Hey everyone!! Is Eastenders still on in the UK? If so, how often does it come on over there? We're way behind here (I'm in the southeast US) but didn't realize how far! When I first started watching we were only 2 years behind but during one of the more recent shows there was a calendar behind Lynne at the caf that's from Dec 2001 (iirc). We get 2 shows a week, if it aired more times a week for you all that would explain how we got so far behind.
Here's a blast from the past for you; the episode that got me hooked on Eastenders. I was trying to find something to watch while folding clothes after the kids went to sleep one night and our local ed. channel was having a marathon of 4 shows in a row. In one of them Ricky was kissing some blonde girl on a bridge (don't know who she was, I think she came back for a short time about 2 years ago). Bianca found out about it (I think she saw them?) and when Ricky got home she had thrown every one of his belongings out on the street and set fire to them!! I knew this was not my grandma's soap operas and I've been hooked ever since. I think that's why I like them, they are nothing like American soaps where if you miss a month of episodes you haven't missed much, they'll still be crying over the same stuff. You cannot blink with Eastenders or you could miss something important!
We just recently had what I consider their best storyline/acting so far; Kat telling her family about Uncle GreasyMonkey. I was in tears when she and Zoe were on opposite sides of the door and everything finally came out.
So, thanks for tolerating my Eastenders ramblings! It's the only show we do not miss here - we've even moaned about missing 2 shows if we're at Disney for a week, we're nuts! (Oh, ps I read that the actor who plays Jim is in the hospital after having a stroke, I was sad to hear that and hope he is well soon).
Ciao!
