Is it possiable?

Ok, trying to get my head around the extras you loose by buying resell.

I have a question,

We normally book a 14 day stay but will not always go to the Disney parks all 14 days, so is is possiable to do the following,

Book a one week stay and buy the Disney dinning plan for that week.
Then book a second week stay to start right after the first one finishes and not buy the Disney dinning plan.

This way it would get round the having to buy the dinning plan for your whole stay as it would be spilt in theory into two one week stays so we could just buy the dinning plan for week one and not week two?

Could we then spread the one week dinning plan over the two weeks or do you have to use it within your booked stay?

Hope this makes sense, just we never really use the dinning plan in full on pr viols visits and being able to split the plan into half the time where there is a real bonus to us.

Thank you for looking.

Dining Plan credits must be totally used by 11:59 PM on the first resort checkout day. So no you can not spread it over 2 weeks.

Am I correct that mugs are good for 2 weeks after the first day, though?

Now that’s a great idea, thank you.
I think it might have to technically be separate reservation #s for each room but I am not sure about that and each room may be a separate reservation anyway. I cannot remember! But it does "work."

So with DVC, the pro with the dining plan is that you can add it to any length of stay (even one night). There is a minimum with regular hotel stays (it's 3 or 4 nts I can't remember which).

As mentioned above your mugs would be good for entire stay but that's it. You would need to use your DP credits by midnight of your 1st checkout day.

You can, as posted above, DVC or not, put DP on one room and not on another. But that means, your party would need to be big enough to warrant two rooms. This is a great idea for trips with extended family and friends.

As far as extras you lose buying resale. The DP wouldn't be a factor. However, you mentioned a 14 day stay. A major factor I would be thinking about is the ability to buy discounted APs. For us, this was the deciding factor. We have APs and right now it's about a $300 savings per person and we're a family of 4. We won't recoup immediately but with a $1200 savings per year, it won't take too long. Now we didn't buy all our points direct, just the 75min and then the rest resale.

In your case, the discounted APs are probably about the same price (if not less) than the ticket cost you're paying now. Plus you'd have the potential to use for multiple trips plus memory maker included.

Resale or not, there is no dvc discount on dining plans.

Blue card holders get a variety of discounts on dining and merchandise. Some of those same discounts are available for annual pass holders, and disney chase Visa card holders. Annual passes can be had at a discount by blue card holders.

Compare the savings from the dining plan to discounts you might buy e eligab li e for under other programs. If you are like my wife and I, paying out of pocket with the discounts is cheaper.

I thought if you wanted to add the Disney dinning plan it had to be for everyone staying in the room for the entire length of the stay not just for say 7 nights out of a 14 night stay?

As for AP, were from the UK so it only works out cheaper for us if we were to come more then once a year unfortunately.

Yes, but you can do a split stay, even at the same resort if you change your view type, or the names of the people in your room.

I think this is true.

As suggested above, it would only work if you had separate reservation numbers for the first and second week. I don't think you could have the DDP for only 1 week unless you changed rooms (week 1 in OKW HH area and week 2 in a non HH villa.)

I've never found the DDP to be a good deal for the way I vacation, though.

OK we would be looking for 14 nights at Saratoga staying in a 2 bedroom villa, so if we spilt this as others has mentioned into tow 7 night stays we can then just book a 7 night dinning plan.

Would we need to call guest services to make sure we do not have to check out and back in?

We have used it every time we have stayed at Disney before but it was included in our holiday costs as we were not DVC members then.

This is all new to us now.

If you book separate identical weeks, I think MS will just merge them. If you take a name or 2 off the reservation for the second week, those people would not have access to FPs and such. I'm not aware of a situation where you can stay in exactly the same villa but only book the DDP for 1 week. I think you'd need to expect to check out and check in to a completely different villa if the split DDP is that important to you.

Yes, the DP has to be for everyone on the reservation for that room for length of stay.

But you could split your party and book 2 rooms instead of a 2bdrm and then put the DP on one room and then split the credits.

Not a big fan of the DP though, esp with a unit with a kitchen and a long trip like that.

My point was, the DP has nothing to do with DVC, no perks, discounted price etc... and if you are trying to decide whether the perks are worth it, a big money saving perk is the ability to buy discounted APs. Which can be a savings even if going only once per year (and keep in mind APs last for 12mo, so you can go "once per year" just 2 weeks before the next year and get 2 trips out of one AP.)

Yes the AP are a good idea if we could get there twice inside 12 months but we will be staying every other year unfortunately due to the air fares ect from the UK, have looked at the AP and even just buying one to get the discounts as another poster mentioned.

Thank you for the advise though, much appreciated.

You will have to check out and move. That's the only way to get the plan for fewer nights. You have to change villa types or sizes or location. So at SSR, you book seven night standard and seven night preferred.

I think this is against the official policies. Credits have to be used by the people in the reservation. I don't think they check, though.
