Is it ever any cheaper to fly out on a Monday than over the weekend?

Speaking from my own past experiences, it is actually more expensive to fly out on a Monday. This is usually one of the busiest days for travel for business people. If you want to fly out over the weekend, Saturday is usually cheaper than Sunday. Sunday is when a lot of people return from weekend only trips. Again this is my own personal experiences. Hope this helps.

yes, that makes sense. I'm not a business traveler so I wouldn't have thought of that :) I know Tuesday is the cheapest day to fly, but when you have to go on a school vacation, that's hard to do. Thanks for the tip on Saturday, though. I'll keep my eyes open! :thumbsup2

I usually fly either Southwest or AirTran, and have gotten the best rates on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday. Typically Monday, Friday and Sunday are higher priced, at least when I have been looking. :)

When I switched going from the Sunday after Thanksgiving to the Saturday after Thanksgiving, I was surprised the difference in airfare. I didn't realize that most everyone checks out on Saturday, to give everyone a chance to get acculumated to go back to school after the holiday.

I love coming home a day early as well. I maximize my eighth day by leaving around 5:30 pm.

I also agree about Monday travel. I went to LV a few years ago for a long weekend and decide to take the red eye home Monday a.m., very early, so I could just go straight to work. Crowded and very expensive.....

Flying American the cheapest day to fly is usualy Tue or Wed. Most of the best sales fall on those days. If there are no sales then the prices are basicaly the same for Tue, Wed and Sat with the highest average prices on Fri, Sun and Mon.

Generally, I have found fares lower on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursdays. My usual WDW getaway is from Thursday-Tuesday and usually get good rates on those days. For peak travelling times every day is expensive.:)

Thats just what we try to do Thursday-Tuesday, I usally get the best fares that way. Linda :)

Most of Southwest's promotions and very best fares require flying on Tuesday, Wednesday or Saturday; those have been their three least expensive days for travel for decades.

I find it interesting that people are saying Monday is a more expensive day to fly than Sat or Sun... our last two trips to WDW, we flew home on Mondays as it was considerably less expensive to wait until Monday to fly home than on Sat or Sun. It cost me less for the extra hotel night than it would've cost to fly home on Sat or Sun... This was with SW both times....

I found that I can get the best flight times closer to my vacay dates by choosing Tues or Wed....but if I look early enough, I have been able to get great rates (in the past, not so easy to do now) pretty much any day of the week on SW.

Hope you have a fab trip! :goodvibes

We also switched, though we switched to flying out on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving instead of the Sunday. The Tuesday fares were 1/3 the price of those on Sunday.
