16 yrs ago:scared1:). He proposed at my mom's cabin in Maine but had forgotten the ring at home:laughing:

:welcome: We had a studio with a pool view and loved it. It was so nice sitting on the balcony listening to the people in the pool. I wish I was there right now.:sad2:
