Is it ok to celebrate early? Anniversary?

it can still be noted on your ADR's ~ and not be looking for freebies ~ majority of the CM's ask if you are celebrating something without any prompting from the caller.

Not to start something but why note it if you are not hoping for something? The OP just wanted to order a cake which she can do without the pain of calling and have it noted on each ADR. Edited to add that in all my years of going to WDW I've never been asked if it was a special occasion. Not that I would tell them if it were but just wondered who is getting asked this all the time from the CMs? The only thing we are asked at check in at the podiums is if there are any food allergies. LOL!

What I am saying is...while making ADR's I have had quite a few of the CM's making the ADR's asking if we are celebrating anything special --- so, if the caller said yes, we are celebrating xxx, the CM may or may not note it on the ADR without anything being prompted from the caller.

I understand what you are saying. I just have never in my all my years of going to WDW, a month a year for years and years, have I ever been asked if it were a special occasion by anyone while making my ADRs. Just wondering why I read that some get prompted when others don't. Either way if you go enough Disney will know your special occasions and actually surprise you without hinting about it ADRs or room reservations. We were surprised two years ago at the Poly with cards, cakes, and balloons as a belated Birthday from the Poly management. Our birthdays were months before and never noted as a trip celebration. They must have just saw that and sent it to the room. It was very nice of them and a great surprise. No hinting at all to get that so that was very nice.

Maybe you aren't hoping for a glass of champagne, but you are hoping that someone sees that it is your anniversary and that they put you in a more romantic table for two rather than putting you right by the family of 6 from Peoria.

We've been asked when making a reservation if it was for a special occasion, fwiw.

I've been asked about special occasions every time I've made an ADR, too. So they definitely do ask a fair amount. I suppose it's kind of like upselling. Sometimes staff remember to do it, sometimes they don't.
To the OP, I don't think there's any harm whatsoever in celebrating your anniversary (ies) a little off-the-date. :thumbsup2 We weren't able to take our honeymoon trip for months, but still treated it like we'd just gotten married days before. It's your special time, don't worry about justifying it! Just have fun, and hopefully a little pixie dust will be sprinkled in your direction. :wizard:
Have a great trip!
Sonia

Just so that everyone understands, I don't even want a romantic table. We will have our 2 dds with us. I have never planned a trip to WDW before, so I just don't know all of these things. I have not been in 16 years and then I was 12! My thoughts were to order a cake or have something sent to the room. I also thought it might be nice while at Coral Reef to have a diver come down with Happy Anniversary!(I have read about this on this board). I know that there will technically be no one that will be checking marriage license to see when we were actually married. I just don't know what to do. I have not noted it on any of my adrs and I have already made all of them. My dh doesn't know about any of this, and I guess more than anything, will he wonder what I am doing. (of course not, we will be married 10 years and he is used to my craziness!):rotfl: Does anyone have any more suggestions? I am not trying to start a debate, I am just looking for expert advice.

We celebrated our 10th anniversary at WDW from 2/1-2/6 this year. Our actual anniversary isn't until March 14, but DH planned the trip as a surprise, and when flying for free, you go when you can get a seat on the plane.

They asked when he made the ADRs and he told them the trip was to celebrate our anniversary; we didn't expect anything special, but he did order a cake at the Coral Reef for our dessert. Our server did ask what day our anniversary was, and we told him; he didn't say a word.

I say celebrate it whenever you'd like. We went for our 3rd anniversary last August even though we got married in late September. The wife is a teacher so we had to do it at the end of summer. Do whatever works for you.

i agree, celebrate when you want! as long as you don't go to disney 6 times a year and claim your anniversary! :rotfl2: my parents 30 year anniversary is may 27, but they are going to disney end of april. and DH and mines 1 year anniversary is jan 6, but we are celebraing at disney dec. 15-22! still a celebration to us!pixiedust:

Relax, go have fun and CELEBRATE that anniversary! We are going in May to celebrate our 40th anniversary, we were not married in May, we were married in August, but you won't see us at WDW in August, been there, done that,
far too hottt! So May is our celebration. We have plans for a dinner at a restaurant that we love in Epcot. We are taking our loved ones on this trip with us. this is how we want to celebrate.
OP order the cake and have the sign made for the Coral Reef, you will have a great time and make so many wonderful memories. pixiedust: Wishing you a Very Happy Anniversary.

Oh, thank you all so much!!:flower3: I am going to celebrate it! You are right, it's not like I will be going to Disney 5 more times this year to celebrate. I probably won't be back for a couple of years! I am going to order a cake and call Coral Reef about the sign. How far in advance do I do this?:confused3

Good for you! I don't know when you would call, but I applaud making a special meal mark a wonderful milestone.

FWIW, I notice that CMs ask if it is a special occasion when I book ADRs for signature restaurants. Other restaurants, not so much. V&A has ALWAYS asked (and we've eaten there a few times  :goodvibes I loooove that place.)

Soooo...if you're celebrating, share your joy. I smile anytime I see someone celebrating a birthday, wedding, engagement, anniversary. It sends good vibes around the room.

Happy Anniversary! :flower3: I believe you need to call the Coral Reef at least 48 hours in advance for the diver sign. I called last week and our trip is in 9 days! These are the instructions I followed:

1. Call the Disney Switchboard 407-824-2222
2. Ask for the Coral Reef
3. Choose the option for the leaders. I don't remember exactly what it was called but you'll know it when you hear it.
4. They will either answer or you'll need to leave a message. We got through the first time, but I've heard the call you back in a timely manner if you leave a message.

Just let them know you would like a sign, when you'll be there, and what you want on it.

I hope ya'll have a magical trip!

Look if you are married 10 years you deserve to celebrate at Disney if you choose even if it isn't your actual anniversary it will be and not all of us are lucky enough to get away more than once so my thoughts are celebrate it! No one will question it! You are not alone check out these boardfs alot of people do it! I am going fromApril 3rd - April 11th! I am celebrating my 10th Wedding anniversary on the 12th the day after we return home! I am celebrating in Disney on the 10th the last day the entire family will be there! 10 years married is definitely something to celebrate these days! So celebrate and have fun! I just got lucky and mine is a lil closer to my time being there even if it wasn't I would still celebrate! because I deserve it! If you get something for free then so be it! You deserve it! Like another poster said Disney makes enough money off of us a free desert or something is not going to hurt their budget! And you could also order a cake I have seen a few nice ones! Thats what I plan on doing but whether you do or not it's your right dont let any negativity here let you decide oterwise!:bride: ;)

I think that the diver at Coral Reef is free. The cake as I understand it, is not. You have to order and pay for it.:) Happy 10th to you too!:flower3:

I see nothing wrong with telling the CMs when making dining reservations that you are celebrating something. As others have noted, I am often, though not always, asked this question when making the ADR's. Most times it has made no difference at all. Sometimes it may have resulted in a better table. For our 25th anniversary celebration at Artist Point (on the actual date) we received a complimentary dessert after we ordered dessert. ;)

Most recently, when I ordered flowers from the Disney Florist for my wife for Valentines' Day at BWV, the flowers never arrived, but that's another story! (The flowers were apparently delivered to the wrong room by Housekeeping.) :(
