I was just checking some updates about WDW and was surprised to find they are removing the Muppet presence in Hollywood Studios except for RnR (which I personally think is a bad fit) to build a Monsters, Inc. area to increase attendance (!) while at the same time they are removing our cute and, from the wait times (curses LLs), popular Monsters, Inc. ride from CA. I wish there were some way to keep our ride. There sure seems to be a lot of dead space back there and I doubt they will ever use that theater again that just sits there empty.

It's all going to be the new Avatar portion. It's a cute ride but it's also a remade dark ride with obvious reskins over existing animatronics. I think it's popular because there's just not a ton of rides in California Adventure and it's right by the entrance. We rode it one last time in August. Maybe they'll add something like the WDW version when Disneyland Forward is created.

I promise you 99% of people who ride it don't even know that. It's been nearly 25 years since that reskin of a ride that lasted what... less than a year?

People have been enjoying Monsters because they did a great job on it and made a classic Disney dark ride out of it. It sucks to lose one, especially in DCA which has so few.

I don't think Monsters was all that popular until they made it a LL.

They also had the Monsters at Work on Disney + which increased the rides popularity. But even with that it was the addition of LL that made 45 minute waits the norm.

My family will really miss Monsters Inc! It was one of our favorite rides at DCA.

I'm not remotely interested in Avatar and am bummed to be losing something I love for it.
