Hey everyone!! Is Eastenders still on in the UK? If so, how often does it come on over there? We're way behind here (I'm in the southeast US) but didn't realize how far! When I first started watching we were only 2 years behind but during one of the more recent shows there was a calendar behind Lynne at the caf that's from Dec 2001 (iirc). We get 2 shows a week, if it aired more times a week for you all that would explain how we got so far behind.

Here's a blast from the past for you; the episode that got me hooked on Eastenders. I was trying to find something to watch while folding clothes after the kids went to sleep one night and our local ed. channel was having a marathon of 4 shows in a row. In one of them Ricky was kissing some blonde girl on a bridge (don't know who she was, I think she came back for a short time about 2 years ago). Bianca found out about it (I think she saw them?) and when Ricky got home she had thrown every one of his belongings out on the street and set fire to them!! I knew this was not my grandma's soap operas and I've been hooked ever since. I think that's why I like them, they are nothing like American soaps where if you miss a month of episodes you haven't missed much, they'll still be crying over the same stuff. You cannot blink with Eastenders or you could miss something important!

We just recently had what I consider their best storyline/acting so far; Kat telling her family about Uncle GreasyMonkey. I was in tears when she and Zoe were on opposite sides of the door and everything finally came out.

So, thanks for tolerating my Eastenders ramblings! It's the only show we do not miss here - we've even moaned about missing 2 shows if we're at Disney for a week, we're nuts! (Oh, ps I read that the actor who plays Jim is in the hospital after having a stroke, I was sad to hear that and hope he is well soon).

Ciao!

Still on, every day Monday - Friday.

I don't watch it so I have no idea what's going on.

It's on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursday and Friday with a catchup show on Sunday afternoon.

I dip in and out of it. I thought the storyline with May and Dawn was so stupid I stopped watching again.

sure to watch again though

Wow, you really are far behind. I remember seeing that storyline and I haven't watched Eastenders for years.

Was that when Sam came back for a bit and then she decided to stay?
Hmm a long time ago!

I don't really watch it that much now either, I used to watch religiously but the story lines have got a bit silly recently. I am sure I will start watching again eventually.

That was years ago. I dont watch it either. I might watch the odd one or two if dh is out and there is nothing on TV. Once in a blue moon from me. When I do watch it, it reminds me of why I dont watch it. I think over the years it has become perthetic. I agree with the whole pregnancy storyline. I have seen one episode a few weeks back and have since then seen the storyline on the front of TV mags. I prefer Emmerdale.

Thanks, everyone. Yep, if it's airing 8 times a week there, that would explain how we got so far behind!

I'm not happy to hear the show's going to reach it's "Best by" date soon. I guess it depends on how much you will put up with. I didn't like the Slater family when they showed up, they sounded like they were fresh from Eastend Accent Class but I'm used to them now (unless they're more authentic than the rest of the cast and that makes them stand out?).

Thanks again!

the storylines you are watching now are some of the best.. I used to watch it without fail...but it has gotten really silly, and I can't stand it now. :sad2:

I agree, I haven't watched it since either.
its always too shouty, like watching a domestic violence prog for hours

The recent storyline over here has got loads of complaints...your definately watching the best bits.

Short answer is yes, but God knows why!

Some of the worst TV on the world's airwaves. Do feel aggrieved that I pay a TV licence so they can polute the world with this tripe:confused3

As you may have guessed not a fan:rotfl2:
