Is Expedition Everest smooth or bumpy?

My DH is prone to motion sickness. He rode BTMR, and the bumpiness and jerkiness made him feel sick for hours afterwards. However, he has done fine with smoother rollercoasters like Goofy's Barnstormer and even Rock n Rollercoaster at DHS.

How does EE compare to these? DH really wants to ride it, but not if it will make him feel sick for the rest of the day.

Thanks!

It's smooth..much less jerky than BTMRR in my opinion.

The backward portion may be rough for someone with motion sickness.

I can't ride things that go around and around : i.e. the teacups, tilt-a-whirl, etc. and the backwards part of EE got me a little. I think it was the fact that it was dark and backwards. I rode SM years ago and had no problem and did fine on RnR, so I think it was the combination.

EE is more comparable with the smoothness of RNRC. But it does have a section where the train goes backwards. This can bother some, it lasts about 15-20 seconds.
Has he tried Dramamine? If you get the non drowsy formula that often works for people who get sick from rides and coasters.
My friend swears by it and he never has an issue when he takes it.

There is one large drop that can flip your stomach a bit, but not any worse than Splash Mt. Does he ride that? If so he should be fine.

I think its pretty smooth.

However!.......

I get motion sick also and this one was about the death of me!
You get up to the top, stop, then go backwards through some of it.
The backwards part of it made me consider jumping out of the car.
Seriously. It was that bad for me.

After our ride was done, I sat down on some steps and just sat there with my head between my legs. My fiance went on it again! So I had taht whole other ride time to recoup.

We walked over to the dino part that is like a traveling fair (cant remember what its called) and rode a ride there and that made me physically sick.
I wasnt right the whole rest of the day.

I despise EE!!!!!
LOL

I agree with this advice. My DS gets motion sickness from things that spin yet most roller coasters he's fine on. EE is very smooth but the backwards part in the dark got to him a bit. He now takes the less drowsy form of Dramamine in the am before we head out to AK and can ride Everest over and over again with no problem. :yay: The drop on Everest really isn't bad as it has a curve to it. I mind it a lot less than Splash Mountains's drop (which I don't enjoy!) :sad2: Everest is a great ride! Enjoy! :goodvibes

I can totally understand how this made you feel, just describing it I know this is exactly how i would react so i would never even attempt to ride it. Ill leave that up to my husband.

I think it depends on where you sit...we rode it twice in a row...the first time we sat near the front and really liked it, but the second time we were seated near the back and it seemed so much more bumpy. Both DH and I felt sick after that one for awhile and have not ridden it since, and we normally aren't bothered by coasters. HTH!

I also have motion sickness problems and dizziness due to a brain injury a few years ago. I can ride (and love!) BTMR, RNRC and the non-spinny version of MS but EE made me feel very sick, due I think to the backwards part in the dark.

One day I think I'd like to try it again - but only after Dramamine and at the end of the day so I can go back home if needed!! Maybe he could try that?

Smoooooooth...

except my 1st time we didn't know about the backwards part (which made it 10x better than knowing!) so the suddenness was a little tough on the neck, but 2nd time around you are used to it.

One of the smoothest coasters in Florida, but it does go backwards so that may be an issue.
