Is DVD ROFRing AKV?

I read a thread that mentioned AKV and BLT are being ROFRed.
Is this true? Are they buying up a lot, or did it just seem that way to them?
Why would they be buying up those 2 resorts?

Yes, they have been taking those as well as SSR it seems.

No one knows why they have increased ROFR as much as they have but it certainly has more to do with just selling points direct as they have taken more than they have sold recently.

We had our AKV contract taken in April. Our broker thought the price was safe but alas it was not. We did have one pass in May but it was from an international seller.

I had 2 different AKV contracts sent to ROFR 2 months apart and both were taken. I made offers that were safe based on ROFR data but by the time ROFR decided, they were taking contracts at or above my price point. Finally went with my second choice resort and got it thru

I still wonder if those two resorts have a Skyliner announcement coming, which hasn’t leaked. I can’t understand why the vast amount of SSR points have been ROFRd

Thank you.

Wow! I had not heard/read of that rumor before.
A route that includes AKV is one of the many Skyliner expansion rumors I’ve read, usually countered by claims that AKV will get something in addition to buses to/from AK some day - but not a Skyliner 🤷‍♀️. I’ve doubted that we’d see an upgrade from buses only at AKL/AKV - but I didn’t think they’d ever complete the walkway to/from the GF to the MK, so now I’m thinking maybe there’s a tiny chance.

Both have long rumoured to be in expansion plans.
When the Skyliner opened a Vlogger took a ride with a senior manager from the company that installed it, and he said it was first phase with more coming- I actually saw that video on YouTube can’t be sure who it was now, maybe ResortTV but can’t be sure.
Not saying it’s coming by any means now, but it seems odd how all this ROFR activity is going on, with these resorts, recession on the way.

Dopelmayr is the company, I don’t recall seeing that video, perhaps it was a ride w/ the lyftblog guy Peter Landsman? There was a lot of discussion/rumor about a potential phase 2 https://www.disboards.com/threads/s...l-kingdom-kidani-to-saratoga-springs.3705166/ back when phase 1 was launching & the timeline was after another 3-4-5 years if phase 1 was successful.
As much as I would love for there to be a Skyliner station at AKL/AKV, I don’t think DVC makes enough money from reselling legacy resorts in the grand scheme of things for them to start hoarding AKV points w/ an eye to making a profit several years from now due to an increase in AKV popularity driven by Skyliner access & I’m not sure there are enough guests staying at AKV/AKL to justify the cost of putting a Skyliner station there. D23 is in 2 days, watch them announce the expansion & prove me wrong 😂.

We are selling ours and Disney just ROFRd it. AKV 170 pts Feb for 139/pt. Buyers thought for sure it would pass at that.

Just had mine ROFRd at 130/pt for 100 pts. Might have overcompensated a little and placed a bid at 145$ (agent said the highest she had recently seen was 144$) it has all 2021 (banked) and 2022 points available with plenty of time to use them so that’s how I’m trying to justify the increased bid!

SSR is the largest timeshare in the world. It should be the largest taken, as it is the largest resort.

No way Skyliner is going to SSR and Disney Springs by extension. It doesn't make sense on the map. My money is on Coronado.

AKL has been ROFRed for years, even as the price kept going up. It's just good value. Lots of time left, good booking categories, and I imagine direct guides can sell it because it's so much cheaper than the new stuff. If I were at a kiosk trying to close, AKL would be an obvious Plan C or D.

They can also point to the Value villas and say “Look how many nights you can get with those points!” (Yes, I know they use the same Value villas points charts when selling other resorts.)

Sorry just seen this.

Nope it was definitely a Vlogger riding it on a live stream and he was in with one of the managers from Dopelmayr - this 100% happened, he said it was designed to have an expansion coming.

Also well known insider tipster Marni said earlier this year:

“I will say contrary to what I wrote a few years ago, there is a proposal to extend Skyliner. If it ever happens I don’t know. But yes, sadly your impression is right.”

I am not saying there’s firm plans or it is happening, but there’s a possibility. It makes sense to run to DVC resorts and a park or DS because some of the running costs of the line can be offloaded to DVC dues.

I don’t think I saw the video you referenced but I would love to be able to Skyliner to AK from AKL, heck I’d be happy to have a walking path between the lodge & the park 😂. I remember ‘insiders’ saying AKL was slotted to get something ‘different’ & others saying expansion routes including AKL was a possibility.
It may make sense to expand the Skyliner & I suspect Disney is assessing the data - how many down hours due to weather, how many back up buses needed when the Skyliner is down, maintenance costs v. buses, running costs v. buses (gas v. electric, labor costs of bus drivers v. fewer Skyliner CMs, etc..) As a WDW visitor gliding along seated in a gondola is so much nicer than standing crammed into a Disney bus!

We tried for 3 AKL contracts from July-Sept and we only got 1 out of 3 so they definitely are still buying them back

I got a cold call from DVC yesterday and they offered AKV direct at $200 pp, which is at least $50 pp more than resale right now. I considered buying into DVC at the tail end of 2019 and now with the loss of Magical Express and daily housekeeping at DVC resorts, and the points pool problem I'm so glad we didn't. When I brought up the points pool problem the rep said that they're allowing people to bank more points which is helping to alleviate that, but just from what I'm hearing anecdotally it still seems like a lot of folks are having a hard time booking the rooms they want even 11 months out.
