This is our very first trip as a family to WDW and it is an early Christmas present from my parents. We didn't book 90 in advance so when I tried to make a reservation for Chef Mickey any time for lunch and dinner is completley BOOKED! Uggh...I'm so bummed...this is truly the one place that I know my DD3 would absolutely LOVE to eat and meet all the characterss!!! For those of you that have gone before, is it worth to keep trying to check back for any cancellations, is it even a possibility that we could get in for something??

You'd have to pay me to eat at Chef Mickey's so it's not everybody. Keep trying, people do cancel - good luck snagging a cancellation.

Thanks, I'll keep trying! Maybe it's only everybody eating there when we'll be there....LOL!! :sad1:

Gosh no - not everybody dines at CM's. Some of us go only once every 5 trips. Others go once and decide that it really wasn't all it was cracked up to be.

We're not even gonna try for our next trip. our DD2 loved other character meals just as much as CM's. CM's was also so SLOW and PACKED. We really liked Crystal Palace (pooh characters), 1900 Park (cinderella with stepsisters), and Garden Grill (mickey, chip and dale, pluto) the best. CM's was just not for our family. way over hyped...

Chef mickeys is a must do each trip for us! Keep trying, people do cancel!

I just snagged a CM online for our party of six on October 4th. Just keep trying! I know it is not for everybody, but it makes us feel like we're at Disney!!

OMG...How in the world did you get that??? We'll be there Oct 1-4 and I've been trying for that entire time and can't get anything!! I've tried online and over the phone with no luck whatsoever!!! Uggh..so frustrating! Glad you were able to get something there!

We are dining at Crystal Palace and 'Ohana as well. Garden Grill was also booked for our timeframe!

I had Chef Mickey's envy when I couldn't get an ADR for DD's 1st trip at 2 yrs 10 months. I got a dinner ADR for her 2nd trip at 3 years old and was really looking forward to it. It was by far the worst meal of either of our 2 trips with her. The only thing good about it was the characters themselves and our waiter. The restaurant was horribly dirty and we were there at a fairly early time. The salad and desserts (except for the ice cream) were good, but the rest of the food was close to inedible. The ice cream was soup. My MIL actually got sick a few hours later, and she really thinks it was the food. Luckily she was fine the next day. Even my DD has absolutely no interest in going there again which surprises me as she loves Minnie. We definitely won't be eating there on our next trip. (I might try breakfast sometime, but we won't ever do dinner again). You aren't missing anything.

I wouldn't suggest you stress over it too much. We ate there on our last trip and were really looking forward to it. What a disappointment! We had to wait a long time to get our table and then when we did, we found that the food was not very good AT ALL and we were largely ignored by our server and the characters. It was easily the worst meal of the trip.

For our upcoming trip, I didn't even consider for one second trying to get an ADR at CM.

If you really do have your heart set on it, though, just keep trying and there's a great chance you'll end up getting something.

People do cancel but unless you are at the right time and place you won't get the reservation... We are having problems getting into Chef Mickey's as well. I'm going to try when from Conceriage when we get there. Who knows? Also trying to get into the Garden Grill. Another favorite!!!

We went for dinner and did not like the food at all. The character interaction was fun.

If we go back, it will probably be for breakfast again. The food was much better for breakfast.

We go every trip for breakfast and, for some reason, my kids love it. I think the characters are really great there, but, there are other really good character meals (try Garden Grill at Epcot--same characters, easier to get in).

I was all up in arms the past few days over the lack of availability at almost any restaurant, it seemed, and just earlier today nabbed a res for Chef Mickey's on 9/26. Everyone is right - keep checking the online reservations, and try as you get closer to the date. That advice is proving correct!!

Good luck!

Thanks for the words of advice and encouragement! I tried several times today for CM and GG for 10/1-10/4 with no luck!
Guess, I'll keep trying within the next few weeks before we head off!

We eat at CM every trip. Food leaves something to be desired-but I say that about all the buffets. But we like the FAB 5 and setting!
Try twice a day, at least, on-line. When you get to Disney, see if your concierge can help!

Dont give up! Keep trying online but book a plan B another character meal like 1900 Park Fare or Graden Grill, Crystal Palace. Believe it or not next wk will be my 11th trip and I have NEVER done a character meal, my kids never were into it, now this trip we will be doing dinner at Crystal Palace b/c finally now as my kids are teens they wanted to do this meal b/c of the location! Have a wonderful trip

Doesn't Chef Mickey's only have breakfast and dinner? I don't think that CM serves lunch.

Like everyone says, keep trying! I hope that you find something!

Our first trip Chef Mickey's was a must do. On subsequent trips, we made it our first-night meal to kick off our vacation. This year the kids didn't even request to go back. I gave them each 4 top picks and their choices were Boma, Teppan Edo, California Grill and Kona. Not even Le Cellier!
