Is It Me Or Is Anyone Else Sick Of Illuminations

When I first seen Illuminations, it was very nice and exciting. Now my family has been skipping it all together. It has'nt changed from the beginning. We love fantasmic and find that to be the best show at night. I think it is time to do some changes to Illuminations. The parade before it was a nice touch, but it just was'nt enough for me. Thanks

During our last trip in 10/01 I remember that Illuminations was so fantastic and touching and I thought Fantasmic was kind of weird.
We just got back last week but this time we LOVED Fantasmic and were a tad bored with Illuminations.
I think they made some changes to Fantasmic since 2001 and it really was an awesome show.
I thought Illuminations seemd shorter this time around-didnt the globe used to travel across the lake (maybe I am wrong). When we went in 2001 I remembered more narrative parts to the show.

I still plan on seeing both shows though whenever we get to go again.

I could watch illuminations 100 times in a row and not get bored of it. I is the most amazing fireworks show I've ever seen.

ITA!!!!! I listen to the soundtrack all the time.

It does need a little change. The previous incarnation was better. But its still a must-see every trip!!!

OKAY! I thought it was only me, so I was hesitant to mention it to anyone!

We've been going for years. We love all the fireworks shows. Although we've never gotten to see the MGM fireworks because we always go in the off-season.

Trip before last we got to sit out on the patio at Rose & Crown and that was very enjoyable. But the last trip, I had planned a time to watch it and my entire family said, "it's just the same thing let's do something else" so we did. We are going back in December and I don't know if they will want to see it again or not.

I enjoy it enough to sit and watch, but not enough to fight people for a spot or stand the whole time or be behind a tree or a something else blocking my view. (I'm very short)

As for Fantasmics!, we all enjoy it. The first time we went I didn't see a thing. We were in the standing room only and I am short and couldn't see anything. I held my then 4 year old daughter on my shoulders so she could see it. She told me it was good! The next trip we got a seat and loved it (the kids and I, hubby had gone back to the hotel feeling sick). THe last trip we didn't get to see it, but it wasn't on purpose - just didn't work out. We DO plan to see it again in December.

Ah, the beauty of Disney, different things for different people. :)
Personally, I cannot stand Fantasmic.

My family absolutely LOVES Illuminations: Reflections of Earth and bored with Fantastmic. We have seen Illuminations by boat and right at the railing many times (after waiting hours). We were last there in May of this year and noticed that there are several changes (new lights on the water that go with the beat of the music, more fireworks, new direction of the fireworks). Plus this year the fireworks are higher than ever before. Plus that music is fantastic!!!! We stay at Old Key West and you could see them more clearly from the bridge. Eddie the boat driver at OKW has also confirmed this fact. My eyes are open as wide as a saucer and I'm glued to the railing peering at this wonderful sight.

Illuminations was by far the best and favorite thing out of all Disney World (this includes food, resorts, rides, water parks).

My family has said since Reflections of Earth started that Disney should do the Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks over the East River. We are soooooo bored with the way it is done here. This year we viewed the Illuminations video after getting bored with the way it is done in New York. Even been on the east river has not helped.

I also could watch Illuminations 100 times or more and never get tired of it, I just love that show, the music, the fireworks, everything about it!. I also love Fantasmic, but last trip, I was sitting watching Fantasmic and Illuminations was going off in the back ground. I didn't pay much attention to Fantasmic, I just watched the illuminations fireworks instead.

We LOVE Illuminations and never tire of the music (we also listen to the soundtrack! "We Go On" chokes me up every time). Next trip we will make it a point to see Fantasmic. We just never seem to stick around long enough at Studios to get to it.

Love Illuminations!!!
In fact we try to see it several times during our trip. Nothing better than a slow stroll around ws topped off with great music and fireworks. Fantasmic on the other hand, well lets just say that if we miss it, we miss it.

Illuminations never did much for me. We always skip it. Too much other things to see. Plus I hate fighting the crowd to find a spot to watch Illuminations. Different strokes for different folks. That is the beauty of Disney. So much to see.

We love both Illuminations and Fantasmic...but Illuminations is the one that always brings me to tears...it is so beautiful and I love to see it on every trip! I hope they don't change it. While I do think they could change some of the fireworks, and scenes used on the globe...I don't want to see the music or premise changed! :)

I am so terribly sad that they got rid of TON/TOD....the music was so uplifting and I miss that!

Me, too! I could watch the show every night.

Well, Illuminations is, IMHO, the best show in the best park in WDW. That doesn't mean it can't be improved.

Cheereleaders would be a good start. With fire-throwing, globe-shaped pom-poms (consistent theming is important). We could have each country field a team.

Pro: Cheerleaders. Duh.
Con: Male guests would push the crowd density of the Norway pavilion past fire code limits.

How about a new soundtrack? We could get everyone from the international and domestic version of American Idol to sing together in the spirit of peace and harmony.

Pro: It's the only steady paycheck many of them will have outside of the food service industry.

Con: Figuring out how to translate "Claymate" in Cantonese.

Just a thought.

I love Illuminations! I could see it everynight! I almost did last December, we could see the fireworks and hear the music from our balcony at BWV.

Fantasmic is OK. The Pocohontas part is boring. I hate having to sit so long before, the bleachers are not comfortable. I do like the ending when the ship comes around the corner into the stadium.

They have changed illuminations many times over the years. Every version I've seen has been my favorite. I also have the CD that I listen to.

I put off seeing fantasmic for many years, didn't think I would appreciate all the "disney" stuff. But I was wrong. It is almost as good as illuminations. Another night time show worth the wait.

Illuminations is my absolute favorite. I listen to the soundtrack all of the time, and can't wait to see it.

It seems to be the only fireworks show that I can count on seeing this trip.....which is fine with me!

Illuminations is my favorite thing in all of WDW. Seen it 48 times in it's current incarnation. I literally schedule all my days/meals/whatever to be at Epcot for the show. Anytime I see Fantasmic or Fantasy in the Sky, all I could think was "dang, could be seeing Illuminations right now." And I have never felt the need to wait right at the rail for hours on end to get a good spot for the show.

But I like what someone said: "That's the great thing about Disney- different things for different people." People can have completely different vacations and have a GREAT time!

How could anyone be bored with Illuminations!!!! Now if we're talking about Fantasmic, that's boring after 1 or 2 times!!! They really need to shorten the Pocohontas part.
