I tend to read a lot more posts than post. I am a fairly new DVC member and don't feel I have much to add.

The post do not just have to be on the DVC boards. There is the community boards, restaurant boards, budget boards, family board.

I'm absolutely sure you're right! Some have tried that to reach the requirements. But UConnJack was just being lighthearted. If you haven't seen his post #55 in this thread, it gives you some insight to his pov.

Well they're grown ups, I would expect them to read the rules.

I was just feeling a bit silly, it has passed.

But seriously, to enforce the rule, I do not think there is a built in tracker of some sort that calculates how many one word or smile-only posts you have and subtracts them from your total. I think they do count to your post total (my total numer has increased with each one).

However, if you are trying to post to the R/T board, and the mods see your post total is not much over 50 or uneven, then I suspect they review your posts and discount them when evaluating whether to let your R/T post through.

I also suspect however, that if you have a lot of posts (well over 50) and they are even, that they do not look through to confirm they quality of those posts.

I'm sure my previous posts will get discounted, but thats fine, they were just in jest anyway. Although I would contend that they held more meaning and quality than some other drivel I have seen posted...

No how no way would I want to deal with that. The mods have more patience than I do.

I still don't understand why I can't post if I want to rent points from someone.

But I can still request a transfer correct ?

There are almost no point offerings anymore.

I am forced to go to other boards to look for points.

I got stuck by not being able to post a rental, but I ended up responding to several requests for points for transfer and rent. Surprisingly, my experience was so pleasant. People knew what they wanted, didn't haggle and I was able to conclude within 2-3 weeks. I ended up dealing with mostly DVC members and for some reason that greatly added to the trust factor. I think one of the pros of the new system is the loss of renters with sob stories to drop price down. I think the rent/trade board will pick up again in a few months. I'd like to see how activity transitions. I hope everyone gets the same experience I did.

So in other words, the rules "contributing member" literally means you have to contribute something positive to the discussion. So even if you're an active member, I guess we have to make sure what post we read and reply. And how to reply. So this rules actually means 50 post that must contribute to the thread with valid answers... or something to that affect.

Also, I think post on this rule debate thread doesnt count toward the 50 post either. Why am I still replying....haha
