Is it a bad sign for the vacation when you faint on the plane? COMPLETED!

I have often thought about this gal as well. I do recall her posting an update on her TR that "He" had come back and they were trying to work things out but it was REALLY difficult for her. :sad1:

Loved the smiling Liam on the last update-yay!! And I agree with you on that dinosaur. It's so weird and out of place...I would love to hear the story on how that made it into the park.

Your new park bag looks great!!

My gut feeling at the time was that He left again and that's why she stopped posting. I really felt bad for her as she seemed to be blind-sided by the whole thing.

I think I'll try to find some back story on that ugly-dino in October. I'm sure it's suppose to be one of those recycled art pieces but what does it have to do with the story of Dino-Land????

We left Dino-land and went back to Africa to use our FastPasses for the Safari that we had gotten in the morning. The FP line was a longer wait then the stand-by wait that morning but it wasn’t too bad. When we were nearing the load area Liam needed a distraction so I let him play with the camera. He ended up taking like 20 pictures but it kept him happy.

These birds slowed our trip down from the start as they walked in the middle of the road.
1101185.jpg

Look a Hippo OUT of the water….I rarely see that on safari.
1101188.jpg

Crocs. I wonder if they know there is a whole footwear craze named after them. (sorry for the fuzzy pictures but you know how it goes)

Giraffe hiding in the palms.
1101192.jpg

Some horned beast.
1101196.jpg

Pride Rock. We got a better look at the Lions on this safari then on the morning one.

We were about done for the day and I wanted to get out of there before we were stuck in the back of the park for the parade. I’ve seen the parade once. That was enough. It’s no where near as bad as the one that they had at Epcot 7-10 years ago….anyone remember that parade?

On our way out I wanted to find this “fire” breathing dragon by the river that I had read about. If you didn’t know, in the original plans for AK there was suppose to be a land centered on mythical animals….BeastieLand or Beasty Kingdom….something like that. I guess Disney ran out of money or time or both and it was never built. But since it was part of the original plan lots of little things still got made with dragons on them….like some of the park benches and signs….like this one….

See Mr. Flyin’ Dragon right in the center?

So anyways, I found the dragon I was looking for. It’s on the river bank near the bridge between Discovery Island and Camp Minnie-Mickey (Camp M-M was suppose to be the location of the Dragon-land, that’s why there is hardly anything over there. Can you believe that the FOTLK show was an after thought and thrown together? )

On the way out we stopped to look at the animals in the Oasis. I think this is an anteater. Or are those tusks? Wild boar perhaps? Guess I should take a picture of the signs too.

1101202.jpg

And I had to take pictures of the cool lamps.

Looks like Liam was ready for a nap at the resort.

What would we do with the rest of our evening???

I have never ever seen a hippo out of the water, how cool!

I do enjoy the little dragon guy in the AK sign. He's cute.

I just adore Safari pics...the animals are just priceless!!! You got a great hippo shot!!!

I love that you posted Liam's first photos that he took LOL...he's already learning!!!

I bet you are right about He. And She is left raising both their kids - the little guy was still under a year old if I remember correctly. Poor gal. :sad1:

I hope you are able to find something on that ugly dino....it's so out of place and weird!

You know, I remember reading about the fact that there was supposed to be this whole other aspect to the Animal Kingdom. I think it may have even been discussed on one of those in depth television shows they have about the parks. But I had no idea that some of the signs have dragons, and that some dragon motifs remain. That's great, and I can't wait to see what I can find.

One of the reasons I love reading your report. You notice things that I never even knew about! :goodvibes

I have never ever seen a hippo out of the water on the safari -- very cool! :thumbsup2

The lions were very alert on your day -- I wish they would wake up sometime when I come through.

I did know that about the unfulfilled mythical land, but I didn't know about the dragon on the way to Camp Minnie-Mickey. I will have to keep my eyes peeled for that!

I somehow missed your update from earlier today - I love the pics that Liam took, it's so cute! :goodvibes

I have never noticed the flying dragon on the sign! I'm so unobservant. The rock dragon is REALLY cool! I have heard of "Beastly Kingdom" but always in reference to it being a future development, not one that was part of the original plans...I had no idea! Love the info! :thumbsup2

I love all your pics from Ak. Wonderful! I always love the signs with the dragons in them, just like I love the few spots at DHS where the theater is on them instead of the hat. There are a few garbage cans that still have the theater logo on them.

Thanks for the email....I'll have to see if I can post the link here. I thought it was the ball that came out but it the light...

I thought about the that for the bag strap....black zip tie I think would be perfect.

your welcome! :thumbsup2

Now that we have our death notifications all set, we can all die in peace knowing that the DIS will be informed in a timely manner :lmao:

I hope DH would remeber to tell you guys too...not that I hope anything bad happen to me ;)

Ok so I don't think I knew that or ever seen the "dragon" another thing to add to my list of stuff to find! Thanks!

I have always wondered why there is that dragon and I guess I though it was in refernce to Pete's Dragon  always good to be in the know!

What would we do with the rest of our evening???

Can't wait to find out! popcorn::

I love Liam's pics! Aren't you glad it wasn't an old 35 with film!

I didn't know that about the "beasty" land. It's too bad they didn't get to it. I love all the details in AK....I'm trying to plan another me and dh trip so I can slow down a little more. The kids just don't enjoy the details like I do. :rotfl:

Thanks Liam for the great photos! :thumbsup2 Sometimes you just have to do whatever it takes to make them happy. :goodvibes

Thanks for the trivia about the original plans for Camp MM! That's so interesting! And to see the clues they left behind... very cool! :thumbsup2

Can't wait to hear about your evening!

I just got caught up on your trip report. I had never noticed a dragon before either. I like to play the roll the ball into the hole game on the Wii.

I thought I'd show you why I haven't been able to update lately.

DH has been working on building the addition to our house so I don't get a break from the kids to write/update.

Anyone that is in Dino-land on October 2, 2009....I challange you to a match!

I will miss this challenge by 1 week.

all caught up.

love all the pics.

Sorry Liam was having a rough time with characters and dark rides. at least your making the mos tof it. :thumbsup2

I will carry the bags with me to Europe in case Biff pukes while we are there.

Very cool. What are you adding on?
A master suite with bedroom, bathroom, walk in closet and office. There also will be room for a spare bedroom if I decide the office is big enough as planned.

Nice! When is it scheduled to be complete?

Hahaha! As money and time allows. My husband is doing most of the work himself. And besides the addition part, we are roofing and sliding the whole other part of the house so it matches.
