Is it me, or does this girl look overdone?

Whoa...the HAIR! Did they make her French-kiss a light socket?

The title of the thread had me expecting much worse. I think this little girl looks cute - the makeup is just part of the special touch for the Holidays - not intended for everyday.

I'll be honest, to me it is not the hair or the make-up, both of which rival almost anything ever achieved by a Miss Texas USA Beauty Pageant contestent during the 1980's

and the outfit is really okay if you are into wearing purple fur :rotfl:

to ME, the "ad" is completely spoiled by the look on this girl's face which blatently reads

"HOLY HECK EXACTLY WHAT ARE YOU PEOPLE THINKING?!!!!" If she knew who Dee Snyder was, she'd probably agree with the comparison. I can see it in her face. :rotfl2:

actually, kind of shows that she is probably one smart little girl as well as being awfully cute under all that crap.

That was kind of what put me off. Her pose and her glance are definitely not the "natural" little girl look. She just looks uncomfortable to me. :confused3

I like it. As for the hair, my DD has very curly long hair. Give me 15 minutes with a hair dryer and her hair would look exactly like that. In fact I did it for her one year for Haloween as part of a witch costume. Don't sass the hair and BTW, to the poster that said hair like that is a nightmare...it is. I can't keep up with it. It takes a lot of time, very expensive hair products and soundproofed walls (to keep the neighbors from calling the police when she is screaming when I am combing her hair).

I find it sad that this little girl is being compared to a stripper/hooker :sad2:
Yes, that's my biggest concern about this thread. I'd think that to be a more troubling thing than the length of a little girl's skirt. :( I don't see anything even remotely sexual about the outfit, and worry about the fact that some folks do. Are we that sex-crazed in this society that we're starting to see sex in everything?

Bicker...not that I disagree with you here but is there ANYTHING you're not an expert on? ;) From TV ratings to "glittering" to a number of other subjects you comment on...you continually amaze me with your expertise in such a wide array of subjects. :teeth:
Don't confuse perspective with expertise. The issue here is a matter of perspective, not expertise. I would hope that everyone has a perspective. There are a few subjects which I have a measure of "expertise" in (as much as anyone does online) including business management, software development, airline operations, the television and cable industry, and coffee. Beyond that, I'm just like anyone else.

Again, in this case, there is no "expertise" -- it is all about personal opinion.

No, what we see is a little girl maybe 7 or 8 :confused3 dressed well beyond her years. These clothes are for sizes 4-14. Would it be ok for a 3 or 4 yr to be in that outfit? Apparently the store think so :rolleyes1 . What's wrong with a girl her age wearing a cute outfit like this :

Nothing! That's cute too!

How about this?

I think the outfit is adorable... and the girl is adorable. For those of us with straight hair that spend an hour in the morning to make it curly, I for one... am jealous at what I'm sure she can do with her beautiful curls!!

Good try Kelsco99, it's THE outfit!!

I don't like the purple vest when the outfit is all put together. I would dress my dd in that outfit without that particular vest but maybe with a different one. But all in all its fine. I don't like the hair.

Someone mentioned the length of the skirt....

Skirts that length for little girls have black shorts sewn in. The are bought that way. So there really is no need to worry about little girls sitting in school or playing on the play ground. They should be perfectly comfortable.

I guess it's a matter of taste. Personally I think the skirt is overdone and that jacket is just bizarre. The tights, top and hair thingy are really cute.

Not a thing - it's just as cute. BTW, that skirt is the same length as the other one. :confused3

I think it's great for little girls to add some dress up and glitter to their holidays which is what this add is all about. Both outfits are cute - one is nice for everyday and the one this thread is for is about dressing up and doing more than usual. I just don't see any problems with that.

When I am at my DD8's school, I don't see girls done up like this but I wouldn't be surprised if I went for the last school day before Christmas party, I see several, my own DD included. :confused3

I know it's the same outfit as the model is wearing. I never had a problem with the length of the other skirt. It's likely a skort but even if it isn't with heavy tights it would be fine. My DD has tights that are as heavy as leggings. I just think the acid wash and glitter are too mature for a little girl especially when paired with that jacket. It's something I'd expect on a 12-14 yo not a 6-8 yo.

My daughter is 9 and I would put her in that. Probably not the vest, it just isn't my style but I think the rest of it is really cute. I'm typically a Gymboree gal and I think Children's Place stuff is pretty tacky sometimes. I do shop there sometimes but I really like Gymboree's style for the most part. However, if they keep sticking giant animals on everything, I'm going to scream.

It's funny because I mostly shop Gymboree along with Lands End but the past 2 years I've bought holiday outfits for DD at Children's Place. Most of the time I walk in there and just shake my head but every now and then I pleasantly surprised.

I case anyone's interested here's what I found for my DD:

Well, I see a beautiful little girl....nothing more. I find it disturbing that a bunch of "adults" would be comparing this child to a hooker. :sad2:

ITA. No one can even see how short the skirt actually is and the rest of the outfit is fine IMO. :sad2:
