Is it December Yet?? Cancelled with a Heavy Heart!

I forgot to ask last night. Do you know what positions he put in for? Just curious

I know he showed great flexibility as he was willing to go to WDW or DL. He also has experience in food, lifeguarding & retail......so he put down as many things as he could. I know he would have been happier with ride operator but he'll take it just to get a foot in the door. He'll be doing QS food service.

Hey the food service is a good department. Look at Oscar.

Just popping in to give a quick congrats to Derek! That's awesome Laurie!! You must be so happy for him, even though it means missing that experience with him. :)

We're thrilled for Derek!!! He starts June 11 and goes until January 2 but it sounds like you can get an extension to do a full year total. I really doubt he'll come home after doing it. Super excited he's getting this opportunity and getting to live a dream of working for Disney!!!!

so exciting!!!!

Yeah, hear of a lot people extending it for a year or doing professional internships and making careers out of it. That is so great!!

Great Discounts too for their familes :goodvibes

Well we made some adjustments on our Disney packages today. First we had to take Derek off the reservation since he'll be doing the College Program there from June 11 to Jan 2, 2013. We also changed from a standard room at the Port Orleans~French Quarter to a River View (which I thought I had requested when we first changed resorts, but maybe not??) And last we upped to the Deluxe Dining Plan. I did price out our options of the dining plan vs the A/P w/Tables of Wonderland but the bottom line for us.....we needed a plan where as much as possible could be paid in advance. There's also the chance (probably small) of free dining being offered, so I'd like to have the dining plan already set just in case. I also won't have to worry about pre-paying for a few of the meals.

I've got our dream itinerary all laid out & of course what happens on June 10th will decide how much of that plan comes to be........ I've decided NOT to post what it is.......don't want to jinx it.......lol :rotfl: Let's just say that our meals will be part of our "experience" and all the extras will make this a dream trip!!!

You are such a tease, Laurie! ;) I really want to see your dream itinerary! I am still tweaking ours for August. The only character breakfast we were planning to do was 'Ohana because Andrew asked if we could lessen the character angle this trip. Jay and I talked and decided that he and I will hit a couple & let Andrew have the extra hours sleep. So that meant tweaking a few things so I have enough credits.

I am going to get the 9 inch white vinylmation and have the characters sign in different colored sharpies. Figured it will be easier if we are seeing them at meals rather than standing in the Parks.

Ok, enough of a tangent there ... bottom line is I cannot wait to see what you have planned!

I'm with you. I'm hoping, praying, grovelling that there will be a free dining offer for our trip in Dec. But I never thought about the possibility of upgrading to the DxDP. Thank you. You've given me something to think about.

I'm counting down for our 180 day mark too. And STILL waiting for the parties in this trip to give me the places they want to eat. :headache:

:rotfl: I know, I know........just afraid if I advertise our plans that the whole thing will be up-ended when I go to make our ADR's......so just don't want to chance it.

My family loves the characters meals!! (Including the grown up kids) We're doing enough of the meals so we can bypass the characters at the parks. (except if we see someone different~Belle in her blue dress, Marie the kitty, etc.)

Neat idea on the Vinylmation! I'm not a fan of those things.....but it would be a great way to display the autographs.

I'd be going nuts if we hadn't sat down & figured out the places we wanted to eat and priorities on what to see & do at the parks. I know the trip isn't until December......but having those things figured out.....helps me plan out so I"m ready to do the ADR's. Good luck with yours!!!!

The free dining would be a nice perk.......but I'll be ok either way. I don't want the crowds to increase because of it.

You are such a tease....How are we supposed to hang on until June 10th :rotfl2:

I'll give a little insight if that helps people out........but no specifics!! :thumbsup2

Ok, a little peek into the plans:

We have 10 character meals we're hoping to do~~3 dinners/7 breakfast

We have 2 two credit meals we're hoping to do.

We have 1 TS & 1 QS breakfast (as well as the 7 character meals)

We have 5 TS lunches, 3 QS lunches & 2 snack lunches.

We have 4 TS dinners, 1 QS dinner, 1 snack dinner (as well as the 3 character meals)

Which equals to 27 credits per person/9 night stay

We're also looking at 5 "extras" to make this truly a magical trip!!!!

Ok, not a lot of help but some! You must be hitting every character meal on property! :cool1: We have pretty much done them all over the years (except Akerhaus in Norway). I think once Andrew gets there he will see things a bit different but right now at 16 and after hundreds of character pictures, I agreed to limit his interaction. But like I said, I know there are some that when we see them, he will be right there with me in line!

I have yet to "meet" Marie. Her line is always so long. Going to try again this year! We had a great conversation with Belle in her blue dress back in 2008. She was a riot and completely in character! She made sure that I absolutely knew that Beast was hers and hers alone!

We're hoping to try all but 2 of the character meals. (this doesn't include the tea party, etc. we're skipping those sorts of things)

I'm willing to stand in line for Marie, since that is something we've never seen at DL.....of course, shorter lines would be nice!! (hate standing in line to have them leave before we get up to them)

We'll be eating at 8 different resorts & 2 in DTD. Another hint....lol

Wow, that's a lot of resorts! I know many of the breakfasts are in the resorts though. I know you had mentioned Boma ... and 'Ohana for breakfast. I am hoping that maybe you are also considering 'Ohana for dinner! It is Andrew's absolute must do each trip. I could make a meal on the noodles and broccoli and never even touch the meat. And the dessert makes me just swoon! Plus they do some really fun things with the kids.

EIGHT Resorts!! What fun!! Just remember WDW is HUGE and it takes time to get around. :thumbsup2 43 sq miles...and they haven't even used up all the land yet. Pretty amazing!
Did I miss an update with the characters meals mentioned? Doing some catch up this afternoon. Rosie started a pTR for us and I hven't even added an into....our TR is not typical...will be sort of all over the place...but Rosie is fun and one the of nicest people you'll ever meet... her regular followers are used to the "flow". ::yes::

It is my first PTR and talk about a lost soul! I actually used to write, but it has been so many years that I just draw a blank.:scared1:

Okay, off to see what I missed here!popcorn::

p.s. Did you decide on the deluxe DP?

We're trying to mix things up & try some different things. I think we got a pretty good balance (the only thing glaring at us is the lack of mexican food.....which is our favorite......but there's always nachos for a snack in Epcot!!) Some of our choices were also looking at what Shy could eat....with her allergy to wheat, milk, soy, egg, peanuts & tree nuts....some of the places just didn't seem to be a good fit.

Yup, I've been doing my research and am aware that we'll be doing some driving. Biggest reason for renting a vehicle is so we're able to see as much as possible but not be tied to the Disney transportation.

We're also spending a day resort hopping to see the holiday decorations and edible displays....... Keep in mind, staying at Port Orleans~French Quarter counts as one of the resorts, and being on top of the PO~Riverside makes two.

No specifics about the character meals we chosen.....gonna have to wait until June 10 after I make ADR's. ;)
