I live in London, want to go 2 disney this year, please can any one give us info on what's like in early december (1st 2 weeks) or late september- can't make my mind up. Is it really cold in december? (shorts weather or not?!)

Thanks :flower1:

It can be in the 80's or it can be cold. This year the first part of Dec. was very nice and then got cold around Christams.

Late Sept. is nice. You just have to worry about Hurricanes.

Welcome to the DIS.

We were there from Dec 16th to 22nd in 2004. The weather ranged from a daytime high(low) in the 40s F with an overnight low around freezing to daytime highs close to 80. It didn't rain at all although we did have some overcast days. Basically, be prepared and it is a great time to be at the World. The holiday preparations make it even more special and we will be back for another 7 nights/8 days this Dec.(Yes, that's on top of the June and Oct trips)

It can always get cold--this is the first December that I remember in a while with very cold temps that usually wait until January. We've never had to bundle up for a day trip over before. Though it did make it especially nice when viewing the Christmas Decor--it felt seasonal.

Your chances are pretty good to have nicer weather than back in London. If traveling in December--bring for both types of weather--even if the forecast is leaning one direction.

The answer is Yes and No.

4 years ago, we went in December for the first time. It was 70-80, and never wore pants.

Three years ago we were there in mid-December, and it was below 40. There was frost on the windshields of the cars in the parking lots. We wore jeans, and coats. Luckily we are from the North, and brought warm clothes. And all the themepark stores were selling gloves.

Last year, mid-December, it was 60-70 during the day, and 50's at night, so its a toss up. We wore shorts in thd day, and pants at night, but that year we didn't need coats.

You really have to watch the weather for a couple weeks before you go.
Accuweather gives you a 15 day forecast. (if you trust forcasts! lol)

Have Fun!

We were there the first week of Dec this last year. We wore shorts during the first part of the week. Jeans at night with a light jacket for MVMCP. It was in the upper 70's kids went swimming except for the last day it was cooler. I plan on going back again in Dec. the christmas festivities are worth it!

I've gone the first or second week of December the past 7 years. We've had highs of low/mid 80's to highs in the 50's. Last month was wonderful, the day we arrived it was only mid 60's, the next day mid 70's, then low/mid 80's the rest of the week. One trip, I think 2000, our arrival day was in the 70's but the rest of the week in the low 60's. When it's only 60's during the day, it gets cold at night. In 2003, we had some days in the 60's, we were glad that we brought ight winter coats and gloves for evenings, we finally wised up. So be prepared for warm or cold ahead of time and watch the forecast before you do your packing.

We have been there several times, Sept and Dec each. I think your chances of Sept without hurricanes is better than Dec without cold, BUT you should probably plan for both in the years to come. Early Dec, smaller crowds maybe warm and holiday decorations and spirit! Go for it and have fun!

As I live in London, I should be used to the cold weather. I've been reading all the travel guides, can some one out there help me with a few questions?

1) What are the queue times like in last two weeks of Sept?

2)Is the heat in July similar to Sept?

3) What hotel is better, Beach resort or Wilderness??

Thanks :flower1:

To answer your weather question September in Florida is still very hot and humid, the heat really dosen't break until mid to late October. Also, notwithstanding hurricanes(please let us not have another season like 2004 for many years!),September is still rainy season with a good chance of daily thunderstorms and overcast weather. December is totally unpredictable,it can be in the 80's or in the 50's,no way to predict!

I'd pack layers. Carry a sweater with you each day to the parks. It can be very, very hot or very, very cold. It literally varies from day to day and even from earlier in the day to later at night.

We were there this past Dec. and wore t-shirts with sweaters over them every day.

I was just going to say the same thing about September -- it can still be quite hot and humid that time of year. December is a unpredictable -- generally your chances of it being warm are better the earlier in December that you go.

We were at Disney Dec 15th - 20th and it was cold! you could see your breath LOL, but it was perfect for the christmas decorations and mickeys very merry christmas party, we really enjoyed being bundled up to do the parlks... what a difference from when we usually go - August!

Being a Floridian, all I can say is; sometimes it's cold and sometimes it's warm. I've been in WDW in early December and we had to be all bundled up because it was in the 30's and windy (2002). This last December (2004) trip wasn't quite that cold, but you did need long pants and a jacket/sweatshirt at night.

Best advice: Prepare to dress in layers.

Now for September, it generally is still hot here. I wouldn't count on real autumn temperatures. I doubt if you'd need a jacket, but you never know.

I know this is a rambling answer and I hope this helps.
