Is it just me?????

We've been to WDW several times, our 1st was in 1996. A lot has happened since then. We started out going to CBR for 10 days and then in the summer of 1997 we stayed in the Contemporary and have honestly been sold every since!!! Over the years we've stayed in a few moderates but mostly the deluxe resorts. There are a # of reasons we've stayed in deluxe as opposed to the others on property. 1st off we purchased AP's twice over the years and have gotten great discounts. Also thanks to Mousesaver's and our Local newspaper we've also gotten great room only discounts. Now after having said all of that I was just curious as to ask, what has happened to the room only discounts? I understand that it is the 50th celebration of Disneyland but I am shocked that it's been QUITE a while since we've all seen a discounted room only rate!!! I guess those days are coming to an end.The attendance as to what I've seen, so far this year doesn't warrant Disney to have discounted rooms especially since they are discounting the park tickets so much!!! kind of. Our first of 4 trips was in 2002, with a room only code at WL for $124/nt.--and we were upgraded to a Woods View! Same thing the next year. The following year, we rented points and stayed at VWL. Last year, I was shocked to find there were no room only discounts to be had, aside from the small AAA discount. The same room at WL we'd paid $124/nt. for was now about $125 more PER NIGHT! Totally out of our budget. We rented points for 4 nts. at Saratoga Springs, then 3 nights at POR (Mansions). We were so surprised because we liked POR MORE than Saratoga Springs!!! Looking at May 2006, unless the room only codes come back, it's POR for us again. Due to family issues, the lack of flexibility with renting DVC points won't work for us this time. But, you know what? We liked POR so much that I wouldn't really have a problem staying there for the whole trip...it would, however, be nice to stay at a Deluxe again sometime in the future!
