Is it me or is DHS too much "under Construction"?

Way too little to do for the family. Every family member was bummed out at the huge decrease of things to do. I can't believe that I did not see that on Disboards? I must not be looking at the right place!

I say BRAVO and can't wait to see the improvements. Got to admit that we have skipped HS the last couple of trips.

The big area closed is the Streets of America. Lights Motor Action and the Backlot Tour are closed for good. All the other major attractions are still open.

The construction is growing pains. Backlot Tour closed in 2014. Streets of America was the most recent closure, with the closing of LMA and Studio Catering.

A lot of attractions have closed in the past 2 years now, some with replacements, some without. We went in December and I think we'll skip it for a long time now

It maybe under construction but that has not kept the crowds away. I was there in March the one day that TSM was shutdown, so TOT and RnR were the main rides open...the crowds were crazy huge, so construction?...yes, but people will still go there.

Since almost none of the attractions that have closed were ever of any interest to us (LMA, HISTK playground, SOA), I don't see the construction affecting the time we spend at HS. The only thing I'll miss is the Animation Academy. But DGS will probably lose his little mind over Launch Bay, the Storm Troopers, and the fireworks.

maybe you could be more specific as to what attractions your family missed and when was the last time you were there.
If you haven't been to DHS in 5 years I understand your point
Pixar Pals Countdown to Fun Parade closed April 2013- No replacement
Backlot Tour closed September 2014-Construction of Toy Story Land
The Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow November 2014-COnstruction of Toy Story Land
Animation Building July 2015- Launch Bay now operating
Osborne Lights January 2016-Construction Star Wars Land
LMA April 2016-Construction of Star Wars Land
Monsters Inc meet and greet April 2016- Construction of Star Wars Land
Honey I Shrunk the Kids Playground April 2016- Construction of Star Wars Land

DHS doesn't have the privilege of size, they can't really expand around it since Disney is required to have a certain amount of green areas so they have to close things down to be able to make new things.
I think that the parade was shut down prematurely and SWW could've had a last year (this year) and given a proper goodbye, other than that they have to close things down.
As to a list of attraction and entertainment still open:
Muppetvision 3D
Star Tours
Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular
Frozen Sing Along
Great Movie Ride
Launch Bay
Voyage of the Little Mermaid
Disney Jr.
One Man's Dream
Toys Story Midway Mania
Tower of Terror
Rock n Roller coaster
Beauty and the Beast
Star Wars A Galaxy Far Far Away
Citizens of Hollywood
Meet and Greets: Olaf, Mickey, Minnie, Chip and Dale, Goofy, Donald, Chewbacca, Kylo Ren
Fantasmic
Star Wars a Galactic Spectacular fireworks

Yeah, I feel that it is rather sparse at this time. I still go, but with low expectations compared to the other parks. If for any reason someone is only able to visit three parks during their trip, this is the one I'd advise them to skip. But I still love the atmosphere of Sci Fi Dine In, and that makes my visit worthwhile with an annual pass.

I'm really excited for all the new things coming and can't wait for some of it to be completed. But between the amount of construction and having an infant now, we've definitely decided to skip HS this year.

The closed areas / attractions were not a big deal for us so it hasn't had a big impact on us. It has and continues to be about a half to 3/4 day park so we are really looking forward to expansion.

Maybe it's just me but I don't feel like the missing attractions are a huge deal for my family at least. The main attractions and shows are all still available. We barely spent any time at the playground and didn't waste our time with LMA. I guess it depends on the family and age of the guests in that party.

I think that it depends on your family. A lot of people considered DHS a 1/2 park. We never did, but in all honestly, we are not RD to park close people, so that may have skewed our perception. There is still a lot to do, but you have to ant to do it. I like the Muppets, the Geat Movie Ride, Voyage of the Little Mermaid. I enjoy wandering around and shopping, and often hit Beauty and the Beast. We like Indiana Jones, and always try to go to Toy Story Midway Mania, TofT and Rockin Rollercoaster. When I have the kids, we go to the Fozen sing-a-long. We may or may not stay for Fantasmic, but with the firewoks now, we will be in the park late at least one of our visits.

I am not sure how you feel about walls, but I know I avoided DSK fo a while because it was too closed off fo me during construction. It's layout is different than DHS though, so I am not sure the closures there will be claustrophobic.

Same for our family. We never really did anything that has closed down so can still easily spend whole day at HS

We still found enough things to do that we were happy on our trip in April. I'd rather have them doing a lot of construction at once and get it over with in a couple years than if they did only one or two of the projects at time which would result in it being 5 or 6 who knows how many years before it's done.

to the bolded
There are basically walls at the end of Pixar Lane (where the Coke bottle used to be) and then walls by Writer stop and Muppetvision 3D blocking off Streets of America, that's it

I actually enjoyed HS more this past trip ( in May) than I have the past few years. It is still an all day park for us and I am excited about the new offerings.
